The only thing so that the Houthi rebels appear to be targeting container ships, not cruise ships.

I don't think those Houthis are reliable people. They also shoot (accidentally) at Russian container ships. And no cruise ships have sailed through the Red Sea since November. Mein Schiff 2 from TUI-Cruises will be the first.

  2. Our cruise from Doha to Antalya through the Red Sea and Suez Canal starts on March 9, so in 5 weeks. I have already contacted the travel agency several times, but TUI cruises says that the trip will continue as normal. While Carnival Cop. has canceled all cruises, the German TUI cruises are just playing stupid. I am very angry and disappointed.

  3. Last week we disembarked the Spelndour of the Seas. At the end of the line I saw the box where people had to leave the things they are not allowed to bring on board. I was very very surprised abouth what was in the box. A kalasjnikov (a toy I hope) two irons, a sort of dogger.

With the whole world afraid of terrorist who thinks he can bring a weapon (toy or not) on board?!?

  4. Today in de the Dutch news:

Mega fine for mega cruise ship. The owner of the largest cruise ship in the world, the Oasis of the Seas, wait a fine of almost 600,000 euros. When visiting Netherlands showed that the rules on working hours and employment of foreign workers largely have been violated.

The Oasis last month came to Rotterdam for repairs and maintenance in the dock of Keppel Verolme in the botlek area. The Inspection of SOCIAL AFFAIRS says that the owner, Royal Caribbean Cruises from Miami, was warned well in advance that he had to keep the Dutch laws and regulations.

Last Wednesday some ten inspectors of the Inspection visit to the ship. Found that everything was wrong. The abuses were so large that the inspection Friday with about 45 inspectors returned for a second visit.

After the balance sheet was put up, were certainly not about a Dutch work permit 48 crew members to have. Most are Philippines, the rest comes from countries in South America.

The Inspection suspects that many more crew members do not have the right papers, but could not check everyone on board.

Per violation may impose a fine of 12,000 euros inspection. The service is not going to them to depart, partly because the owner was warned well in advance.

The Inspection report noted further that a number of crew members had to work way too hard. Some worked 14 to 16 hours a day. Gets the owner of the ship, too, a fine. The height is still not fixed, because that investigation is not yet finished.

The overhaul is now ready. Tomorrow morning the Oasis on the Rotterdam wilhelminakade. At 5 p.m. it leaves for a trip to Southampton.

  5. Hello,

We're first time cruisers and we want to know too if this a worthwhile stop. And when it is, how long can you entertain yourself out there?

Ps: Sorry for my English, it's not my first language:D
