  1. If you have the time, I would highly recommend staying for about three days at the Kantishna Road House at the end of the 92 mile road into Denali National Park. There is a main lodge, separate cabins for guests, day trips for fishing, hiking, even panning for gold, sled dog exhibitions, guest lecturers, and there is an airstrip close by for flights around Mt McKinley (Denali) if the weather permits, which it often doesn't. They have excellent food, and great hospitality. They use their own bus from near the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. Here is their website.

    Hope this helps.

  2. So, here I am at breakfast in the Windjammer and I see one of my traveling companions coming to my table with her tray. Now she had booked a scuba diving trip for later in the morning, and I guess she wanted to save some time, because she was decked out in a full body wet suit! In the Windjammer. Coming to MY table. Not much room at those tables to hide under.

Nice lady, but her elevator definitely did not make it up to the Lido Deck.

  3. I'm kinda new to cruising, but have had the privilege of travelling pretty heavily. I'm just a young guy and have no right to give advice to anybody, but here goes.

I think the same simple rules apply to everything, everywhere. Be good to people, laugh off the potential annoyances, and be sure it's worth it before you make a stand for something; then see it through reasonably and fully.

Most of all, just drink in the experience. You're on vacation. Even when it's not perfect, those are still the good times.

You are wise beyond your years. With an attitude like that, you are going to have a great life.

  4. I would be perfectly delighted with GS :), but DH will not "settle" for anything less than OS.

    Oh poor, poor me. ;):D

I'm with your DH. My wife said the GS would be fine- heck, she would have settled for an inside cabin, but that's my wife for you- but I like the extra space. Besides, we have nine others in our group and I want the space for pre-dinner get-togethers, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails (love those Yellow Birds in the Caribbean).
