  1. So here I am sitting in South Africa (Our currency is worthless = cruising is very very expensive) checking fares week in week out for one of two specific European itinerary's in Oct 2023 on Infinity we really want to book. I had them booked last year and the the cruise was cancelled.

Thing is ... 75% off this guest, always included, 30% off both guests, BOGOF ... blah blah blah ! ... and the emails mails .. Last chance ! Only 2 days left !

But, when you go into the booking riiiggggghhhht up to the end there ... guess what .. the price remains the same ....

I am not naive, I know how the world turns and the way marketing works ... still ... never cruise Celebrity and really really want to.

I will lie if I say this is not getting to me a little....

As I said ...venting ... lol

  2. Hi All

We booked "Best of Spain and Portugal" on Infinity twice as we absolutely love the itinerary (2019 and 2022).... and both was cancelled.

Infinity was planned to be "revolutionized" in 2019/2020 already and as far as I know, their oldest in the fleet ?

Reports and reviews coming in is that she is starting to really show her age. We want to book Oct 11 2023 Best of Spain and Portugal, but its already 3 years on ....

Lot of money to spend to go on a "old boat" .... We are not from Europe or the States (living in a country with a weak currency)

Does anybody know or heard any rumors regarding a possible refurb ?

    Thx

Received notice from TA but only option was refund.  Asking about lift and shift.  Anyone else get a lift and shift option from their TA.  Could see that refund is the best, but I wanted a cruise!   🙂

We got our lift and shift options. Only 3 on the other side of the Med ! Which we have done before ...!

We would have waited for next year to do the Spain and Portugal, and been satisfied. Because its such a unique itinerary. Problem is there is no Spain and Portugal cruises in 2023 !

The Azamara etc alternatives are way more expensive ....

    Very Sad

TheShoot says "Anyway ... lets hope we can all still go cruising !"

I'll raise a Bluefish Martini to that and hope things become clearer.

Mystery, incompetence, conspiracy. A novel in forum form. We should be reading this on a ship.

    I'll raise a.....

Well said Spif B, well said ...

  5. Seems you have issue with everyone else that has an opinion or feeling here Guppy

Please read my post again ... you misunderstand the gist of it

Canderson also qualified what he said .... I dont think he is "uninformed" (quite the opposite it seems) and also not a conspiracy theorist .... just a realist and (what my post also covers) and unhappy customer.

Anyway ... lets hope we can all still go cruising !

    Just saw another example:

Agree with you completely if that if its true. Again that will be covered in the fineprint. I do however feel that most peoples "obligation as a consumers" only extends to a point where if they get treated in an unsatisfactory manner or see that others do, I FEEL they will take my business elsewhere ....

As a consumer, you have an obligation to understand what you are purchasing and what the risks or possible inconveniences might be. You sign up early and in exchange for any special cost/amenities and choice of accommodations, you take an increased risk that the cruise will be subject to change or cancelation.  You also need to read the fine print as you consent to it when making the purchase.  Also recognize that you are merely making a token deposit, not a full purchase until a few months prior. Your comments above are overly simplistic and just plain incorrect.

I should have made it clearer Guppy. My comments is how I feel about it. They are not an opinion about right and wrong, risk reward and consumer obligations. I FEEL that they should not advertise something and then later decide to sell a boat for instance ! You cannot tell me how I feel about something is incorrect.

I differ from you regarding the deposit which I don't see as a token. I see it as a commitment from the consumer to fulfill an obligation. Now the line has to fulfill theirs.

I fully understand the reality of fine print as well as the world we live in currently, which is why I added a caveat too

  8. When you advertise and take peoples money, you have an obligation to fulfill your end as a cruise line (obviously barring force majeure and lockdowns etc)

I really hope this is just a marketing strategy or diverting sales to a specific channel etc.

There is also that the longer they take if they mess with the ship , their customers could have booked and planned other options .......

  9. We are on for 20 Oct out of Barcelona for 11 nights. We booked the same in 2020 and it was cancelled.

I would be very unhappy and disappointed if Celebrity cancel this for anything other than a new outbreak/variant situation where they have no choice.

I look at it this way. Both us and Celebrity take a risk here.  They put a cruise out and we support them by taking up the risk with them. If they can just willy nilly cancel, sell ships, refurb ships etc then why can a passenger not do it when they feel like it ? Its a contract in my mind .. an undertaking in good faith ....

I will demand my full deposit back and Celebrity will not see me again ...

  10. Hi. I see its been awhile since someone discussed the Suites on the Spirit, but I thougt I would post my questions here in the hope that some who visited these suites would reply...

I have just booked Suite 10002 for 12 Night Eastern Med Cruise from 3 June 2012.

I did this after much research on the web. I am very worried though about three things involving the privacy of the two forward corner Delux Penthouse Suites on the Spirit (10502 Singapore Suite (light wood) and 10002 Malaysian Suite (dark wood))

    1. It looks like one can see down onto the front balcony from the protruding bridge windows in the middle above?

    2. It also looks like one can see down onto the small side balcony from the protruding side windows from the bridge above?

    3. I have read here that there is a camera close to the side balcony that gives the bridge vision of the side of the ship towards the back. According to a few this will give the bridge a view of your side balcony at all times ?

Now, if the answer to any of the above is yes, it would be creepy. For some it might not be an issue. I believe that my room should be private and my balcony should be an extension of my room. I just want to find the facts first.

Can anyone that's been in the suites before or knows the ship give me feedback please.

    Much appr
