good morning Rich We will be joining you in San Diego.Have you noticed any smoke issues from the casino? 

Anyone trying to maneuver through Hal website would probably end up in the insane asylum.What a mess.Why they don’t they revamp it?

I will be on a 10 day in March and 35 days in April.this should save a few dollars.thanks again

Where can I find on the HAL web site to pre pay my gratuity’s.As usual the site is not very user friendly.

as a new update after we told we were in violation of the PVSA and had to cancel the Montreal to Boston cruise.which we did with a full refund.Today Hal called said they were wrong so they rebooked our canceled cruise.It seems they have hired a lot of new people that didn’t understand about the PVSA act.By stopping in carteghena that met the requirements.Thanks for all your help 

Hi Rich we will join you in San Diego on the 6th of April for the Fll trip.Really looking forward to your posts. Room 3327 so we will be neighbors.We did this trip last year on the Zaandam and loved it.

Was on the Venezia in September and the non smoking casino was freezing everyone wore jackets.it is small and crowded.

Not sure the volendam has lanai cabins that open onto the deck.maybe wrong but don’t think so.deck 3 is all ov rooms.

The end of this saga is after talking to numerous Hal representatives.i had to cancel the Fll to Montreal and the Montreal to Boston.I did get them to promise a full refund.this was their mistake I should have been told at time of booking about the Jones act.Lesson learned I hope it may help someone else in the future thanks for all your help.

I am sure that’s the case in the email they said I had five days until they were going to cancel the Montreal to Boston leg.with the holidays just not sure who to contact

On this cruise I board in San Diego stop in a number of foreign ports and end in Boston.Hal states that they consider this one continuous cruise per there email.

not sure what I am missing here? if I fly from Fll to Boston which I do a lot no problems.But if I go by ship then that’s a violation? is this correct?

It is under separate booking numbers since we booked each leg at different times. It just amazes me that HAL would have let us book & take our money then wait a month to tell us about the violation.also they are going to keep our payment for the Montreal to Boston leg??

We have booked and paid for three cruises back to back which Hal considers one cruise.San Diego to Fort Lauderdale on to Montreal ending up in Boston.Just got an email from Hal saying we were in violation of passenger service act.they are going to cancel the Montreal to Boston leg with no refund.we talked to our Hal pvp she said she would take care of it.However she also said that Hal has hired a lot of new people.it is very obvious that this is a mistake but still worried our cruise will get cancelled.Is there another contract department or number we can call to make sure this is resolved? Thanks 

why would anyone pre buy casino chips? so much easier to buy them at the table.

Hal’s web site is more like a disaster.it is by far the worst of all the cruise web sites I use.

Casino gambling in older ships versus newer ships is not a valid test.Older ships have very small casinos with older type slot machines and less passengers.I was on the Zaandam last spring and hardly went into the casino.The Rotterdam has a modern casino and a lot more gamblers.I do feel if the casinos were smoke free they would do just as well.people will gamble smoke or no smoke.

We did comment on our survey about smoking in the casino.However if you think it was bad on the Rotterdam you could sail on any other cruise ship or line and it would be much worse.Sailed on the Venezia last month the smoke was so bad like walking through a fire.Maybe that’s why I didn’t think it was bad on the Rotterdam.

I just got home from the Rotterdam played in the casino every night.I do not smoke but found the casino to be almost smoke free.Smoking was mostly limited to one back corner.I would like to see the casino to go smoke free but it is what it is.

for those of you who have been in the casino on the Venezia has it been really smoky?I know there is a non smoking room does it stay open like the regular casino? Was the casino crowded? We like to play heads up but on the legend last cruise the tables were always full.
