Has anyone ever stayed at Eccleston Square Hotel?  We are considering this hotel.

I looked at that for our stay a couple of weeks ago but decided against it because they don't offer any in house food service and it doesn't appear that they have 24 hr front desk staff. We were arriving early in the morning and needed to leave our bags with the hotel until our room was ready. We stayed nearby at the Clermont Victoria instead. We had a king bed and breakfast for £238. I price matched with Priceline to get that rate. It is a very nice hotel  on Buckingham Palace Road and I would stay there again.

    Were they open late?

I like to get a cup of tea before bed and am trying to figure out where to do that on a ship without an International Cafe.

    Thanks

We are on Island right now and I overheard another passenger say she had asked for a kettle for her cabin and they gave it to her. Another possibility for your bedtime tea.

  3. We are experiencing moderate swells at the moment on the way to Iceland and we can hear creaking in the cabin. The balcony is larger than the regular balconies we've had in the past, with higher ceiling (some balconies on this ship aren't covered). We are close to the aft elevator which is convenient but the Horizon Court on this ship is fully forward. Taking the aft elevator to the Lido deck means you have to walk through the spa to go forward which feels a little awkward and probably unpleasant for the spa users. There is a door at the end of our hall to an outside balcony which runs the full width of the ship. There is a laundromat also down the hall which would be handy for a long cruise. Not sure if they've changed the coffee in the buffet -- we don't think it is very good. There is no International café on this ship but you can purchase coffee, which seems a little better than the buffet, from Good Spirits at Sea on deck 5.

$2 for reg coffee. The shower is very tiny and there seems to be a shortage of bathmats on this ship so we are hanging ours up to dry. The bed is comfortable -- better than what we had on the Regal in December. The location is very quiet. I will happily answer any other questions.

Searched the boards and know that the Island added rooms in this area.  Looking at these rooms for a B2B this fall.  Anyone have any experience staying on the Island since the rooms were added on Deck 8 aft?  What did you think?  Everything I see on the Island for Deck 8 aft seems very old.

We are in E625 right now. What would you like to know?

We didn’t bid and got an upgrade. If I hadn’t checked our account before we left home, we would have had wrong luggage tags. We were happy to get a balcony without paying extra, but they should have sent us a message.

I choose a specific cabin for specific reasons so I don't like being moved without being asked first. They should have a least notified you.

We are 30 days away from Alaska on Crown Princess.  Originally booked a Mini-Suite Guarantee and placed a bid on a Club Class Mini just slightly over the minimum ($150/pp).  Today received an email that our offer was not accepted, but was counter offered a penthouse suite ($1000/pp).   I guess I have impulse control issues because I hit "Accept Offer" almost immediately.  These suites were available online yesterday for $4,568/pp.  I think we did okay, LOL

That's exciting! You should have great views from your penthouse suite balcony. Enjoy the luxury of travelling in style.

Dinner was good and the show was fabulous. Luckily I went to the early one and was back in my room when the medical announcement was made. I took a princess excursion to Blarney Castle and wish I had just struck out on my own. Public transport didn’t appear to come to the castle and it seemed like a must do when I was looking at what to do. I didn’t kiss the stone. The gardens were beautiful and I enjoyed exploring. Our bus guide was very informative.

I am in the midst of planning Blarney Castle and public transit seems doable. The train stops in the port so travel from there to Kent Station in Cork and then get a public bus to Blarney Castle.

For information purposes, this is not quite correct.                                                                                While sanitizers don't work on norovirus because it is encased in a capsid,  sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol are effective on coronaviruses.

Taken from New Jersey Covid-19 information hub: "If used properly, alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is an effective way to kill the COVID-19 virus. Hand sanitizer is often faster and easier, however if you have the option, you should wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds. This is overall the most effective way to get rid of the coronavirus and other viruses."

    Thanks for clarifying that.
