I’m very aware of how life works. As long as NCL is aware there are other cruise lines 😉 !

Just got off the rock boat. Which is used to be a Sister Hazel production simply renting an NCL vessel. Well NCL bought them and what a mess. SH used to care about their customers pre-buyout. Now they do the minimum to get by and the staff was angry or apathetic most of the time. I was looking forward to a genuine cruise to Bermuda but I canceled it. NCL was my go to but I’m going to try Royal.

Wow! I am an adult going with my adult daughter, so should I demand that the club you dump your kid in so you don't have to deal with them is shut down too? Or perhaps since I can't drink I should demand that all bars are shut down to the alcoholic crowd? Of course there is also the unaccompanied teenagers running around acting up with no parental supervision, so should I request a ban on all teenagers? It's not complifrickencated! If you don't like the acts, don't reserve them! But saying they are stupid, and suggesting to get rid of something because "It doesn't suit you" is why this country is so screwed up! All the selfishness on this board is astonishing! FYI I am booking a cruise just for an act, and this performer has several current hit albums and has been a very big deal as of late. He drew in 22,000 fans at the Boston Hatch-shell recently alone! The concourse was full, and people were standing around the place just to get a glimpse! County fairs my foot! Perhaps some people need to stop living in 1964!;)

So sorry to hear about your wife's loss! I can't imagine how that must hurt. My husband is my life too.

I make no excuses for the people who were so cruel to you and your wife, however, I do think you should have a more positive look on the situation. I am assuming your brought your wife to have her the time of her life correct? And from what you wrote she did. So her last memories were of the wonderful time she had with you, and how special you made her feel. That should mean more to you than any ignorant thing some jerk off stranger may have said or done. She certainly didn't let it get to her!

She viewed this cruise as the best time of her life, and while you apparently noticed things she did not, you should be proud of yourself for full filling her dream. It sounds to me like you loved each other very much, and i'm sure you made her feel loved and spoiled, and made the world of difference among the ship of fools.

Your wife was a lucky woman, and I am sure you made her feel that way during that trip. As she was obviously the main focal point, it was a job well done from her perspective. She wouldn't want you focusing on the negative, and would want you to remember how happy you made her.

In reference to your fishing Sir. If you were my husband, I would tell you to stop mopeing and get back out there! She would not want you to waste your life sitting in a house watching ships pass, she would tell you to live it to the fullest. Especially if that is your one true passion other than she.

Your story is heartbreaking and I can completely understand feeling angry at those passengers who were jerks, and the line for not being a little more understanding. However, I can almost guarantee your wife would tell you to get your butt back out to sea. Not on a cruise necessarily, but at least on your own ship. As you learned through her sir, life is to short, and maybe out there if you come in contact with an ahole like one of them again, you can set them straight about their stupidity. Perhaps saving just one future person from their wrath.

Some of the folks here, for sure, post irrelevant, ignorant stuff. Most people are just inquiring about things, like you.

 

Discussion boards as a whole seem to generate nastiness in some people and there is a lot of that in this thread, most of it from and directed to the same individual. I suggest you ignore that as there is some good information in this thread, including comments from several survivors of the wreck.

 

There are also a lot of posts from people who actually are knowledgeable regarding this incident and marine salvage in general, so that is valuable.

 

On a positive note, I saw a lot of work being done on the hulk today. It is all still preparatory work, but there is definitely progress being made.

Thank you Doc for that info. I have been reading articles, but that is what I came here for more information. I have read some of the posts and they are facinating. I am glad to see there are people whom can have a reasonable discussions such as yourself. I simply meant that trying to get through the bickering for a newbie, so as to find the information is quite the magnificent feat!

Excellent about the ships progress. I am so saddened by the loss of those poor people. Thanks for the info!:D

By your own admission you know nothing. Don't transfer to others, your inability to research the learnable facts and apply reason and logic to ascertain who was at fault and who should be punished.

 

You accuse others of taking this tragedy way to seriously. I believe we have a duty to society to take it seriously in order to demand justice for the lives lost and regulations to prevent a recurrence. You on the other hand recommend "get a life" (self absorbed, no doubt) rather than shouldering the duties of a citizen. If it hadn't been for the public outcry after the Titanic, the changes in maritime law and regulations would have been a lot less.

 

One of the things I've learned from this tragedy is in case of an emergency, I will go to my muster station prepared to claw and fight my way to safety and God help anyone who tries to stop me.

Who gives a rat's behind if the electric went out first? Who care's if the Captain was a dirt bag? Let the courts decide! With a few exceptions, none of this affected any of you, and I dare say you people are taking this way to seriously!

My daughter and I were just on the Dawn last June, and we both brought cases of our fave and just taped it up with our rm number on it. No prob getting it on and saved sixty bucks!

Please accept my heart felt condolences on the passing of your Dad. I can't imagine being in your shoes, but I can only hope I have half the grace and courage you did if I do! May he rest in peace, and thank you for sharing.

Only three? My server last year told me there was five to a room on the Dawn. U wondered how that would work. It's not our rooms by any means, but unless one snores like the dickens it doesn't look bad.

Lol I have been giddy since the minute I booked lol. I have spent more time looking at the Dawn's webcam and checking these boards than I care to admit. Heck some might say I am obsessed lol. Just like the last time I sailed a few months ago!
