I would go with Celebrity. We usually sail Celebrity, but have taken 2 RC cruises- enjoyed both - but we do prefer Celebrity. Whichever you choose, you'll have a great trip.

Love this thread. My husband and I are in our late 60's and have been taking a yearly TA cruise for the last few years. His mobility is limited, but has used a travel scoot. We have loved meeting wonderful people of all ages-but mostly 55+-as we explored a little of Europe. I hope we will be able to continue for a long time.

Practically run me over with their scooter / power chair, like just because they have one, I'm supposed to automatically jump out of their way.
I have had a few laughs reading this thread. Unfortunately, this one upset me a little. My husband uses a scooter. He has never run someone down(yet). By the way, hope you are never limited in your mobility.

We may book this cabin for next year. Can you tell me the sleeping arrangements? I have heard conflicting info -- Celebrity is saying 2 sofa beds (1 sleeps 1, and the other sleeps 2). I have also heard there is only 1 sofa bed, and that rollaways have to be brought in to accommodate other 2 people). Thanks for your input.
The aft cabins have wonderful decks. They give you good coverage along with good room for 'sunning'. You will love any of them. There should be pictures of them somewhere on here. You might try a search.

Loved your pictures. Bill said he hates looking at them though because he wants to be there NOW!!

You can also post to that blog, or call/email the company, asking for TS owners who live near you, who may be willing to let you test drive their TravelScoot.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will check the site right now. With another cruise planned in August and then one in '13, it would pay for itself without having to rent anymore.
Happy New Year everyone. -
Miss Rabbit,
My husband weighs 400+ lbs and we have traveled 4 times with an onboard rental scooter, but for our upcoming April "12 San Juan departure, we are unable to find one. Neither Care Vacations nor Special Needs at Sea provide rentals for bariactric scooters from San Juan. Do you or anyone else know of a solution to our delemia?
Your posts have always been very helpful. I hope you can help us with this one.

We also purchased three seats. If your flight is not fully booked, you can get your money back for the third seat. Southwest is the most helpful-AirTran the least.

We had a look at an Access cabin on the Solstice last Feb. We have booked 1524 for our Oct. TA on the Equinox because of the ample size of the room. We managed fine last year, but the difference in size will make our Oct. cruise much more scooter friendly and over all more manageable.

our family of 8 did that cruise. My husband uses a travel scoot. Unfortunately all handicap accessible rooms were booked. We cruise at least once a year and have no problem with that type of room. I would try to reserve an accessible cabin for them if possible. Since there wasn't an accessible available, we reserved a jr suite and found his scoot fit perfectly. My husband rented scooters through the ship prior to purchasing his own Travel Scoot 6 years ago. It is smaller, lighter, and easier to use. It folds up and fits in a bag that is about the size of a golf bag. After just 2 cruises we had saved the cost of buying. We would not have been able to travel had it not been for scooters. This past Oct we did a Transatlantic from Rome to Miami with our grandson. We did everything and just like our Christmas Cruise on the Grandeur, had a great time. I know your parents will too.
