  1. I've begun looking for a rental car for our day in Cape Canaveral - a stop on our December cruise from Baltimore to the Bahamas. I'm seeing some very cheap prices, but am not certain the rental agency is the one the port shuttles will take us to.

Can someone tell me which car rental addresses are the ones close to the port? Aren't they all pretty much near each other? I don't want to reserve a car at a site that will cost me taxi money to get to. :o

    Thanks for all your help!

  2. On several cruises, my friends and I found we really liked a side dish that came with someone's entree, so we asked the waiter for another serving of that side. Most times he brought the entire plate even though we didn't want another serving of the meat, but he always said not to worry and to eat only the part we wanted.

So, I say, just ask for what you want. Go ahead and ask for one of each of the veggie sides on the menu for that night. They really do want to please their guests, and they never seem bothered by such requests.

  3. I did the Discover Scuba with Eagle Ray Divers many years ago. It was one of the best experiences I'd ever had, and that day led to my eventually getting certified. They are wonderful. Don't hesitate to experience scuba diving with them.:D

  4. Cozumel Island has a very nice State/Federal Park called San Gervasio. It's in the center of the island and contains quite a few ruins. They aren't the huge pyramids you'll find at Tulum or Chichen Itza, but we really enjoyed our visit there. The site was a religious site for the Mayans and there are placards (in both English and Spanish) at each building explaining what it was used for. The park is also beautiful in and of itself. We spent as much time looking at the flora and fauna as at the ruins.

You can hire a taxi out there and back. If you can find a driver who speaks English well enough, he can be a wonderful source of information and a good way to get to know the locals.

If you just want to go downtown, but want to see more than the tourist area, just turn up a side street and walk back away from the ocean. The further back you go, the further away from the tourist shops.
