  1. I just returned from my first cruise. Southeast Asia on Costa Classica.

     

    Unlike other folks experiences, they provided us with a powerstrip.

     

    The biggest thing I wish I knew before going was how overpriced and painful excursions can be. If you are in port for 8 hours, an excursion with a 4hr bus ride better take you to a location you really want to go. The precruise tips from the cruise company did not mention that there were shuttles to take you to town in most ports where it was not walkable. Many ports also had fleets of taxi/tour guides that would custom bake you a tour at a fraction of the excursion prices. Also with many excursions they lock you into really poor representation of local food and don't leave you with enough time to venture out on your own to find your own. If I had it to do over again, I would have not booked any excursions (well maybe in Brunei as we had a short time in port and taxis are not plentiful).

     

    Oh yeah onboard laundry was very expensive. I was very glad to have packed enough clothes to last the whole trip.
