We canceled around the the same and assumed that we would forfeit the deposit as we were in that penalty phase, but when the travel agent canceled for us, they were told that the deposit would be credited back in a FCC. We haven't seen anything in our account either though.

I just wanted to do a follow up on this..I submitted the cancellation request at around 7pm last night and just got the cancellation at 12:30pm today. They were very prompt so my apprehension was unwarranted.

We have done this also. There is a link right from the website so you may not need to email them first. My concern is that there is no dated confirmation on when it was sent. We have until Monday to cancel before entering a penalty phase. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I would really like something dated in hand and not hear down the road that they never got it. I will give it another day and then try to call again. Three hour wait time seems to be what I keep running into also.

Hi Luv,
We are booked on this cruise on May 16th of next year. The zodiacs and catamarans are offered at Hubbard Glacier, Tracy Arms, Inian Island, and Misty Fjords. The cost of the zodiacs are $169.95 for 1 1/2 hours. The catamarans are $209.95 except for Hubbard Glacier which is $229.95. The catamarans run for between 2 and 2 l/2 hours. I also wish I knew which ones to take as the cost really adds up, and I do not have a feel for how much we will miss by not taking them. We presently have booked the catamarans for Hubbard Glacier and Tracy Arms but I also want to do one of the zodiacs.
We are doing a six passenger whale watch out of Icy Straits with Glacier Wind Charters which gets great reviews.
It does look like a nice itinerary but I do wish that Glacier Bay was included.
Happy Planning.. -

Sandy,
I am booked at the same time, she is going to reach out to you. She said if we can all get to the excursion area early we will leave when we get there so more time on the water.
Thanks
Alan
Sounds good! We'll be all set and ready to go.

Hi Alan,
We are also on your cruise and have Glacier Winds booked for a whale watch. I also was concerned about the tender and I contacted Glacier Winds and the response I got was that "they were 99.9% sure that the Maasdam will be using a dock there and not tendering". Our tour is scheduled for 8am with Casey. I don't know if they have multiple boats or not but the one we booked, I believe, will hold six. There are four of us in our party. We had the option of booking online in full or calling them (907-978-9651) and paying a $50.00/pp deposit (which is what we did) with the balance due in March. I spoke with Teresa McConnell.
Hopefully, this is all correct.

I had contacted Dyea Dave about doing his tour also, but I was concerned about something going wrong with having to take the last ferry back to Haines so this works out better for me, but I understand where some would be upset.
We are on the May 18th, 14 day round trip Vancouver.
-
I got the change also and was very happy. We had been to Haines before and enjoyed it but really wanted to take the railroad and the bus combo with Dyea Dave and there wasn't going to be enough time if docked in Haines. Now if they would just switch out something for Glacier Bay it would be perfect!

Thanks richwmn, That's good to hear. I can't even get my PCC to respond although she was the one that initiated the whole process.

I've also been trying to transfer a reservation over since 8/12 and can't seem to get any answer. My 60 day transfer date would be up on 8/26 so I am getting a little anxious to
get an answer. I don't care which way it goes but just want it resolved before the time expires. In the future, I wouldn't bother booking with Holland at all. I just wish I could find a good travel agent.
-
I just went to transfer my booking over within the 60 day period, and my PCC sent me a message that Holland is implementing a new program called "save a sale". The PCC will try to match or equal whatever an outside agency is offering in order to retain the booking directly with Holland America Line. She said in order to make this request, she would need something in writing or quoted from the agency showing what it is they are offering you that Holland America line is not offering directly. I forwarded an online booking quote from the big box company to her but haven't heard back yet. I like working directly with Holland America but won't give up the additional obc that I get from the big box company.

Jacqui, I'm glad you arrived and I hope you have a wonderful time on this leg of the cruise. I am looking forward to seeing you in Rome! I'll be following along here until then.
Also, Thanks again for all that you have done on the roll call. It is very appreciated!

Our friends booked a snap fare with a B cabin on the Rotterdam several months ago. At that time we checked the last few years history and for their cabin category the fare had not been lower than what was being offered. We had a EE cabin and it did not pay for us to do it but they saved a few thousand dollars by booking that way. Months later while speaking with our PCC she told us that if another snap fare was offered and the price went down on our friends cabin she could readjust it. Anyways, with the promotion this past week, it did drop another $300.00/pp and they did get the price adjustment. I wasn't sure if people realized that this could be done as initially we did not.
-
We are doing the same thing in June and the Holland America transfer was $24.00/pp which I thought was pretty reasonable. For our cruise, the departure point was the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel and we need to be there by 10:30am. I don't know if this information varies between different cruises though.

We were in Rotterdam 3330 in January and there was a lot of noise coming down the stairs from the upper atrium. Would not book again.

Thanks for the response. After I posted initially, I called Holland American and they advised me to not switch either.

Sometimes those doors SLAM! closed if the wind is up or if the closers on the doors aren't working optimally. Otherwise, there is a lot of coming and going, in and out, people talking. Nevertheless, we've been second along from the doors and have heard very little except for an occasional slam.
Thank you. I think I will stay put for now. I appreciate your answer.

I would be most appreciative of any advise I could get in selecting a cabin.
I presently have cabin EE3416 on the lower promenade booked but have been watching to see what else opens up and cabin D3330, again on the lower promenade, is now available. This cabin is next to the lanai cabins and right next to the door going into the atrium area. It seems like it would be a great location with such easy access to outside but I am just concerned whether it would be very noisy. Is there anyone that could advise me about this location.
Thanks so much.

I so love and appreciate this review as I have just begun researching this cruise for either 2019 or 2020. Your pictures are just stunning and they have made me want to go all the more!

We were on the same cruise and 3 cabins down in 10618. We also went to see the America's Cup. We had a great cruise and have been on NCL a few times before.
This was the first cruise where we have experienced noise from adjoining cabins. We also heard the man with the horrific cough that was in one or two cabins between us. Also, on the other other side we had the lady that found the need to continually laugh very loudly every night when they came back to their cabin at 1:30am. What I found more odd was the we could hear the conversations of the people next to us when they were conversing in a normal voice. I hadn't experienced that on any of the 7 or 8 cruises that I have taken before. It did make me wonder if their is some issue with soundproofing in that area. I see that you had an adjoining cabin so maybe that made it all the worse for you.
Like I said, we had a great cruise but the noise did surprise me a bit.

What did you bid?
I think it was in the low/fair range (if that is even the category). Initially we paid $909.00 and my bid was an additional $205.00/pp. We were in an inside on deck 12 which I thought would be a great area for an inside. I may have bid too much but it should still be cheaper than if I booked the balcony initially.
-
This whole new process of bidding is very frustrating. I bid minimal on an upgrade from inside to balcony for cruise two weeks from today. Not knowing until 2 days before is really annoying. This is our first inside cabin. We have always done balconies or above except last cruise was an ocean view which we hated due to the location of these cabins. We did not really miss the balcony though. So we decided to try the inside this trip. If we don't get the balcony I am fine with it. Hoping we will be happy with the inside and save money on future ncl cruises. This new system of not knowing until 2 days before your cruise stinks. Won't bid again. Rather just stay in the cabin we pick next time. Also not being able to know what cabin you will get if you do win the bid is also scary.
Hi hladygirl.. I think we are on the same cruise, Boston to Bermuda?? If so, we bid on a balcony from an inside IC and received our upgrade to a BA on May 5th. I'm not sure what that means...probably that we overbid. I feel your frustration. I was very surprised that we got notified that early. I hope you have success.

I love following your review Judith. Great pictures, so much better than ours!

We just did this tour and we really enjoyed it. We really felt that it wasn't going to be very good but it actually turned out to be one of favorite tours. We went with NCL and the tour guide was very good. We went to an elementary school, met the kids, passed out candy and school supplies. The kids performed several charming dances at the school. From there we went to the banana processing plant which was very interesting. Lastly, we were welcomed at the church and given a meal of tamales made by the women in the community. The write- up from NCL didn't include this part in the tour description. We really felt that we saw how the people lived and the community was very welcoming.

I haven’t been able to see cabins for at least a month. It is so frustrating. I’ve given up and now go to big box store to see what is available.
