  1. We were just in a spa balcony last week. There were no smoke smells although we did find matches and a burned paper on our balcony one morning. We had a cabin between ours and our friends two doors down. The folks in the middle we did not know. Threw stuff onto our balcony and beer cans onto our friends. Other than that, we loved the room. Convenient to everything we wanted.Wish the spa rooms also had spa menus for food instead of the standard menu for room service.

  2. Renting a car in Cozumel. A word of strong advice for those who have not rented in Mexico before.....

I lived there for several years and rented cars when friends would come to town. In Mexico if you rent a car you need to take the full insurance. Even though your credit card may cover your accident, without full insurance you will be required to pay upfront all the costs covering the accident and wait for your credit card company to reimburse you. You could also be taken to jail until everything is sorted out.

    Just my two cents.

  3. What does the tour at the estate consist of because the whole tour looks to be 7 hours long. With a 3 hour bus ride and maybe hour for stops that would leave about three hours there.

  4. We booked an inside for exactly the same reasons but we moved from a Havana to a Cloud 9 spa inside. I saw that the Havana pool/bar area is open to all after 5 p.m. which is when we'd be back from excursions so we had little need for the privacy there during the day. I thought we would use the spa/sauna etc. perhaps more on the return to the ship after a long day. Still not sure where the THALASSOTHERAPY POOL is going to be situated as I can't find it on the deck plans yet.

  5. I did hear back from Sebastian at Pira and they will put together a 10 o'clock tour for our ship with confirmation from 10 people. I have posted the information on our roll call Infinity February 5, 2017. If anyone from 2016 is interested, he said they are booking that now. Here is the info....

    WALK IN PENGUIN ROOKERY

Departing from our office at the tourist dock in Ushuaia, we drive in our modern minibuses towards northeast along Nationals route 3 & J, the legendary road to Estancia Harberton (the first farm on the island, founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges, located 90 Km from Ushuaia, on the Beagle Channel).

We sail from Harberton harbor to Martillo Island, a 15 minute ride on a semi-rigid boat (vessel capable of navigation in the area). On the island, we will walk for 1 hour along Gentoo and Magellanic penguins, always with a guide, experiencing a unique adventure only with us!

    TOTAL TIME: 6 hours (Starting at 8am & 2.30pm)

FEE FROM USHUAIA: U$D 110 + entrance fee to Harberton Farm (U$D 20 per person)

  6. I have a cabin question for anyone.....

We are currently booked in an OV cabin in the front of the ship. Not worried about seasickness. Is there a reason to book a balcony rather than an OV? I know it's going to be cold and, for those of you who booked balconies, do you foresee your spending time out there or spending the majority of the time at the front of the ship outside or inside the lounge looking out? I am considering changing to a balcony but the price is quite a bit more.

    Thanks..

  7. bocaraton - We are on your cruise as well and are wondering about Jamaica. Have never been to that port and we are not primarily up for sitting on the beach all day. If you find a snorkel/sail private tour we would be very interested in joining if you need additional people. We used to live in Playa del Carmen across from Cozumel so that one is no problem for us. Although, the sargassum situation in the Riviera Maya is so bad now I'm not quite sure which direction to head as of yet.

  8. We've done two out of San Juan this year and walked right on in the afternoon around 2ish I believe. I also concur with those before...my favorite port to sail from. Love having a few extra days to take in the culture before leaving. Last time we stayed at Ciqala Suites because we had a need for 3 bedrooms. Beautiful unit, upstairs pool area and bar, centrally located. Very, very nice. They had an elevator, full kitchen, 2 baths, living room, dining room and laundry.

  9. So, we've booked a Havana inside for access to the Havana pool and bar in the aft but I've just seen that the Cloud 9 spa rooms are only $10 more/cabin for the inside cabins. My concern is that the spa rooms on deck 12 are right next to the Waterworks. I would love access to the spa amenities but don't know about the noise factor from the Waterworks area. Any thoughts or insights?

    Thank you.

  10. Hi all,

We have not cruised Princess before (Celebrity 3x) and am wondering about two things if anyone can help. In the aft, are the balconies by the Terrace pool noisy from the bar above and is the smoking area in the aft by that pool?

    Thanks so much.

  11. St Croix - first day out was just a relaxing day. Walked off the ship and to the left to the beach. Rented beach chairs and an umbrella = 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas for $26. Easy walk and my family could walk back and forth to the ship for lunch. Talked with some of the ex-pat locals. Hint to buy rum in Dominica instead of St Croix because the Dominica rum is made according to old recipes and uses sugar cane.

St Kitts - the only island I virtually stayed on the ship for. I have no idea why, it just didn't excite me.

Dominica - caught a taxi from town and went snorkeling at Champagne Beach. Taxi was $60 USD for 3 people round trip. This was not a van because I didn't want to go with a group of people and then have to follow everyone else's schedule. So, I walked around town for a few minutes - be prepared it is not that nice and found my own taxi. Spent several hours at Champagne. Beach is VERY rocky and water shoes are recommended. Be careful of stepping on sea urchins. Bought our rum in town across the street and to the left of the pier.

Grenada - went to Grand Anse beach for the day. Took the water taxi (to the left of the exit) for $6/person round trip. Dropped us off at the beach. We walked left and got chairs because we had our sons and grand daughter with us. If you want less people and no services walk right and keep going past the umbrellas. Beautiful down there. After the beach we wanted to get some of the island spices. Walked to Dots - small store by the waterfront and bought a ton. Be careful if walking to Dots because the directions take you thought a tunnel that we thought was pedestrian until cars started coming at us while we were walking through. To get to Dots walk through the mall attached to the pier and head out the front doors. Turn right and keep walking past the stores. Ahead you will see steep stairs across the street and a tunnel below. Do not climb the stairs but go through the tunnel and continue walking. Make a right to walk down to the waterfront and a left. Dots will be on your left. Ask if you can't find it....people were happy to help. I wish I had bought more there. Very reasonable and great stuff.

St Thomas - we have been here a few times and take the self explore trip to St John. Catamaran will leave you off in Cruz Bay and take the island taxi to the beach you want to visit. Be back at the cat around 2:45 to head back. My favorite trip.

We had a FV cabin off the aft on the side. Huge room and balcony with a table that sat 6 and two loungers. One of my sons had the larger OV at the front of the ship that was larger than a traditional OV. My other son had a cabin in the conference area that was made into rooms during the last dry dock. Large window but small room. Their room attendants made the trip for them. Our room attendant was non-existent.

We had the earlier seating for dinner this time and Peggie/Ricardo were excellent servers. I did not like the earlier seating however. We always felt rushed getting ready after the sail away.

Sunset Bar is a great place to gather in the evening for drinks. We had the classic drink package and it's just fine. We have had the premium in the past and just wasn't cost effective for us.

Boarding - very easy both time we've departed from San Juan. No lines even though we showed up at noon to embark. Luggage followed shortly after. Disembarking at the end is not fun as they make you wait in a designated area for quite awhile before they call your number. Long line at customs and immigration. At the airport make sure you put your bags through agriculture if you are returning to the U.S.

When eating at the Oceanview Cafe there are more comfortable seats at the aft of the Cafe than the middle or the front. No idea why those are upgraded but we ate there for lunch. Most breakfasts were done in the room through room service.

Let me know if you have other questions.
