  1. We are doing same types to trips and your tips sound reasonable. However, the Helicopter drops you off for dog sledding and different pilot will pick you. Not sure if they pool tips.

  2. My Alaska trip is coming on fast. I have been practicing with my A6000 with the two kit lens I am getting beter every day as I go out and just keep shooting. My question are there any suggestions on which lens 18 - 50 or 55 - 210 I should start out with. I think it will be hard to switch lenses back and forth on plane or helicopter. You can not take a camera bag on them so have to keep lens in you pocket.

Also any suggestions on setting whicl on glacier. We are going to go dog sledding and this is the one moment I want good photos.

  3. Thanks Dave. Your atricles nd advice are great. May I ask for any more advice you have on photos taken from the float planes and helicopters. I am doing three ans sure want some good pics with all the money I am spending. I have ordered to Sony 18 - 105.

  4. I am learning my new A6000. Taking many photos at all different settings. As a total beginner, I am amazed at the photos I have taken. My primary goal is to get ready for my two weeks in Alaska this June. I have a question about the next lens I buy. I am thinking of either a 50 mm prime or the 18 - 105 . I do not have the 55 - 210 but have the use of one for my trip. Suggestion for the right lens for the trip. I will be taking a total of three float plane and helicopter trips so also thinking I need a polarizing filter.

  5. In my trip to Alaska next year, I am taking 2 float plane trips and one helicopter with a dog sledding option. It very critical that I can take good pictures and videos.

    I think I am buying a Canon P & S camera.

My question is technique on pictures and video shot through the windows. I get get a filter adapter for camera. Any suggestion on filters. My thought has been a polarizing filter

  6. You might think me crazy but we are spending $2200 of two flights and dog sledding. We decided 5 tears ago we wanted to do Alaska and see the many sights by air. Well all change and every $5.00 bill we got over the years has given us the money to go next year in June, all paid for and its not like taking saving as we just saved as I said above. By the way, we are both in our mid seventies and everyone tells us we are crazy.

  7. My wife and I are going to Alaska (55 Anniversary- so we are old folks). We are taking a few helicopter tours to glaciers and doing a dog sledding. Want a

camera in $500.00 range. What I worry about is the temperature on glaciers and dog sledding and rain. It seems like most cameras that I look at are 32 to 104. We are going 1st week in June. In my younger years, I used Minolta cameras and multi lens but never in cold weather. Now I what a much simpler camera and a good availability of use instructions. Any help in selection would be greatly appreciated.
