  1. Second that Congrats.. and GO FOR IT... remember we are here for a short time.. I want to die with nothing in my bank account and full or memories

    Thanks everyone :)

I can't wait. I love cruising and can't think of a better present to myself. I love the age ranges here as well and it's nice to see that there's a wide range of people from married, divorced, widowed, single, and everything else imaginable. I think that's also what makes cruising so appealing is that there's such a wide range of people that you are able to meet and spend time getting to know

    :D

  2. I can't think of a better way to reward oneself for such an achievement than to book a cruise. Though it took me a "wee bit longer" to complete my bachelor's degree, the significance of this milestone has not changed. I took the 11-day Mexican Riviera cruise last October to commemorate this occasion. While on the cruise, I decided to further reward myself with the 14-day Hawaii cruise (taken last December) for graduating summa cum laude. Now that I'm a graduate student, I will be taking short cruises between term breaks. When I finish the master's degree, however, I want to do a cruise with an exotic itinerary (Australia and South Pacific perhaps).

I wish you success in your studies and best of luck in pursuing your future career and other life's aspirations. Your cruise awaits you... :)

    Edited to add:

In my cruises with HAL, I was one of the younger passengers on board. The youngest solo cruiser I met was two years younger than I (age 39), and that was during the Hawaii cruise. You will probably find younger solos in CCL, RCI, or NCL.

Thanks SO much for your input here. Europe is "exotic" to me as of right now because I've never been there but always longed to go. I also want to go to Australia, Alaska, Hawaii and the Panama Canal on a cruise eventually.

I forgot to mention the ship! It's on the Norwegian Epic in a studio cabin. I've sailed RCCL 6 times and have been "loyal to Royal" but the price for a studio on Epic plus airfare plus excursions is the same as the 200% single supplement for a Caribbean cruise. I've sailed Caribbean enough times that I'm willing to try NCL! :)

  3. I have booked a solo cruise for next May as a graduation gift to myself. I'm pretty sure I'll be going on this unless my friends or family talk me out of it. I'm 21 years old now, will be 22 at time of sailing, so I think I'm the youngest to post thus far. I've always wanted to go to Europe and what better way than a cruise? My family won't be able to save up the cost for airfare and cruise fare totall and none of my friends know how to budget their money either. I will be graduating with a bachelors degree in Education and I figured I would celebrate my achievement before getting a "real job" and entering the "real world".

What is the youngest solo traveler you have met on a cruise? I'm worried about not getting to meet anyone near my age.

    Thanks :)

  4. I think NCL should only allow people over maybe 25 or 30 to book these. If they are marketed toward solo travelers, than they should be kept to solo travelers.

I will have to disagree with this statement :)

That is, of course, because when I go on my solo cruise on the Epic I will only be 22. However, I'm paying for the cruise myself as a graduation gift to myself. Age should not matter. Technically the older kids of other parents are "solo" travelers in the fact that the room is for them only.

And as you stated in a later post, everyone is there to have a good time regardless of if they are 14 or 114. I read another post where a family used a studio for their "luggage" room and gave themselves access to the Living Room... WOW! That is ridiculous. I think you should HAVE to use it for a person, because there's many other solos that would've loved that opportunity.

    Great review, thank you!
