In the UK, Ireland and Norway no tips are expected in most circumstances, there isn't a tipping culture. If you do want to tip a guide or driver £5 or euro/Kroner equivilent per couple is a decent amount, perhaps going up to £10. Nobody will be bothered either way if you tip or not.

Onboard we just go with the suggested daily gratuity amount, seems fairest that all get a bit.

I didn't make myself very clear.  We are figuring out our "budget" and I do not know what the suggested daily gratuity amount onboard is.

  2. Your review is “spot on”.  We are currently on the same cruise, also enjoying a Vista suite.  We just came from breakfast in MDR; after 3 separate requests, our coffee refills and my English muffins never arrived.  Overall, the dining services have not been what we are accustomed to on HAL.  No lobster tail (other than at additional cost) offered the entire cruise.  My husband was told he could order escargot 24 hours ahead and receive it for appetizer but it has never happened.  The staff indeed work very hard but it seems they are either short staffed or not trained sufficiently.  We have loved HAL on past cruises but we have been disappointed this time around.

  3. We have about $1100. cc from canceling cruise just as pandemic was starting.  My husband is unable to travel now. I read that cc is transferable.  What options do I have.  Can I sell it at a deep discount?  Where do I place such an offer?  Thank you for your assistance.

  4. We should be all excited and looking forward to our first cruise in 2 years, but we are home instead.  Once the CDC came out with their guidelines, we decided the risk to us (fully vaccinated and boosted) was too great to take a chance, and we cancelled.  We had the insurance, but turns out unless we were diagnosed with Covid, they would not refund our full fare.  They told us we would receive "up to 90%" back; we would forfeit what the insurance cost was ($288.)  Celebrity would only give us full credit for another cruise.  All told, I am disappointed all around.  I am not sure the cruise lines really care about our "health and well being".  I hope that we will be able to take another cruise, but I still wish Celebrity gave us the option of a full refund because of CDC guidelines.

  5. My daughter, her husband, and 2-year old son are taking a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale. They are wondering if they need to bring a carseat for taxi/Uber transportation from airport to cruise terminal. Any tips would be appreciated.

  6. We will be taking this cruise in May 2018. We are wondering about taking pre and post cruise tours through Viking in Athens and Venice. The prices are steep and don't appear to include tours. I would love to hear from people who have taken advantage of the Pre and Post cruise offerings and hear if they think it was worth it. Thank you.
