  1. I seems that there is only one laundry room, on deck 7. Is that the case, for the whole ship? They say we get 3 laundry bags, of 20 items, during the cruise. I was hoping to be able to at least do workout gear and underwear in the laundry room. It might get crowded.

  2. I'm glad to see that there is a steam room. We will have 10 days at sea, which will undoubtedly include the gym, the spa deck, the steam room, afternoon tea and cocktail hour. I am hopeful that we will have time to schedule a few massages.

  3. Stan & Jim,

Thanks for the reply and the images. Can I make the request for the standard height table upon embarkation, or does it have to be done prior? Also, I used to like the sauna and steam on the Riviera, do they have any on the Sirena.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim & Nan

  4. Does anyone have any photos of the Sirena Penthouse Suite? We have been on the Riviera three times and love the suite. Wanted to see the difference between the two ships. We are booked on the Sirena for the Nov 5 Amazon cruise. Thank you

  5. When I lived in NY, I refused to go to a restaurant that had more than one restaurant. There were so many great restaurants, why would I want to go to a chain. Pizza in NY is almost a religious experience. Everyone has a favorite pizza parlor. Everyone has a favorite steak place and a favorite Italian restaurant.

When on a cruise ship, expectations have to be adjusted. You cannot expect to experience NY pizza, Memphis ribs, New England lobster or Maryland crab cakes. You are on a cruise, get over it. If you really want all of the above, stay home and enjoy. I think, when on a cruise, accept. In my experience, there are standouts that need mentioning.

The best pizza I ever had on a cruise was on the Princess Sapphire. The rest of the food sucked. However, the newly installed pizza restaurant was a homer. It was adjacent to a wine "flights" area and it was fabulous.

On Oceania, there was the pool-side Sliced Tenderloin Sandwich, served with Truffle Oiled fries with shaved Parmesan. Wow!

On Carnival (yes I said Carnival) they had a Oriental service bar at a pool-side walk-up. You could order a Bouillabaisse. They would, upon order, toss several seafood items into a wok and heat till they reached temperature. Then they would add broth and some noodles. It was un-traditioinal and great!

Another great is the Oceania open seating at the fantail. There, you can order a lobster tail and a beef filet and dine al-fresco. What could be better.

Concluding, there are good and bad cruise food experiences. I tend to try to enjoy what I can and avoid what I have learned from.

  6. Just returned from Riviera yesterday, Miami to Miami 2/13 to 2/23, PH 3. While on-board, we reserved suite 7030, on the Riviera for 4/11/16 through 4/25/16. It is a re-positioning cruise. Has anyone been in either of these (2) unique cabins on a trans- Atlantic cruise? We did a shore excursion-laden cruise in the Med, last year. Having a large deck would have been a waste, as we were on an excursion daily. I chose this cabin because we will have 9 days at sea. My concern is it's usage crossing the Atlantic. Will it be usable in April? Do cruise ships take a Northern route, as do airlines, when crossing the Atlantic?

I'm probably going to stay with my selection of cabins, as I like my room. Just looking for others' views. (StanandJim & LHT28, feel free to opine)

  7. We are on the Riveria leaving 2/13 from Miami. One of the ports is Cayo Levantado. We have not been there on prior cruises. Goggle searches have resulted in it being described as an island and as being a part of the mainland of the DR. We are not looking for a sight-seeing tour. We just want to arrive and experience the local food & people. If anyone has a clarification regarding this location, it would be appreciated.

  8. Receiving several offers from Oceania. First we were offered to extend our 2/13 Riviera to a 20 day cruise. Then they asked if we would change to a date in March, for a discount. The latest was to downgrade from a Penthouse Suite to a Concierge balcony, for $2000.00 reduction.

I checked the availability and noted that the suites are wait listed. The Verandahs are not. I have only done Penthouse Suites on Oceania. I have seen Verandah and Concierge cabins and would not do that.

    Business must be good.

  9. We have been on the Eurodam and The Nordam, first time on Zuiderdam. Some questions.

Do they have laundry rooms, where passengers can wash or touch-up an item with an iron?

Has anyone had experience with the drink package/

We will be going in and out of the Panama canal. Has anyone been on the shore excursion that HAL offers there? What do they do? Heard Princess offers a train ride to Colon.

    Thanks, in advance.

  10. Booked for the New Years Eve cruise, out of Tampa. I have some general questions regarding the ship, as we haven't been on this ship before.

    1. Do they have laundry rooms with irons on-board.

    2. Does the Spa have a sauna or steam room, if so are they coed or separate.

    3. We are not smokers, are there separate areas for smokers (casino, pool)

    4. Are there any recommendations regarding specialty restaurants.

    5. We have adjoining cabins on Deck 8. Can we fold back the balcony partitions, so as to share our two balconies?
