  1. We're counting down the days till our Mediterranean cruise on the Jewel!

Are there any reports on the ship since it sailed in Europe please?

We've never been on a cruise before and we're finding it difficult to discover information online especially since the upgrade as to what is complementary and what areas to find it. We have 4 teens and are interested to hear where to find drinks and snacks for them other than the windjammer. We plan on having dinner in the main dining room each evening and would looooooove to see a sample of the menu!!!

This is the holiday of a lifetime for us so any information would be great - thank

Which date are you sailing? We have 2 teens, and depart Rome on June 10.

  2. Nice change!! If you have not been to Kusadasi before, and enjoy historic tours and ancient ruins, I strongly recommend doing one that goes to Ephesus. I did a Princess tour there last August, and IMO, awesome!!

If you've been to Ephesus already, try a Turkish bath in old town and follow it with a Turkish shave! Cost is very little and experience is big :)

  3. Here are the first few days of stuff I found in my mailbox on a recent Princess cruise. I'll admit to being not very wired into this community, so maybe this is not so interesting. That's why I didn't scan the whole stack...just the first part. If there's a demand, I'll scan more. It's a PDF.

Thanks for The Patter dates. Love to see what's happening.

  4. Getting ready to book flights for our September Alaska cruise. Princess doesn't have anything listed on their web site for shore excursions on the day of departure for those with late flights. Anyone who has done this cruise in the past, do you recall if they offered any post cruise excursions once on board?

I live in the area. Even if they do not offer excursions, SF is so easy. The ship will unload right down in the middle of the harbor action. Pier 39 (sea lion central) and many of the touristy sights are within walking distance. If you want to tour Alcatrez, book in advance! SF has an amazing China Town. North Beach, Little Italy, runs right into it. If you are staying over night, beach Blanket Babylon is a SF classic. I always leave with my jaws hurting from laughing. Book in advance for this as well. Have a nice dinner before hand in North Beach.

    Have fun!

  5. When we were finished onthe bluff we piled back into the van and zoom, we were off again to the next stop. As Mauricio drove he explained everything we were seeing. We wouldn't have time to stop and look at every little thing and he wanted to be sure we saw the big stuff.

Our next stop was a different angle of the Roman forum and the Coliseum. Mauricio dropped us off as close as cars could get and we set a time for us to meet him back in that same place in 1 hour. He also gave us a cell phone that we could call him on if we had trouble getting in to the Coliseum right away or got lost trying to get back. This was a nice security blanket to have.

The coliseum was everything I thought it would be. All of us kept saying "wow, I'm really here" over and over again. It was kind of funny.

Now I probably took 1000 pictures from this day so it will be hard to pick just a few of them but here are some I thought you may like!

It was raining a little that morning but it did end up clearing up and we didn't see another drop the rest of the trip...

Loving your review. I have lived here in Italy for over 6 years and I still find myself saying, "I can't believe I'm here." It is such a beautiful country!

  6. Wondering if anyone has recently used Ramses Tours for an overnight tour while in Egypt? Will be using them in a few months and was wondering if someone could give a review of how their recent tour was with them. I have read many posts from people who are booked with them for upcoming excursions, but not from anyone who has actually used them recently. Did you visit everything as planned? Any info will be most appreciated.

We used Ramses last April and they were great! Everything was exactly as we wished and they were flex when we wanted to skip a few things and add others. It was a dream for me and I would use them again. We were two adults and 2 children ages 8 and 10. Our son is in love with all things Egyotian and our guide was so nice too him. Don't expect Egyptian hotel stars to match American stars. Just appreciate it for what it is, DON"T EAT ANY RAW OR SLIGHTLY COOKED FRUIT OR VEG, even grilled, EVEN just one tiny piece of grilled onion or you might be sorry :)
