I recently completed the Trans-Pacific crossing on Westerdam in a partially obstructed view cabin (4087). I was very happy with the cabin as the floor to ceiling window allowed in plenty of light, the position of the bed was good, and on a crossing that was cold and sometimes pretty rough I still enjoyed the benefits of the view. You should be mindful that from time to time a crew member will appear outside your window checking equipment. I only noticed this in port so just kept the sheer curtain drawn to avoid a surprise. The central location was really nice as well.

Thanks for the responses. I feel more confident now and will also check with the booking agency.

I have both faxed and mailed the documentation for the OBC that is given to Carnival shareholders but haven’t received any confirmation in return. What experience have you had? Did you get a confirmation before embarking or not.
Thanks

I'm considering trying to visit the Kakunodate samurai district from Akita on my own (via rail) rather than taking the ship excursion in April of this year. Has anyone made this trip on your own and do you have anything I should keep in mind. Thanks for your input.

I will be on my first cruise with Cunard later this spring and have a question about dining in the main dining room. I think my assigned time will be the later one. Is it ever possible to walk up and get a table for one at a time other than assigned. Sometimes I may just want to enjoy the ambience of the room but have a solo dinner. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Does anyone know what is in the blank space at mid-ship on Dec 4 - Westerdam? I was looking at "G" partial ocean view cabin but concerned what might be next door.
thanks.

I'll be doing a back to back cruise in April (changing from Cunard to Holland) and need to find out if there is a place to store my luggage at the port in Yokohama. I'll be finishing one cruise and starting the next on the same day, but would like to explore a little in the hours between.
Thanks

I'd really only want to do the trolley if the weather is awful. Otherwise those four 15-20 minute stops don't really cut it to enjoy walking the park and a seeing a different landscape than I have here in Texas.
Probably taxi is going to be best to be dropped off near a trail head and then arrange a pick up time to get back.

I'll be making an early season visit to Bar Harbor on May 18th. From what I can see the Island Explorer doesn't start up till June. What are my options for getting to Acadia. I don't want to do the trolley tour as there is so little time to explore the park on foot.

The village of Orvieto is an hour train ride away. It is a lovely peaceful getaway from hectic Rome. From the train you take the funicular up to the top for the village and then can just walk around and have a nice lunch.

Please share your experience and recommendations for hotels / B&B in Dublin. I want to have a fairly inexpensive place (under $150 USD) but in a location that is safe and good for walking around to the sites. If you have some you DON'T recommend please share as well. Thanks. (May 2020 timeframe)
