  1. Have to agree on Money Bar.  18 bucks round trip (well it was, its been a year or so), always feel safe (once you get out of taxi lol).  Current can be much if you are not catching it right- if you are against it, just go either further out or in- to catch the current- there is a map that shows that current on the wall by the rental area.  Mostly artificial reefs set about on the sea floor, worth it though.  My wife and I have seen Eel, Octopus- you have to be watching close for them, all kinds of drums and usuals.  Food at Money Bar is good- Guac is excellent.  Small area for laying out, and servers will take care of you.  Watch your conversions- I've had an older gent try to get us on the price once.  Otherwise great.  I'm also looking at Costa Maya snorkeling- haven't had much luck finding definitive answers.  Good Luck and have Fun.

  2. My own personal experience, every time I go to Coz, we take a taxi, my wife and I, or 4 people in a taxi, for $9 one way from port(the port . Go to Money Bar, we take our own snorkel gear, however, they do rent it there along with lockers and an outdoor shower (not the best but whatever), clean bathrooms, good beers and drinks, good food.

You can walk in from shore, although it is rocky at parts, but they do have steps into the water, but can be slippery. There is artificial and and natural reef there. We have seen a vast array of fish, an eel, color changing squid(you have to be looking), and a bunch of cruise passengers paying 45-65 dollars a pop to do the same thing we are doing. I believe upon request or with a little package rental you get a guided tour of the reef. Depending on your experience, you may or may not need it.

Don't buy the snorkel and food package at the bar, not worth it, as it limits choices of food and in the end cost more. Taxis are a plenty, but they will call you one if you don't see the guys or taxi out front. Also they have beach chairs(not a great beach though) for free if you are getting beers or food etc. They don't charge you. Also massages are available onsite. Good Luck in your search.

  3. Stopped here coming back from Tiki Bikini Hut(buzz was wearing off), they had a Porter that my wife loved, and I had the IPA, along with some kind of Ale. All very good. The younger gent behind the bar is several generations Bahamaian, which suprised us. Cool place if you need to get your buzz or beer on before heading back aboard. Steep prices, but hey its original and its the island Free Wifi. Cheers.

  4. I was at the TIKI BIKINI HUT a few months ago. I loved it personally. Short walk from the pier. I just sat at the bar with my wife and enjoyed the carribean sea, and wonderful company(my wife of course). Bartenders were friendly but busy. You can rent chairs there as well. They have all kinds of drink specials, and chair specials. Make sure you make it up to the bar to rent your chair. I had the special- 4 beers(local Sands Beer) and 4 shots for 9.99. View was perfect, life was good. :)
