  1. Has anyone every done the transpacific from Sydney to Australia? I just booked it on Carnival.au, but I cannot find out if we need a visa or not as Americans. We don't need them to cruise Europe anymore, but no one seems to know about Sydney.

I arrive on Friday and the ship leaves Monday for Hawaii. I asked on the roll call and Carnival Australia boards, but there are no Americans on the cruise roll calls, so no one knows.

    Anyone?

  2. I am cruising with my son and daughter, and they are on a roll call where this has been going on. Maybe they are giving it because it is a repo cruise on the Dream

My nephew and his wife are the then cruise too, and I was told they couldn't buy FFTF because it was sold up. Maybe they should offer more, if they weren't;t giving free upgrades. My nephew said the man who posted it cancelled FTTF because he got this free status upgrade.

I don't know how that is cost effective.

  3. So this is legit than. While I get the idea of showing someone Platinum, it is not the best way to do it. Most people see platinum benefits all this time, as others on the ship are platinum.

I think this is really a slap in the face for everyone. At least FTTF was an upsell, and people paid for the benefits. there are way too many golds and red not getting this.

Do they do the one time upgrade to diamond status too for some people?

  4. A man on our roll call has claimed that for his cruise coming up, he has be granted a status upgrade to platinum for this cruise only???

Has anyone heard of this? I certainly would not be happy if I was a cruiser with 45 days at sea trying to get days in to make platinum and then have someone granted it on the ship for one cruise only as a favor? Is he lying or has anyone ever heard about this?

Here are the posts, I can't make sense of them

    >>>Not exactly sure how I received it. Got an email last week saying they were going to upgrade me to Platinum status for this cruise! One of those things where I don't ask questions, I just smile, say thank you and move on. No, not turning platinum during the cruise. I've taken multiple cruises with Carnival and while not Platinum status yet, I think this is just a nice thing Carnival is doing to reward loyalty. I work in the hotel industry and I will do the same thing for my loyal clients.

  5. This is bad on the Victory right now - so much so that one person cut in line and then the rest of the family joined them. They almost had a double line - another trick is to cut in line and then hand things over the heads of the people in line to waiting hands, or send a small child in, back and forth to get items. It was the Destiny a few years ago when she did the same itinerary.
