  1. We sailed away from Catalina one afternoon on the Ruby sitting on our aft-cabin balcony, due east, and watched the sun setting behind us and the island, and dolphins playing in the wake. It was awesome. We did have a "beam" on one side of the balcony, that we were warned about in the booking. When we got there, our reaction was, "so what?" It was seriously not any sort of issue. We also liked that sparse foot traffic anywhere near the door. Nobody comes down there except adjacent cabin occupants and cabin crew.

  2. D726 per the Today Show

    Just read the FBI report.

Cabin D726 and D728 are adjoining.

Their children were traveling with them.

Jurisdiction is U.S. per 7-mile distance from Alaska (within 12 miles of US coast).

Husband attempted to throw her body overboard, in front of their friends. Friend(s) stopped him from doing that.

After reading about husband's actions following the fight, and him saying ironically "MY life is over", I feel very sad for her and her children (who were on board). What a complete tragedy.

  3. While we really love both Emerald & Ruby, Coral would be our choice for Alaska. The lay out for viewing on Coral is great for Alaska! :)

Been on Ruby and Coral. Both are beautiful ships. Lived on Coral for two weeks through the Canal, and it was a great ship and crew.
