  1. We had the Trio package on the Seaview and had a great experience. Butcher's Cut was my favorite restaurant, but the oysters 3 ways at Ocean Cay was my favorite dish of the entire cruise.

We were a table of 9 at Ocean Cay and oddly one or two people got a slightly different menu. It looks like the menu on the website you linked. The one in kodesthemoose's post was the correct one (as of June anyways).

  2. (I assume the sofabed gets folded away every morning, yeah?)

We actually did the sofa bed opening and closing ourselves after our cabin steward showed us how. It's pretty easy. It's just too hard to get around with it open, so much easier to open it when we're ready, and close it as soon as everyone is up. We didn't feel too crowded when the sofa bed was closed.

There isn't much storage space (and we travel fairly light). The only drawer is in the desk. I wish I'd brought hanging organizers.

  3. Is this because the main bed was closer to the balcony in your room? I feel like I've only seen pics where the sofa bed is closer to the balcony. Do you have any room pics? :)

Yes, our main bed was by the balcony and the sofa bed was by the toilet. We were in a Super Family Plus (3 connecting balconies). The room my friend and her family were in had the main bed by the toilet and the bunk bed by the balcony.

  4. We had the double sofa bed on the Seaview. When it's open, it's literally 2 inches away from the desk. It's impossible to walk from the bed to the toilet. The only way is to crawl over the sofa bed. I got pretty good at it! LOL. So yeah, if you can switch to the bunk bed, that would be better.

  5. Thanks for the link. Now it's making me think of booking my parents as well -- so 6, hopefully it's 3 connecting cabins and not 3 in each...

The layout of the Super Family Plus is one cabin that fits 4 (sofa converts to a bunk), one cabin that fits 4 (sofa converts to a pull-out double), and one cabin that fits 2 (this one has a tub).

This is what I gathered from the ship plan as well as the trip report I linked. I will see for myself on the Seaview soon!

  6. So I am assuming if I have a family of 4 they will give me 2 rooms if I book this Cat?

The 2 connecting cabins category is called "Super Family". On Seaside/Seaview, it fits 6 max for one base price, taxes and fees are charged separately per person. The 3 connecting one is "Super Family Plus", which fits 10 max.

There was a great trip report about the Super Family Plus, here:

  7. in my day 2 review i went over it a little bit, but our TA linked our reservations together and we were originally all seated at the same time but we went to the Maitre’d and had our tables

places near each other and also had one big table for 14

Thank you! I've been reading about cabins within the Super Family Plus not even being assigned the same dining time, so was wondering if I should even bother linking all the other cabins. Glad to hear of a positive experience.

  8. Thank you for the review. Love the food photos!

I'll be travelling with a big group too. Wondering how you arranged to be seated together in the MDR? Were your reservations linked and it was automatically assigned together, or did you have to go work it out once you boarded? Thank you!

  9. I have a Super Family Plus cabin booked on the Seaview. It's 3 connected cabins and my understanding was that it's one price no matter if I put 1 or 10 people in it (with the exception of taxes/fees which are charged per person).

I was going to share with my friend and her family, but now she's not sure if she can go. If they don't go, I would only need 2 cabins. I was thinking of booking 2 separate cabins as backup and asked my TA. But he's adamant that if my friend cancels, the rate can be adjusted.

    So - 2 questions:

    1) Has anyone changed a Super Family Plus (3 connected cabins) to a Super Family (2 connected cabins) when the Super Family is sold out? The connected cabins I believe can be locked off, so logistically it seems feasible, but does MSC allow this?

    2) If I go the route of booking backup cabins, does MSC allow the same person to be booked in more than 1 cabin on the same sailing?

Hoping to get some feedback before I call MSC. Thank you!

  10. Very good question! Sailing on Meraviglia in 12 weeks time - she'll be less than 2 weeks old then so it'll be interesting to hear from those who've experienced MSC new-builds before. Failing that, at least you'll get reports from those of us who are early cruisers on both Meraviglia and Seaside.

Looking forward to hearing reports of the Meraviglia! 3 new ships launched within one year...hopefully they'll have learned some things by the third one. :)

  11. Hello! I'm new to posting here, but have been lurking for a while.

We have the Seaview booked, while not for the inaugural cruise, within a month of it. We're pretty new to cruising (only a short RCCL one many years ago and a Disney one more recently) and have never been on a very new ship. I'm a little obsessive and like to know what to expect - so I'm hoping for some historical knowledge?

How has MSC been in the past with brand new ships in regards to having things running smoothly by the first sailing, or cancelling first sailings?

    Thank you!
