  1. We are already booked to travel to the Caribbean on Arcadia leaving Southampton on 7th October. Following the first stop in the Azores we are scheduled to visit St. Marten, which as we know has been hit badly by Irma. I contacted P & O directly over a week ago and was told that it is possible we will have a change to the itinerary or maybe an overnight at one of the other ports. If you are due to travel with P & O and have any worries call the customer service team, you won't be the first and without a doubt you won't be the last. I think the website information just about covers all that we can expect at this stage and we are happy to know that what ever happens we will have a great cruise. It will be disappointing if we don't get to see all the islands we had hoped for, but when I booked I knew I was booking at the end of the hurricane season. My disappointment will be nothing compared to the despair of those who have lost pretty much everything.

  2. This is such sad news and our thoughts are with all involved and those who have been touched by this tragedy. My son and his girlfriend are on Azura at the moment and called in the early hours of this morning to tell us what had happened and to let us know they were not involved. This cruise has had a few issues to deal with but this terrible accident must have saddened everyone on board.

  3. My son and his girlfriend are on the Azura at the moment. They rang from Ponta Delgada where it was pouring with rain. Determined to make the most of the situation they used the extra day to hire mopeds and visit the twin crater lakes. They got a poor view because of the weather, but said they had a lot of fun despite getting a good soaking. Evidently the captain assured them they could make up a lot of the time and would not miss St. Martin. They arrived late but they made it. As Patsy Flower said "Better late than never!"

  4. You can find some information about lost property on the Advice Centre on the P & O website. It says they will only contact you if they have traced your lost item within 21 days. I guess they will not contact you at all if it's not found.

You like to think everyone is trustworthy and honest but sadly there can be unscrupulous people everywhere.

  5. We are off to Norway in a couple of days on Azura. We have cruised several times in Norway and usually take around £200 in Krona. It's always far too much, but you never know one day we might find something irresistible. We used cash for the trains in Bergen a couple of years ago to visit a stave church and for the train from Trondheim to Hell! If you have already booked your excursions you probably don't need much money at all, just enough for coffee and cakes or maybe (if the sun shines) ice creams. As others have said already, cards are accepted in most places

  6. If you are trying to book directly with P & O and are having trouble getting to speak to someone, you can go onto the website to arrange a call back. Go to the bottom of the page to Contact Us and in a blue square section you can find the way to request a call. Just might be worth giving it a try.

  7. We cruised the fjords in August last year on Azura. The weather was warm and sunny every day. Even the North sea was unexpectedly kind. We have been to Norway several times in late summer and although you are likely to get a bit of rain at some point, it should still be warm. The best part of a fjords cruise is the scenery and this will be spectacular no matter what the weather. Hope you book it and have a wonderful cruise.

  8. We are on Azura to Norway in August. This will be our sixth Fjords cruise and we certainly now how expensive it can be to buy anything in Norway. In Stavanger a couple of years ago we were charged the equivalent of £16 for four AA batteries. Now we take about £200 in Krone for coffee, cake or ice-cream with a bit in reserve for anything irresistible. Anything left over can be saved for your next visit to Norway... once will not be enough! I recommend you get up early in the mornings to enjoy sailing in through the fjords. Enjoy your cruise, the scenery is fabulous.
