When we got our cards they told us to fill in our name and DOB.  I guess because they were so busy when we got our 1st shot. I'm glad they did because the person inputting the info on the computer put in the wrong DOB for me and a I had a heck of a time scheduling my 2nd shot on line.  I was really impressed with our County Executives office, a staff person replied to an email the day before Easter, found the problem and fixed it.  They did fill in the vaccine info.

Must have been a burgh thing as I filled my own card out as well and when I got mine there were only a couple of others getting vaccinated.  Now I have to look as I don't believe I put my middle name on my card either, though I can't imagine that being an issue.

  2. Something must have changed, our children achieved elite/diamond status before they were 18, they even got their diamond pins.  I can't find any of their old Celebrity sea passes but the RCL sea passes call out their tier and I'd swear it was the same on X.

  3. Oh, okay then you were in contact with a known carrier.  That makes sense and generally applies to anyone having had contact with someone known to be infected.  I interpreted your initial post as saying you were denied because you were a doctor (edit) and may have had contact.  Fortunately we haven't had any known cases yet but screening tents are being readied at her place of employment.

Actually NO. The cruise line wrote me and avised that because I am a Doctor and will have been in contact with coronavirus patients in the 14 day period prior to the cruise that I am automatically denied boarding. They also advised of a 100% REFUND. Accordingly I am within my rights to charge back.

Really?  My wife is a Doctor and we received no such email, and she works in a very high risk environment.  Did you get refund or future cruise credit?  We cancelled and took future cruise credit but that is due to having one that has an only exam final 3 days after we were due to return and the University implemented a non essential travel advisory yesterday.

I never said it wasn't real.  My point is the hype is way out of proportion to the reality.  People are stocking up on supplies as if there's a hurricane on its way, even in states with no known cases of the virus.  That kind of panic is creating more panic.

If panic is your thing, go ahead and let the fear drive you, but you might want to consider how past world events have created world-wide fear and in the end came nowhere near the what the fear-mongers were predicting.  You're much more likely to catch the flu or die in a car crash than die from Covid 19.

I agree but using what happened in China and Wuhan in particular as a template for what can happen makes this incredibly scary and frankly our government isn't handling this very well at the moment.   It seems that depending on which news channel you watch it's either non existent or everywhere.  All that being said, my understanding is that if you're under 50 this will likely be slightly worse than a cold It's the older folk and those who are compromised that need to be concerned.

  6. Something that seems to be forgotten is that not everyone drinks. I am D+ and order a diet coke if and when I go to the CL. Since i usually buy a soda card it's not really a perk for me. I like the gift I get to pick much better then the CL. I have a few towels, totes and enjoy them for years after my cruise. My next 5 cruises that I have booked has only one RCL cruise, the others are Princess and NCL and Celebrity. I think there are a lot of us cruisers who aren't loyal to anyone but ourselves. I choose a sailing on itinerary, port of departure, price, available balcony cabins, and friends. The perks are the icing on the cake not the reason to pick a cruise line.

This will be our first RCL cruise in 3 years and we'll become Diamond after this one but are treating it as our last. We cashed in all of our points and the RCL Visa has been relegated to the dresser drawer with a cancellation following our next cruise. Our decision is based more on RCL's itineraries than anything else, for us they've become quite boring and require a choice between desired ship and desired itinerary and in our case the two no longer intersect.

This cruise was determined by available visa points, the field will be much broader the next time we cruise.
