  1. DH and I just booked a cruise on the Ecstasy in December. I have a couple crazy questions for this cabin if anyone can help. This is a handicap accessible cabin. We have a disabled person traveling.

    1. Where is the muster station located for this cabin?

    2. Are the beds facing forward or aft?

    3. In other handicap accessible cabins, water from the shower seemed to leak onto the cabin floor. Is that the case for this cabin, too?

    4. Is there a hump/lip that you have to step over to get on the balcony?

Thanks for your help!!! I'm sure I'll think of plenty more questions as the time gets closer.

  2. Thank you so much! I'm giving my parents a cruise on the Sunshine next year. My mom has trouble walking long distances and using stairs so I wanted to make sure they were close to the dining room that had ATD.

Ohhh...which MDR is breakfast, lunch, and brunch held in.

    Thanks again!

  3. I booked one cruise with a TA. Getting price drops was a PAIN. All I ever heard about them was, "Don't you know this cuts in on my commission?". Well...that was the first and last time I used one. I have a GREAT PVP that I use. He looks out for price drops and submits them for me. He also found me a cabin that I was wanting but was never showing up as available online. Well worth it for me to book through him.

  4. Thanks for the review of our favorite ship! Sorry you had a had time booking the Chef's Table. Both times that we booked it, we did so through the request form on John Heald's blog. Within 24 hours, we received a confirmation email from the ships maitre' d. And, being a teacher, I agree with you about the grammar and spelling on the Fun Times. However, I just chalk it up to it being done by someone from another country (not that this is an excuse, but spelling and grammar may vary from other countries).

I can't wait to sail on her again. We're just up the road a little bit past you so getting to the port is easy peasy for us too.

  5. OP.....if it's been several years (2009 and not even on a Carnival ship according to your signature), why are you waiting 5 years to post this? IF I got as sick as you did, I would have posted something right after it happened to share my experiences.

If cruising appears to be a hazard to your health, then maybe you should take "staycations" (stay at home during vacation) because you won't subject yourself to germs from people at the airport, hotels, resorts, etc. The person who rented the car before you may have had some illness. The person who stayed in the hotel room before you may have had some illness. The person next to you on the airplane may sneeze or cough.

If you don't think it's worth it to cruise, that's fine. However, I'll continue to take my chances and cruise.

  6. Been through the boarding process in Charleston with mobility issues. Parking was free because I had a placard. There is a special area of the warehouse for handicap parking. Some of the shuttle buses have a lift so you won't have to climb the steps to get on the bus. Once over to terminal, there are wheelchairs available right inside the terminal door. There will be Carnival employees there available to help you. They will push you through the security check then wheel you up to a special check-in window. After you have checked-in, they'll wheel you around and you'll board on Deck 1. The Carnival employee will then take you to where you want on the ship. He/she will drop you off and you are then on your own. If you need to rent a wheelchair while on board, you will need to go to the GSD as soon as you board and rent one. When you disembark, there will be a waiting area in the atrium for you. Again, wheelchairs will be available to help you get off the ship and through the terminal.

  7. Here's what Carnival's website says about the Best Price Excursions Guarantee.

Like most Carnival guests, you're planning some fun ashore during your upcoming cruise...and like everyone, you want that shore excursion at the best price. Booking yours through Carnival is not only easier and more reliable, but will make your wallet happy too.

    Here's how it works:

    • Purchase one of our amazing Carnival Shore Excursions! If you find that shore excursion elsewhere for a lower price, submit your claim online.
    • Within 48 hours, you will be notified if your claim meets the Best Price Guarantee’s criteria.
    • If your claim is accepted, you will receive 110% of the difference in price to enjoy in the form of an onboard credit.
    • The following restriction applies: Carnival’s Best Price Guarantee only applies to shore excursions that are advertised with pricing and publicly available.

  8. FTTF became available for my cruise. I know I read on here you only need to buy the one for the entire cabin, but what really makes no sense is why you have to select one of the occupants. They haven't changed anything right? It's still just one for the entire cabin?

That's correct - just one for the entire cabin.

  9. Every time we sail on the Fantasy, we have noticed the same thing about the line for ATD. However, once the doors opened, the line moved rather quickly, especially for those people (like us) that requested the same table and wait staff each night. We got up to the door, told them our cabin numbers and what table we wanted. Easy peasy...

  10. I don't see a problem with this. The crew are very hardworking people who don't have very much "down time". It's not like they can leave and go down the road to visit another place. The ship is only so big and as long as they are not interfering with any of the passengers, I don't see a problem with it. Even if I have to wait behind a crew member for something to drink, my vacation would NOT be ruined. Nor would I pitch a fit about it.

  11. We plan all of our vacations (cruises and land-based) a year or longer out. We can travel anytime of the year and try to avoid the times when kids are out of school. The rates are usually lower and we can basically have our choice of cabins. Anything can come up at anytime regardless of what kind of vacation you plan and when you plan it.

  12. The Bottomless Bubbles program would probably be the best route to go. You'll pay what averages out to be about 2 sodas for kids or 3 for adults per day(and then the rest will be "free") and the 15% is added at the beginning so you don't have to worry about it being tacked on for each drink.
