  1. 20240224_180631.thumb.jpg.927162038b4c64ab23b9703bee64be1b.jpgWe spent 3 weeks in Aqua class on the Reflection in February.  You can order from the Main Dining menu if you prefer that. We sat next to a couple who ordered one entree from Blu and one from the dining room each night. In our experience most people at the two tops enjoy chatting during dinner. In fact, here's a picture of our row of tables. Every night we all sat in the same row but next to different people depending on when you arrived. We had such a good time at dinner.

    Audio Books

As many of you know I"m addicted to listening to Audio Books while on my 3-4 hour walk.  A follower clued me into all the resources available at Local Libraries.    Most library's have a membership with Libby and have a huge collection of all genre.   Just sign up on line via your library and you have access to the incredible virtual library.    Just check it out and download to phone and it automatically returns the book after a couple weeks.    Audible also has an incredible library (for a fee).   I also take audio books on CD out of the library and transcode to my phone.

For you Readers or Listeners --- Here's my current reading list of what's loaded on my phoone

Michael Connelly -   Harry Bosh Series

Jeffery Deaver  - Lincoln Rhyme Series

Lin Anderson -  Rhona MacLeod Scottish Mystery Series

Joe R Landsdale -  Hap & Leonard Series --- Most politically incorrect mystery series.

John Sandford -  Prey Series (34 Novels)

                               Virgil Flowers

Karen Slaughter - Grant County Series

Will Trent Series a spin off of Grant County and now a TV show.

' I'm really into Mystery and Forensic novels.....ok   I'm addicted.   New recommendations always enjoyed.

Have you read the Andy Carpenter books by Dave Rosenfelt? The main character loves dogs and has a most unique sense of humor.

I want to love the World Class Bar (WCB) but I just don't.  I keep going back every time I cruise with an open mind, but nope. Does anyone else really, really miss the Liquid Chef's (Junior Merino's) drink options when Celebrity started this concept on the Solstice class ships?  It was so much more fun, and so many more interesting, tasty  drink options! The well-trained bartenders would ask you what you liked that was on their menu, and then make you something different that they figured you might like from your preferences. I can remember trying every single drink on their menu throughout a cruise and liking them all (well, except the avocado one.)

Question: Is there anything more interesting than the WCB on Edge Class with different specialty drink options, or should I expect the same "world class" options on the Edge class ships?

That bar was called the Molecular Bar. We actually sailed with Junior Merino once. He was onboard training some of the bartenders.  It was so much fun chatting with him each night. He was very protective of his "product " and wanted control over how his bar was managed. I'm not sure he was satisfied with how Celebrity reprrsented him.We loved the drinks that were created there. Definitely miss it!

  4. We have sailed out of Tampa twice, once late December, once early February. Our embarkation was affected both times. Once we spent the day at the airport and once at the local mall. The airport was actually a much better option. On our return in February fog was going to be an issue with getting into Port so the captain was able to get into Tampa early, by 9pm, and avoid the delay. I would consider this when planning flights at this time of year.

  5. Bonnie - do you know what/when the Azamazing Evening will be on Journey Feb 20th cruise to Cuba? Thanks...

Hi, Bonnie, I have to join in the discussion and ask about the Azamazing Evening for the January 24, 2019 Cuba intensive cruise on the Journey. I would love to start planning my evenings in Havana. Thanks in advance. ( I know it's the 4th so I don't expect an immediate reply, whenever you get the chance.)

  6. Last year on our Transpacific Crossing on Millennium, Celebrity were offering buy one get one free drinks packages the first few days. Whilst this seemed like a good deal, it really annoyed those who had paid full price in advance. (We didn't bother as we had the Elite Drinks and Michaels Club so didn't need more !)

Just wondering if anyone else had heard of these deals been offered recently on X, as I know it is rare to get liquor packages as a perk on repositioning cruises and am hoping it may be offered on our next crossing.

    Cheers :D

We were on the Millennium last year for the TP. We purchased a BOGO premium package before we sailed. It was one on their "flash sales" offered on their website. I've been checking for my repositioning from San Juan to Bayonne for the end of April but no luck so far.

  7. I don't understand, we've just got off the Eclipse and we had a premium package and all the martini's exceeded $13 so they all incurred the $1 or $2 charge as they were outside the premium package.

And we got off the Millennium 2 weeks ago. Virtually all the martinis were $12 and thus were included in the premium package. Is Celebrity rolling out a price increase for the Martini Bar? Is it possible pricing is different between the S class and M class ships?

  8. On one of our 14 night cruises there were two ladies who dressed like this every single night. I'm talking long gowns, feather boas, and huge hats. They looked like they were right out of the movie "Titanic" and their outfits were absolutely gorgeous. They always arrived about 15 minutes after first seating in the MDR and made a grand entrance. The first night we all just stared but by the 3rd night we watched for them and by the 4 night everyone applauded when they waltzed in! Every night they wore a completely different outfit and must have had trunks full of clothes and hats.

We sailed with these women on the Eclipse in 2016 in the Caribbean. They wore hats even during the day when they left the ship. My friend approached then one evening to compliment them and ask if she could take their picture. They told her that they were from Russia. They said that they love to cruise and they buy all new outfits for every cruise they take. We all looked forward to seeing what they would be wearing each night to dinner.

  9. On our Antarctic Cruise on Celebrity in February we had 2 excellent enrichment speakers full time, Mickey Live and a retired park ranger. They were crucial to making this cruise what it was. We went to each of their lectures every time they were offered.

In September we will spend 26 days on Celebrity on a TP and Japan intensive cruise. One of the Enrichment speakers has already introduced herself on our roll call. We're really looking forward to her lectures.

In June we cruised the fjords of Norway to the North Cape on the Koningsdam. They had NO enrichment speakers to educate us and enrich our experience. The cruise director read from a prepared script during our scenic cruising of the fjords. What a letdown. We were sadly disappointed. This trend to eliminate Enrichment speakers will definitely affect our decision to book future cruises with HAL.

  10. Great ship and a great cruise! Did it last year and really enjoyed it.

Here´s a detailed review with tips, tour operators etc. Let it be a teaser for your cruise...

Wow! Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your pictures and account of your Venice trip! We were on the Connie last October also and really enjoyed the itinerary. I'm looking forward to reviewing your other trips, too, as we have done many of the same cruises. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Plus you get a $50 discount on each leg.

I have to give a great big Thank You, Greg, for posting this. We had no idea that perk existed. We have 2 B2B cruises booked, one already paid for but we were able to get a total of $300 back on the 4 cruises. (On cruises longer than 10 days you get $100 on each cruise.) We also have a B2B on Azamara in January and checked their policy. They have a very generous shipboard credit that they apply to both cruises. (We'll see you on that cruise, Greg!) This s the beauty of Cruise Critic. It translates into very tangible advantages!

  12. I cannot resist but tell this amusing tale. The Celebrity Silhouette has a very popular Captain known as "Captain Demitrius" who is a Greek gentleman who could have his own late night comedy show. Every cruise he gives a talk (in the main theater) about the Bridge and ship operations...and its generally SRO...with most coming for the jokes. On one of these occasions he took questions from the passengers and a lady asked, "what happens if you get sick or are incapacitated." He responded, " my Staff Captain would take over...and he is a fully qualified Captain...and also Greek!" The lady then asked, "and what if he is also sick." Captain Demitrius responded, "My First Officer is also a licensed Captain and would easily take over.....and he is Greek!" And then somebody shouted out... what if he is also sick. Captain Demitrius took a long pause and then answered "Then, we are all having a very bad day. The next in command is not yet licensed as a Captain....and he is NOT Greek."

Love him! We had the opportunity to sail with him twice. Do you know if he still "captaining" for Celebrity?

  13. One other thing to consider that I had not thought about. In April we booked a partially obstructed cabin on Deck 6 on the Eclipse that ended up directly above the smoking area on Deck 5. It would have been impossible for me to sit out there. After the first day I stopped at Guest Relations to say that I would not have booked that cabin had I been aware of the smoking area. To their credit, they were able to move us to a higher deck in a concierge level cabin. So it worked out fine, but I would be careful next time.
