I had read that they were going to stop in San Antonio for fuel before moving on.  They were very late getting in to Valparaiso yesterday due to ocean swells and when they finally did dock disembarkation was very tricky as the ramps were moving quite a bit.  They were boarding folks well into the night (and possibly early morning hours too).  It seems that they will be skipping Punta Arenas too.

Not sure if there are weather problems off the coast of Chile that will be delaying them further.  Three years ago on the Coral Princess we were delayed leaving San Antonio by a full day in an attempt to miss the worst of a storm in our path.  It was still pretty miserable going for a couple of days.  We also skipped Punta Arenas but picked up Puerto Montt which would have been a better port had it not rained hard all day.

Sometimes you can't avoid the wrath of Mother Nature.  As of now it sounds like they will still have the full Antarctica experience which is the most important part of the whole trip.

Unlike us. I was also on that trip.

  2. I even called Princess to check the price and she also had that same message.  For me, it seems to impact full suite pricing more than others.   The Princess representative was suprised that she also could not view full suite prices and said that if I really wanted her to give me the price, she would have to take my details and create a booking.

  3. Hi! We are taking the South American cruise on Princess in december, and were wondering about the cancelation policy on the Antarctica excursion. The way we read it, if the excursion is canceled, they force you to go on the Paine National Park excursion for $1000 per person. Is that really the way it works? Because we do not want to do Paine. We would sign up for Antarctica today, but we don't want to loose 2 grand if the Antarctica excursion is canceled. Anybody know about this?

And while I'm at it, Does anybody have thoughts on Paine and why it is worth $1000 / person? It sounds like you sit on a bus for 3.5 hours, in order to sit on a bus while driving through the park for 3 hours, followed by sitting on a bus for 3.5 hours to get back to the ship. Am I missing something here? Is paine really worth $1000/person, and if so, how so?

We did the Antarctica excursion last February. Had a fantastic time. Well worth every penny. I was also concerned that the excursion would not happen. We actually had 2 more sign up than the stated number on the website. And a waitlist. Fantastic weather, cloudy, 25-30o with light winds. Also, if this excursion did not happen,

My family practice doctor spent 4 days in Paine and told me it was the 1 park everyone should visit.

I have been on the Port of Galveston website to book the valet parking for an upcoming 7-day Royal Caribbean cruise. When I click on the link PRE-PAY VALET PARKING it takes me to the screen requesting ship and date information. However, the options that then appear are regular or oversized vehicle, regular for $70 and oversized for $140. I have not yet taken the step to fill in the credit card information. I was expecting the cost to be $20/day or $140 for the week (not $70) for a regular sized vehicle. Have I somehow missed a step? For me, user error is quite possible. Thanks. Lynne
