We were able to upgrade from a obstructed oceanview to a family balcony free of charge. The price for the balcony cabin came down to the same amount we had paid for the oceanview cabin. We just called our travel agent, who checked with NCL and they accepted to upgrade us without any additional charge to us. We are sailing December 29 and did this upgrade last weekend.

The kids are 11 and 13 and are well travelled. We have taken them to Europe a few times, many cruises and down south trips. We usually use public transportation if possible from the airport so are open to those suggestions. We are thinking about staying at the Best Western near the PATH Newark for 2 nights, and then maybe park at the Port Imperial Ferry and take that to the cruise terminal the next day. Does that make sense or can you offer better advice? How is Secaucus and how unconvenient is it to go to Manhattan for a day?

We are booking NCL cruise that departs on December 29 from Manhattan cruise terminal. We are a family of 4 (2 teens) and will be driving from Ottawa. We plan to spend at least a day or two before touring NY. Our plan was to stay in NJ where we could have a hotel for 2-3 nights and we could leave the car there while we cruise for 10 nights, instead of driving in Manhattan and parking at the pier. Also, because we are 4, it seems that most hotels in Manhattan would require 2 rooms, therefore much more expensive. Does anyone have advice on good hotels where we could go to Manhattan on a day trip the one or two days before and then leave our car there for 10 nights?

does anyone know if there are coffee makers in balcony rooms on the Epic? If yes, what type? I was on the Getaway a few months ago and the coffee was really bad, so we might want to bring our own.

We are booked on the EPIC in January and have received 600$ in OBC. 100 from NCL and 500$ from the travel agency. We have 2 cabins for our family. Can the OBC from the travel agency be used to pay gratuities? We want to have the UBP and kids soda package, but want to order it before we leave. We just want to make sure that we will not be left to spend this on other things, or we should wait until we are on board to buy the UBP.

We purchased internet minutes (250 minutes for 62$) on board and brought our own laptop. We did the Skype by phone a few times and were able to do a video Skype twice. The connection was not strong enough in our cabin, but it worked great from the internet room. We called our kids back home every 2-3 days and other than then 2 second delay, did not have issues. This was in September.
