Some of them require a credit card with a pin.

Has anyone taken this tour. It is essentially a shuttle to Kyoto and you sightsee on your own.
My question for anyone that has taken this tour "Where do that drop you in Kyoto?" The tour description
has no details for this and I'd like to plan a little in advance on the things we would like to see within reason, but it is impossible to plan if you don't know where you are starting your day.
Thank you!
Basically you are on your own and can decide what you want to do in Kyoto. You can also take a train from Osaka to Kyoto yourself without joining a tour.

No tipping in Japan. The workers were very helpful and courteous. Even at the taxi stand outside, there were a few people helping.

Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 4:15 pm on a Thursday.
In addition to customs/immigration, we have to get cash, pick up pocket WIFI, maybe a 3-day Tokyo subway pass, Welcome Suica card.
We are going to take the limousine/bus, mainly because it stops at the Tokyo Hilton (switched there from Okura) in Shinjuku. There is a 6:20 pm bus to the hotel and 7:20 pm one as well. Would we be safe on the 6:20 or just book the 7:20 to be on the safe side? We can always grab a bite to eat if we are waiting.
6:20pm should be ok. It takes about an hour to go through Custom and Immigration. An hour to get cash and tickets. Just do some research as where all the counters are located. The Limo bus ticket counter is near the exit to the buses. Suica cards can be purchased downstairs. Have one person watch the luggage so it will be easier.

You should be able to get off the ship by 8am and be at the airport in about one hour.

Thanks BirdTravels, it was offered on a Western Caribbean cruise we took in January. It’s called Distinctive Voyages. It is not a sale. It is a promotion on specific routes. You can google search for it and see if you can find it. Never seen it on the more popular eastern/western Caribbean or Alaska routes.

NCL has a special promotion from time to time but I don't remember what it's called. Basically you'll get 120 minutes free calls from your cabin, $50 excursion on top of the choose 2 free offers, plus some other extra stuff. Anyone remember how often they offer the special promotion?

We just came home from the Crown staying in s full suite. The Princess@Sea website still shows free water each night. Had to tell the room steward each day, either in person or with a note. Otherwise, no water. We used the bottled water for excursions and going to the gym, refused to pay $2 per bottle.

Nope. Anytime I have made a payment that included EZAir, it was directly to Princess as shown on my credit card statement, never with any part of the payment showing as being to the airline.
I also thought the payment was made to Princess, but if you call United, they will say it was paid by a credit card and the last 4 numbers should match the credit card you used to pay Princess. But on your statement, it will say Princess.

OK, I'm curious: isn't Princess buying the EZAir through a corporate billing account? In other words, you pay Princess, Princess pays United through a check from the Princess Accounts Payable department, and voila, you don't get your free bag.
Not true, with EZ air, your credit card payment goes directly to the airline, with their negotiated rate, so the first checked bag should be free.

I plan to use EZAir for my next trip flying United. I have the United Credit Card and my reservation is linked to my frequent flyer number. Would I get a free checked bag? Do I need to pay for the cruise+air with my United Credit Card? Is there a way to just pay for the air portion?

OP here, made reservations with Avis for Hilo Airport, Kaanapali Airport, and Lihue Airport. Does Avis offer shuttle buses from the cruise ports to the rental offices?
-
Was there a National Car Rental at all the ports - Hilo, Lahaina Maui, and Nawiliwili Kauai?
After trying all the car rental companies over the years we now only rent with the green guys National, they are fantastic. Not always the cheapest but you get what you pay for, with the other guys. Many of the locations we were 1s off the lot compared to others who arrived at the car rental desks the same time as us. New cars, very quick service picking up the cars and dropping them off.
We rented on all the islands, except Kona, and had great experiences with National in Hawaii.
-
My cruise ship will be docking at these ports - HILO, KAILUA KONA, LAHAINA MAUI, KAUAI (NAWILIWILI) in May. Thinking of renting a car on one or more islands. I usually rent from Avis and National, with no experiences with the other companies. I tend to stay away from smaller companies since they sometimes try to sell you additional insurance. My auto insurance and credit card cover car rental.
Want to know if Avis or National are available at the 4 ports. If not, which other companies did you rent from? I'm thinking of Budget or Enterprise.

Do you know if transfer is available form the airport?

We took the water taxi for $4 on our last cruise, NOT RECOMMENDED. It was over capacity and if you sit in the back, you'll breath in the black fume.

Yes, as time is limited, I think you should stick with the HOHO bus and try to do the 2 routes.
I remember readind somewhere that the last trip to Camara de Lobos is at 4:30pm, but you better confirm with the driver.
Thank you Biaria. We'll be arriving today at 2pm, looking forward to it.

Hello marwood,
The Botanical Gardens close at 6pm. As your cruise ship is docking at 2pm and you're planning to take the HOHO bus, time may turn out to be short. Maybe it would be best to leave the Gardens for a next visit.
The HOHO bus does two different routes: one covering a certain area of Funchal, the other one to Câmara de Lobos. The first one runs at short regular intervals, while the Câmara de Lobos one has several set departure times.
If you take some time to walk around the city center, you can visit churches; the Municipal Gardens or Saint Catherine Park; the interesting Old Town area, where Madeira Story Center is located and so forth.
Enjoy Madeira.
Hi biaria,
Would I have time to go up to the Monte or should I just stick with the HOHO bus?
Thanks again

Hi Biaria,
We will be arriving on the Ruby Princess on a Sunday from 2pm to 8pm. We plan to take the Carristur hop on, hop off bus. Can you tell us a few things we should see such as the botanical garden?
Thanks,
Wood

Publix is the closest grocery store. I'm not sure if a trolley goes there but it is not that far of a walk, about 6 blocks. There is also a CVS drugstore a few blocks away on US1 near Broward Blvd. Salad Bowl on Broward Blvd is very close and very good for lunch. There are a few restaurants you can walk to at Las Olas Riverfront and on SW2nd St. and lots more on Las Olas Blvd downtown. However, I wouldn't walk anywhere from your hotel at night. It is separated by a few blocks from where you will see other people walking and it is close to the most dangerous part of the city. I know a few people who have been mugged at gunpoint downtown so it is important to be walk where there are other people.
Is the area by Publix safe? Perhaps we can walk there from the hotel in the afternoon, have dinner in the area, shop at Publix and take a taxi back.
-
How is the Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale-City Center in terms of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance? I believe I can take the Sun Trolley to Publix on S. Andrews Ave but not sure how long it will take since it's not a direct route and the trolley only runs until 5:30pm.

THANK YOU !
Are the taxis readily available right there at the cruise terminal ?
And' date=' do you know if there are "van-type" taxies that all 4 of us would fit into (with luggage?)[/color']
Yes, they are line up as you exit the terminal. I believe there are vans available.

Hi - (Sorry if you already answered this in a previous post !)
There will be 4 of us - disembarking from the Grand Princess on February 14 in Ft. Lauderdale - need transportation from the cruise termimal to the FLL Airport to catch a 10:30 AM flight back to Arizona
What transportation do you recommend ?
THANK YOU !!
You can take a taxi for about $18.

Does Avis provide a shuttle from FLL to the Port Everglades Terminal?
How do you handle the long flights?
