  1. Be aware that if you go to Sunset, the chairs are being rented by some dubious actors.  They told us $20 for the chairs and "I'll come by and give you a massage".  They made it seem like it was included but at the end of the 15 minute foot massage, they wanted another $45 and were very insistent.  I should have pushed the point because the women interrupted the service when they saw the "tax man" then returned when he was apparently gone.  I have been to St. Martin/St. Maarten many times and never experienced such pushy locals.  They practically dragged you into the shops downtown.

  2. My husband and I took our daughters to DRF many years ago when they were 6 and 9. The six year old was not able to negotiate the falls and had to climb the steps while the rest of us climbed the falls within eyeshot of her. I wish someone would have told me it would be too difficult for such a young person. My nine year old was basically "pulled" up the falls as you had to link hands in a group.

  3. My husband and I took a honeymoon cruise on Song of America in 1983. We stopped at Nassau, St. Thomas and San Juan. My only knowledge of cruising was from watching "The Love Boat". Our inside cabin was TINY. Our cabin steward was on call 24/7 and had an uncanny knack for knowing when we were gone so he could make up the room.

Back in the day, one could get RCCL match books and I have one in my collection. Great thread for reminiscing.

  4. Beware that whether or not the porters take the case of water is entirely at their discretion. Sometime I've had no problem checking a case of water but three years ago at Port Canaveral, they would not take it and it was a PITA carrying it onboard myself. The rooms were not ready so I just left it in a corner near our room and luckily it was still there when I went back for it when the rooms became open.

  5. I am also just off the 3/21 sailing. One of the major improvements are actual wash basins in areas like the Windjammer entrance, ice cream station, Diamond and Concierge lounges. They make you watch a video on hand washing (wash at least 20 seconds) at the muster drill. By the end of our trip, monitors would not let you pass into the Windjammer without washing. I like that better than the Purell anyway. Other venues, insisted you Purell like the casino and other restaurants. I never touch railings and push elevator buttons with my elbow. Thankfully, we avoided Noro but DH woke up with a cold.

  6. DH and I are not fans of My Time Dining. We like the traditional main dining room with an occasional specialty restaurant. That being said, we will experience Dynamic Dining this March on Quantum. Just making the reservations was enough to give me a headache especially since their web site was not working properly. I haven't even looked at booking shows. I hope my dining reservations do not clash with the shows or I'll be back to square one.

  7. My husband requests a cigar bar on every RCCL survey he completes and the end of the cruise. Yes, he cruises on ships without a cigar bar but really enjoys an after dinner cigar and brandy and takes advantage of it on the ships with an INDOOR area. The Oasis class cigar areas are useless. I hope Quantum does indeed have the cigar bar it is rumored to have.
