We used the Ramses Tours on our Jan 9&10, 2011 trip to Cairo from the NCL Jade.
I booked a tour for a total of 22 people. We had a large bus with lots of extra room. We even had a toilet on the bus so we did not have to stop on the way to Cairo.
They provided chilled bottle water for all of us which was nice.
Our guide , Islam, was a treasure. Very intelligent, funny, and really took care of us.
He was so proud of his country and the history of it. For two days he told us about each place we visited - Memphis, the Pyramids, the museum, the Muhammed Ali mosque, etc.
He also had a great sense of humor which made it even more fun.
Our group was from all over the world.
We saved over $250 from what the cruise ship wanted and we got everything and more from Ramses tours.
We had two couples that griped about everything - too many people on the tour, the hotels (they were 5 star hotels). They made it quite uncomfortable for some of the others but I just ignored them. Maybe next time they should just take a private tour and pay that $500 a day price.
The rest of us became fast friends and still communicate via email.
Anyway, Ramses is a great company. If you have any particular things you need for the tour, they respond very fast to your comments.
Also you don't pay til the end of the tour so you can see if you get what you expected. We all paid the fee plus a large tip. It was well worth it.
