  1. I thought we were getting off the ship yesterday but we are getting off this morning in Roatan. The wife is doing good. Yes both of us has been vaccinated with booster. The doctor said she is a symptomatic that’s why she had no systems. She is doing very well. Thank you guys for all your prayers. RCCL should change the rules to 72 hours before boarding so everyone could get the PCR test instead of RAPID. RCCL done a very good job of taking care of my wife. We have no complaint on the way everything were handled.

Before the cruise take a rapid antigen test rather than a PCR. You will likely be able to pass an antigen test before your sail date but potentially not a PCR.

Bad info. We took the PCR but were afraid the test wouldn’t make it back on time so we took the RAPID the next day which came back negative. We received our PCR test results the second day of the cruise and my wife came back positive. We did the right thing an reported to medical. My wife is in the COVID ward now and they are flying us home tomorrow. We are on A b2b so our vacation has been cancel. So why worry about a negative result from the RAPID and you got COVID. I wonder how many people on this ship with COVID but not know because they took the RAPID.

Sorry to hear about your wife. Hopefully she will have an uneventful recovery.

Having said that, I take it you were on the ship for a day or 2 before you received the positive results. Is Royal contact tracing anybody your wife came in contact with during those couple of days?  I suppose that would be quite difficult but I read of a teen who came down with Covid while on the ship and 2 other teens she befriended has to quarantine.   Also, is she experiencing any symptoms?

They told me they will look at the security camera to see who we came in contact with. We were at a bar talking to a couple for over an hour and at the casino. I just hope they found them people.

  4. We are on Allure right now and my wife has COVID so they moved her to a COVID unit on ship. I have to stay in my cabin for 24 hours. We took the PCR on Saturday but were afraid that our results wouldn’t return on time so we took the RAPID test on Sunday and both of us were negative on the RAPID. We received the test from Saturday this morning with the wife coming back positive an I came back negative again. We did the right thing an informed the medical staff. They tested both of us again with her positive an me negative. We are scheduled for a b2b but we have to leave the ship when we return to port. Hats off to RCCL for making sure all the protocols are met. We will be missing our cruise but I feel good that she won’t be passing it to other guest because of the protocol. It is what it is and we live for another cruise.  I can’t visit my wife but she said they are taking good care of her.

  5. Leaving for London tomorrow, with the Eurostar and flying to Orlando Tuesday on Norwegian's Air 789. I'll be spending 4 nights in Orlando where I have rented a car and will be hitting the outlets.

Saturday I will be driving to Fort Lauderdale and return my rental car. I am embarking the Freedom next Sunday for my first Transatlantic crossing. As long as Freedom's internet cooperates, I plan on taking you along.

I am spending my first night close to MCO, at the Best Western Airport Inn and Suites, that I booked through Priceline. I have an AirBNB booked for 3 nights in the Dr. Phillips neighbourhood. I specifically looked for hosts with dogs [emoji846]. In Fort Lauderdale I booked the Marriott Harbor and Beach Resort Spa.

As you already noticed, I will be doing a pre-cruise report too.

I will be staying in promenade stateroom 8631, at the time of booking it was the same price as a regular inside. I had originally booked a 16-night crossing on the Rhapsody, but it got redeployed. I ended up with $200 OBC for the inconvenience. I will be doing specialty restaurants. I have BOGO booked for the first two nights and I also booked Sabor and Giovanni's. I will also be doing MTD for the first time.

Photos I post here will be taken with my Iphone SE. I am also taking my Nikon D3300 with a 105mm lens, but posting pictures is much easier with my Iphone as you all know, much easier if you're being lazy!

My usual travel mate, my mom, won't be joining me on this journey. She decided that being on the ship this long (we have 8 consecutive sea days) wasn't for her. I'll miss my roomie!

We had a very active roll call, with tons of activities (slot pull, cabin crawl, chocolate sampling, etc). Lots of members have tours organised and I have signed up for those non-ship tours.

My bags are packed and I'm ready to go

Advance booking doesn't work for BOGO. You have to booked once you are on the ship. We found out the hard way.

  6. This post has turned into a post about status. The OP is talking about one diamond member only. If you are a butt hole you wil be one no matter of your status. The people who have status have given RCCL a lot of money so if they want to wear their pins and name tags what is the problem? I think its a conversation piece. If you want to know something about cruising I go to these people for valuable information that has been helpful just like this board. Would you prefer people talking about their job are cruising? I'm on vacation and don't want to talk about my job so talk about cruising with these People who have cruising status and stop being a hater.

  7. Yes, however there are still a small number of ships that may only serve free soda and wine. I believe Majesty is one. All ships will have 3 free drink vouchers per evening at any bar (in addition to unlimited drinks on the lounge), but I don't believe that is fleet wide yet.

    What ship are you considering?

    Jewel of the Seas.
