  1. My first cruise was with Celebrity Cruises ship Constellation to Caribean for about 12 days or so. Start and end in Fort Lauderdale This was 2008.. Just loved it. So after that I went back in year 2009 to other countries in Carrebean with the same ship . In 2010 a cruise with Constellation again from Amsterdam to Barcelona. 2011 and 2014 with Celebrity Century to southern Alaska fro Vancouver. And now in august/septeber with Summit up New England and Nova Scotia.  I just like Celebrity so much so I do not want to change. Oh, I forgot twice I have been on a Hurtigrutenship from Bergen to Kirkenes. (One way each time)

  2. Hello, I will travel on Summit later this sumer/fall and it was long time ago I  went on a cruise with Celebrity.  I am from Scandinavia  and I know that different part of the world have different "plug-inns". Do I need to bring an electrical adapter with me or are there different plug-inn in the cabins? Thank you for respond./Ida

  3. Hello everyone! I do not understand... Why I have to justify and defend why I cruise solo? Am I considred as a loser? Am I considered a second class person? Or do you married people consider me as a dangeresly person -maybe I will steal your dear wife or husband? Just because that I am confident enought to do things by my own? It does not mean that (because you envy me that I do travel alone) have to be mean to me. You have no idea why I or nwhy I prefer to travel solo./Chris 58

  4. Hello! Why not just take the bus to Waxholm from Stockholm and walk around there for a few hours. And to Norrtalje?! Good (and they go very often) regular bus-service from Stockholm city. And it doesn`t cost extra money. (Within the SL-services.) Check out prices and timetables at http://www.sl.se. you can choose info in english.

Or go to the old town of Sigtuna for the day. Also within the regular SL-service. /Chris58

  5. Can someone clarify for me on the SL Travel Card for 1 Day:

They say that it is transferable and can be used for multiple travelers but not at the same time. What does that mean exactly? If we had one card between my husband and myself could I go through a turnstile and then hand the card to my husband to use?

We're taking a taxi from the airport to our hotel in the afternoon. I figure we will walk to the Gamla Stan and back that night. The next day I am thinking of purchasing the 1 day Stockholm Card and see all the museums and use the transport on it. The following day around noon we will be taking a taxi to the port, but will probably get back off the ship and tour a bit more before we leave that evening. I am thinking of buying the 1 day SL Transport Card for that day.

Does this make sense or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Hello! If you take a taxi be sure to check the price in advance. Guess around 4-600sek for a car. It is a mess and they really "rob" foreign visitors with the price. Ask in the tourist info at the airport and also ask for what taxicompany to take. (Some are better than others.) And it doesn`t goes faster with the taxi than the buses to downtown center of Stockholm and that is only around 100 sek .

Have a good stay and usually it is lovely weather in early september./chris58

  6. Getting to the bus is very easy.

Here are 2 great maps to help orient you:

The first link shows the bus 76 route in relation to Frihamen port (and other areas of interest):

This link shows the street view ala Google street view. You can see the bus stop in the photo:

Hello! I live in Stockholm and this website may help you a little. http://www.sl.se

It is the transport website for buses, underground etc. They have an english version. I do not think it is far to walk from the ship to the bus stop. But check out anyway. Hope you will have a nice stay. /chris58

  7. Hi

Many thanks for a great thread, I've enjoyed reading through it and getting lots of info, but not quite what I'm looking for.

We're doing a B2B on Vision of the Seas from Stockholm in a couple of weeks and would like to visit the Hard Rock Cafe. The ship will dock at Frihammen but I'm not sure of the best way to get to the HRC, its located at Sveavagen 75 (sorry if its spelled wrong). Could you recommend the easiest way to get there and back, with approximate costs if possible.

Thanks for any info you can provide

    Pam

Hi! Check out the webside http://www.sl.se (Buses, underground in Stockholm.) They have an english version. You will go from Frihamnen and the closest station to HRC is Underground Radmansgatan (exit library ). There you will also get info about the cost. Closest Underground to Frihamnen is Gardet. Approx 20min fast walk from the ship. Awfully expensive to buy tickets cash. But in most tiny small stores close to lots of stations PRESSBYRÅN you can prebuy tickets. Hope I could help you a little. Have a good trip. /Chris58

  8. We were disappointed to learn that Kungsträdgården metro station will be closed for repairs during our visit as we had planned to view the art there.

Can anyone offer information on Rådhuset and T-Centralen stations? We have seen photos of the art there and would very much like to see them.

However are they easily accessible? Will we need to buy metro tickets to see the art?

Thank you for all of your help!

Hi, Yes, you need tickets for seeing the art. T-centralen is the big centralstation. Station Rådhuset is closed for the moment just as Kungsträdgården. Ask about the art in almost all travelcentras for the metro. I like Stadion and University stations a lot. (12 min from the T-centralen.) check out the website http://www.sl.se /chris58

  9. We would very much like to walk from Stadsgarden to Ganlan Stan via the scenic route that was mentioned in this forum - Stadsgardsledin to Folkungatan to Erstagatan to Fjällgatan. Could you please provide help on how best to proceed from Fjällgatan to Ganlan Stan? Looking at google maps, we see very intimidating and confusing roundabouts!

Could you also provide a slightly different interesting return route from Ganlan Stan back to the ship? What would you estimate the total walking distance to be? We enjoy walking but probably don't want to walk more than 4 miles!

    Thank you!

Hello! Once you are at Stadsgarden you will see how to walk to/from Gamla Stan. Straight ahead. And also from Ersta/Fjällgatan to Gamla Stan. End of Fjällgatan is Katarina Bangata and then you will see how to walk. Just follow the street. Beautiful views from there. Have a nice stay. /chris58

  10. Thank you SO very much for your fast response!

Dearest all of you who get difficulties because someone in your group is

    disabled of any kind!

I got so sad reading your notes. I thought in my naive mind that you would get more help and understanding from cruiselines and passengers. I promise that if we were on the same cruise I would do everything I absolutely could to help you out. Love and big warm hugs to you all. /chris 58.
