  1. Hey everyone, how are you! Kathy and I have been conversing for years and yet have never met each other. Someday we will, I'll take the train to Chicago and she can meet me.

I have been decluttering, so many of my friends are moving, I am pretending that I am too and getting rid of all the stuff I will never ever use but just kept hanging on to it.

Found an interesting tub my mom had saved of my dad's stuff. Inside was his white sailor hats and the buttons off his blue bell bottom pants the navy always wore. He was on the USS Missouri that is now moored in Pearl harbor next to the Arizona. He was on the ship when the Japanese prime minister came aboard to sign the surrender/peace papers. Everyone on shipboard got a card that says they were there at the signing. Not many of those around anymore but I have my dads. Quite an irreplaceable piece of history.

So took the gals we taught how to do line dancing to a dance place last night and let them see the real world. Everyone had a good time and some others that were there joined in and followed best they could.

Going to Texas to see my great grandson for his 5th birthday, will be hot!

So will come back every once in a whil and keep y'all filled in on our lives, lol!

  2. Nope, all I get is a little box with an X in it and it won't open. So my email is sleeker@att.net. that would be great to see that picture!

No rain for us for quite a while, will cut the grass tomorrow, haven't decided yet what I will wear, sure don't want another burn like I got last time. Have thrown away the flannel shirt, it was too ripped up from catching it on branches and fence and it was too thin to block the sun anymore. Have to get another old one out to wear.

Had a very nice time on the boat ride today, it was a beautiful day for it. Lots of people walking around and shopping. Quite the resort town. We got a big cup of ice cream and sat outside and ate it.

I will get back to purging after I get the grass cut and its supposed to rain on Friday so will be something to work on then. Hope is feeling lasts so I can get some more done. Last time I got rid of about 30 boxes and bags. But will be harder when I get to pictures and my clothes. Just have to keep remembering If I move what will I need to take with. Want to be ready if I come up with an idea of where to move someday.

  3. When I click (right or left on mouse) it says ask Cortana. So I ask Cortana and she says cannot open. Maybe I have some setting that is preventing it. Shoot wanted to see it too. Maybe you could send the picture in "messages" I could give you my email address.

I got some energy today after Zumba and came home and started pitching stuff that was in the garage that I don't need or want anymore. I have two double closets in the garage both filled with "stuff". So I almost emptied one of them and other stuff laying around. Came across 3 dead mice, phew they stink. Boxed up everything so I can either have epilepsy come or take it to good will. Now want to keep on going but its already past 5:30 so will quit for the day. I've got so many friends that are moving and getting rid of stuff that I thought I should be getting rid of stuff too so I can someday move.

Like I said about your boss, he just might drop dead on the golf course, but then again, that's probably where he would like for it to happen!

Sorry to hear your back is bothering you again,

    Sharon

  4. Kathy, I tried everything but could not open that picture, I really wanted to see it too!

I went to the Moose, had a burger and salads, free beer but I don't drink beer so had water. Then left there and went to the movies ...saw Jurassic park. They left the ending so they could make another one.

So I didn't do much of anything around here, wasn't even home that much today.

Got a little rain yesterday none today. I had cut the grass pretty short so I think I can get a few more days before I have to mow again.

  5. Sears is where I got the hat, they do not have a lot of stuff, hardly ever find anything I want there either. Probably end up closing that one here too. At the other end of the mall is Bergners, which is Boston Store in Wisconsin. It is closing and has some sales but they are not enough to really buy anything yet. The discounts they are giving are on the full price so really not a discount at all.

Had rain here this morning but cleared up pretty early, nice day. Tomorrow the Moose is having a family picnic with food and drinks free (non-alcoholic). I will go up there for a bit and visit.

Glad you are able to get some rest, it's hard when you work everyday to get caught up sometimes. Nothing wrong with a little rest & relaxation.

    Sharon

  6. My burns are all gone, got a pedicure today and had a salt scrub and massage on my lower legs as part of it. Felt good, glad the burns were gone.

I have been with my friend teaching the line dance lessons all of them except last night, she is doing okay. We have one more to go, next Thursday.

Tried to use my $15 and 20% off at Kohl's today, but couldn't find anything I wanted to buy! Wandered around for a wile, then left and went to Penny's at the mall. It was quite a long drive but got nothing or no one waiting for me. Got home around 7 pm. I did find a top at Penny's. Just a printed t-shirt really. Also found a good beach/pool hat at Sears. Was on sale for $9.99, when I paid at the register it was only $4 and some change. It was 60% of the sale price. If I knew that about the other clothes and stuff I might have bought more but was the last shop I went into and was tired and on my way out.

They are putting pictures of the clouds and approaching storm on facebook, but I haven't seen any rain or heard any thunder just yet.

Good your team is still hanging in there, with any luck the other team will lose!

    Sharon

  7. She had specified adults only for the pool party and it was in her back yard. It was an above the ground pool but very large.

Well if your boss doesn't listen to the dr, maybe he will just keel over out there on the golf course.

Good for you and your win last night.

Met the girls last night did a little dancing, one was missing she had a detached retina last week and had surgery on it. So it taking it easy for a while and let it heal.

I didn't go help my friend tonight, had to go hear about that Italy trip. I don't know, its pretty expensive and I'm wondering if we will get to see much or if a lot of it is drive by on the bus. Last week will be th last of the lessons and I'm ready for it to end.

Going to get a pedicure tomorrow, like the way they polish your nails, seems to stay pretty good.

    Sharon

  8. My burns on my legs and arms are better, arms almost all gone but legs still kinda red but everyone went into the pool so I did too. Figured the sun wouldn't hit my legs in the water. She had two big trays of mostaciolli and Italian beef sandwiches. There were only 10 of us there so lots left over. It was a fun afternoon. Later went to see the girls did a little line dancing.

Hope the pills help Bills allergies, I think lots of people suffer from allergies this time of year.

I haven't used the mower since he adjusted stuff so hopefully when I do it cuts better. By moving the seat up it helped with my leg and shoulders.

Tomorrow might going to listen to a overview of an Italy trip that the bus company is going on next May. Haven't decided if will go or not. It's kinda of expensive when you add in the single supplement I always have to pay.

I heard, more humid tomorrow, ugh. It was really nice today.

    Sharon

  9. I kind of figured out how I got so burnt, I was putting lotion on under my jeans and I think it was so hot out, I didn't get sunburned, I got cooked! It looks like a really bad burn and I think it is.The mower guy came over this morning and adjusted the wheels on the deck of the mower. I gave him the old one just to get it out of the garage. I also had a lot of old belts for mowers so gave him those too. I am never going to put a belt on a mower and I just want to get rid of anything I can.

Just couldn't get started doing anything today. Did manage to cut down some of the grape vines hanging over the driveway, but the mosquitoes started so I quit. Got quite a few done, at least can now get out of the driveway with out running into them.

Supposed to have a pool party at the Zumba instructors house tomorrow after exercise. I will have to stay in the shade, really can't get more sun on my legs.

It will be interesting to see what the dr tells your boss, hopefully he will tell him he can fly back to Florida, lol!

    sharon

  10. I do not like the new mower, it is much harder to steer because it is bigger. I get very tired after cutting grass, much more than with the lighter smaller one.

No the path we went on was level and very nice, the road around here is the one that it hilly.

I went and witnessed the signature, they had a very hard time getting him to wake up enough to sign his name. This should have been done quite a while ago, but I guess he just decided to stop the dialysis so now it was hurry, hurry.

Bought some solarcaine today for my sunburn, can't believe that that happened either when I was all covered up. Hope it gets better fast, really hot.

So had your boss changed his tune and is nicer or still the same old same old.

    Sharon

  11. This is the second time I am using the new mower. I covered up my legs and arms real good with lotion and wore long jeans and a flannel shirt but when I finally go done cutting grass and came in my legs and arms were very, very sunburned. I took a shower right away and put some more lotion on and now I am freezing from them being so burned. I can understand the flannel shirt is well worn but the pants are not.

I am always so careful not to get burned and now I have done it!

Weren't you going to look for another bike last year? It is fun when the trail is flat and not like the roads here that are so hilly its hard to ride.

Yes, I will look once again at the flights but don't think there will be anything new now come up. It's alright if there's not I'll stick with what I've got.

The gal from church told me today her husband has stopped dialysis, so it will be only a matter of time now. She asked me if I would come with her tomorrow to witness some papers she is filling out for after his death. Of course I said yes.

So many people with so many problems and I thought mine were earth shattering!

    Sharon

  12. i did check the flights again, but nothing cheaper ore even close to what I have now. But I did notice today that the one I picked coming home has a stop at O'Hare for a couple of hours. I usually only pick non stop, guess I didn't notice that when I picked it. I will continue to look tomorrow but by Monday it will not be cancelable anyway. Just makes me get into Milwaukee at 10 pm and then another hour or two to get home from there.

It was a beautiful day, no humidity. A friend from town called and asked if I wanted yo go bike riding. She came and picked me & the bike up and we went to a nice paved trail. We rode a little over 8 miles. It was nice being out side. She is worried about her husband, he hurt his shoulder 2 weeks ago and its not better. He is getting an MRI on Monday to see what is going on. He has had some heart problems last fall and has never really bounced back and now this.

Not sure if you remember Ellen from our meno posts, her husband thought he had hurt his stomach muscles from exercising, but turns out it is inoperable lung cancer. He is in terrible pain and waiting to get a pet scan to see how far it has gone. Paula who is now in remission from stage 4 ovarian cancer is trying to help guide her as to what to do next. Very scary this stupid cancer stuff.

Tomorrow might have to cut some more grass, not looking forward to that again so soon. Maybe it will slow up a little, not supposed to rain all week now.

    Sharon

  13. That can be a real mess if the basement floods, sounds like your was not too bad though. A while back we had a real bad rain and a friend in Elkhorn had several feet of water in her basement. She lost her freezer and beds and chest of drawers and actually everything down there, including doors and walls.

That's not fair the sewers were shut down, they should be able to handle the rain.

I was looking at flights again today and saw the same hours except for a few minutes had been added, so I canceled that flight I got yesterday and booked the new one. The old one was $380, the new one $3I8. Still a lot, but better. I am going to look again tomorrow! Might be a cheaper one still, never know. I am flying into Dallas and wanted to leave from Milwaukee, it is so much easier to get to and so much less crowded. So both the old and new flights are from Milwaukee, thought I was going to have to get a flight from Ohare and then get a room and come down the night before, but it worked out great, I will just leave here a couple of hours early and get there in time. I like to fly American, so only was looking at those, I did see that Spirit had cheaper ones but not sure about that airline.

My friends parent are here from Florida and I went with them tonight to listen to them sing Kaioke , they love to do it, and do it every day in Florida, even sing at nursing homes. They do pretty good with duets and she sings good, him not so much but he enjoys it and that's the main thing. We met a guy there that we knew from dancing 20 years ago. He danced with both me and my friend so that made it kinda more fun too.

Well just got home, its 12:30 am so better get to bed

    Sharon

  14. No didn't sleep in, woke up so decided I might as well go and exercise, I will have Fri Sat and Sun off.

Made my flight arrangements today for my great grandsons birthday on the 28th of this month. I waited too long and now have to really pay a lot for the airfare! Also made my hotel reservation so I am all set. Will only be gone Friday and back on Monday.

Only had a brief, 15minute shower yesterday and then later that night around 7 or 8 had some sprinkles but not enough to stop any fireworks.

Doing some laundry today, and pretty much staying inside its hot out there again.

    Sharon

  15. The turkey left on its own, I have seen them here before but none ever pecked on the window like that one did.

Did his cousin say how she likes Australia? Guess must be pretty good if she is still there. I heard there are a lot of poisonous bugs and stuff there.

Yes that was quite a ride for you to come out to Lake Zurich.

The pool party the other day was outside, the pool inside was taken over pretty much by kids throwing balls around, with no parents around.

I went to Zumba this morning and then over to another town to watch the parade at 11am. Around 3:30 just before I was going to leave to my friends house it started pouring rain. So I waited till that was over and then went. We went up to the lakefront and had dinner, everyone brought something and my friend had made pulled pork. The fireworks started around 9:30. I just got home at 11 since we waited for the parking lot to clear out before even trying to leave.

I am tired, not sure I will go to Zumba tomorrow yet.

    Sharon

  16. That mileage plus account came in pretty handy! What company is that through? I just usea Discover or US Bank, get money back with Discover, think I get something with US Bank but not sure what.

I went to the pool this afternoon with some of the Zumba gals, it was packed, they were having a pool party, which only consisted of having a DJ playing music outside by the pool. It was a nice day for it. I had bought some zinc sunscreen and put that on and I didn't get red at all so that was good, only thing was it was a white color and I looked even whiter than I am! No tan at all.

When I got home I heard some knocking sound, went downstairs cause that's where it seemed to be coming from and saw a huge turkey pecking at the windows. Don't know where he came from.

No rain today, really need to get out and mow soon

    Sharon

  17. My sister was 3 years older than me, it was a year ago in January she died.

Haven't used the mower yet, maybe tomorrow if it's not too wet. Met that gal forlunch and coming home it really was raining and windy. Had a nice visit with her, we sat there eating and talking for 4 hours. Will have to get together again sometime. She lost her husband 5 years ago.

Went I left the restaurant it was 92 degrees, when I got home 25 minutes later it was 71. Really cooled off in a hurry.

Dinner at the country club tonight? have a good time!

    Sharon

  18. To answer about my friend, she is doing a good job teaching line dancing, unfortunately most all the women have never did line dancing

before and they are having a hard time catching on and remembering the steps.

My sister's birthday is today, can't go see her.

Isn't it strange you can have all that done and they just send you home? Would think you would need to stay in the hospital to see if its all okay.

I did get the mower, and asked the guy delivering it how to work everything. Pretty much like my other ones except you have to keep a button pushed in to back up. On my other ones you just set it and then could back up as much as you wanted without having to reset it.

Went up to a thing at the fair grounds a little bit ago, it was called a Mole fest. Lost of Mexican food and music. Very crowded, very hot, didn't buy anything just looked and then came back home.

No plans for tonight, but tomorrow afternoon going to meet a gal at a restaurant half way between our houses for lunch. I met her on the Niagara Falls trip, we hit it off and buddied up most of the trip.

    Sharon

  19. Sorry to say but I bet he still doesn't change, some people just seem to be wired to be like that. But maybe he won't come in so much, at least that would help.

Yes very hot today, I was spraying for weeds and had to stop and come in to cool off two different times. I thought if I did it early it wouldn't be too bad, but it was.

Didn't have plans for tonight but one of the gals of the dancing couples called and asked me to come dancing tonight. So I will maybe eat there too.

Tomorrow would have been my sisters birthday,

    Stay cool,

    Sharon

  20. I will keep using the old one for the grass way in the back and the paths. It's hardier weeds and grass and dulls the blades more than the stuff closer up to the house.

That was funny, the woman even wouldn't speak to you, pepole get so silly they can't even have fun anymore.

My sister had a lot of stents put in also, that's why she couldn't ever have surgery her heart was too bad.

Good thing you got him to the ER in time, he really owes you one! That should keep him out of your way for a while too. Good no one got in and stole nothing, at least you know the alarm works.

Went up to the farmers market again after Zumba this morning. Got some of the leaf lettuce again and a BLT avocado crepe that he made right there. I was going to eat it right away but decided to bring it home and eat it. On the way home I drank quite a bit of water so was not even hungry. Guess I'll have it for dinner after I help with the line dance lessons.

    Sharon

  21. This last time I cut grass I had to use the older mower, it goes a lot slower so it took a lot more time. Saturday I get the new one, hope I can figure out how to use everything on it,

Cleared up here now, so should be a good night.

Going to see the girls tonight, don't think there will be food, one of the guys that owns the place was getting a hernia operation today. So one of his brothers will be there instead.

Good luck tonight, hope you make them sore losers again!

    Sharon

  22. I don't cut all the grass, I leave quite a bit not cut and wild. I wouldn't have to cut as much as I do but it has taken many years to get it back into shape sot I hate to let that go. I am getting tired of it though, maybe would sell and move to a condo or townhome if I just knew where i wanted to go.

I got another disbursement from the trust today, no idea if that is the last of it or not. Hope so, it really needs to be wrapped up and done with. 3 years is a long time.

It has been raining here all afternoon, thunder but no lightening, a real steady rain. Looks like it might go all night. Will have to take the garbage out, tomorrow is pickup day.

I wear gloves too when I work outside or cut grass. Seems like there is always something I need to get with my bare hands/fingers though.

Hopefully it will stop raining by tomorrow night so you can get your game in.

    Sharon

  23. I did see Castaway and I know who Wilson is! Funny

Yes it was the newer mower that developed the transmission problem. The old mower works but is much slower and doesn't cut as good. But i am to the point I just wanted to get it cut. Today I finished it up. That idea of mine to put lotion on my legs and arms is working really good. No more rashes. So I put lots on before I go out to mow.

Isn't there always something that needs to be fixed in the house. I am getting really tired of it. Also getting tired of cutting the grass too. Wish I knew where I wanted to move, I would put the house up for sale and do it.

I heard rain later tonight and tomorrow too that is another reason i wanted to get the grass done. My new mower gets delivered on Saturday the 30th.

Hopefully you can regain your 1st place status again this week. Seem like everyone has a good day and a bad day at any given time. You can never count anyone out.

    Sharon

  24. Bill's son called back, he had been out cutting grass. He came right over and put it in and when he was done he noticed the mower out in the field. He asked about it and I told him, so he said I'll go push it up to the pole barn for you. So got both things done, and he said I didn't have to pay him when I asked how much he wanted. I gave him $50 anyway for coming.

So you got your nails done and then was out planting flowers, aren't you afraid you will get them messed up?

I got some of the grass cut today with the old mower, it doesn't look very good because it doesn't through the grass out very far but at least it is cut. Will cut some more tomorrow.

Had a good time last night, beautiful evening to be dancing outside. The band played mostly swing music and a few waltzes.

    Sharon

  25. That;s good the mattress is helping with your back. Best also to be careful and not hurt it again.

I tend to procrastinate until the last moment and then have to hurry. Sometimes just wish someone else would be responsible for things instead of me.

My sump pump kept me awake all night last night, it would try to start and shut off, try to start and shut off, maybe about 9 or 10 times in a row. Then it would finally start up and run for a couple of minutes and start that all over again. I kept thinking it would not get started and the basement would flood. Then about 5am it started running and has not shut off since. I went to Menards and bought a new one, came home and tried to call Bill's son to put it in since he put the last one in, but have called him twice now and he has not returned my calls. I know he is probably really busy with a/c and coolers but wish he would at least return my calls. Not sure what I am going to do now. Can't go outside and do anything afraid I will miss his call!

The people that are bringing the new mower are not the ones that will take the old one. The mower guy is taking it, Lowes employees are bringing the other one. They don't take trade-ins.
