  1. Heading to Falmouth in April on a cruise. Looking to take a group of adults & teens to Margaritaville. We know there is a pool although rather small but, is there a beach also? And, are there water slides there or other activities for the kids to have fun? Any other port recommendations are welcomed too!

  2. I would like to print these out. However, I cannot figure it out how to do it through google drive. Send it to OneNote & still cannot figure out how to print them so I can read them. Is there anyway you can email them to me? Thanks so much! StorkRN@comcast.net

I was begging for these before my cruise and someone was nice enough to post them so I will pay it forward. Here are the Cruise Compasses for the current Oasis western route.

I have also included the letter listing the Diamond level savings that are automatically loaded on your Seapass card and the welcome letter from the Diamond Concierge.

  3. Love your spreadsheet idea! Would you be willing to email it to me? Then I can fill in my own events! StorkRN@comcast.net

We sail in April! A BIG group of 55 cabins! Family, friends, friends of friends, etc. It's gonna be fun!!!

Planning for Oasis is not like other ships. I had previously sailed the Allure, so I knew to book all of our shows in advance. As a detail planner, I scoured Cruise Critic for previous Cruise Compass copies of the western itinerary. Studying these, I set up a preliminary schedule in a spreadsheet.

I do not rigidly adhere to a schedule, but setting up one gives me an idea of when I want to book shows when they are available for booking, plus other events I want to attend. If you like to plan things out, just be prepared to change. More on this later.

  4. Hello, we are sailing on Freedom in April. There are 15 of us cruising together. We have the 8pm seating in the MDR. Does anyone know how I can contact them before we board to see about getting one large table? We really don't want to be split up into 2 or 3 tables. Thanks!

  5. My son is interested in the Flowrider and taking lessons on our cruise in April on the Freedom of the Seas. Can anyone tell me when lessons are usually held and how do I go about signing him up? Is there a charge? Also, I read somewhere that you could have a private session. Again, how much and where do you sign up.
Also, what about events onboard such as wine tasting, pasta making, cup cake decorating....do you sign up for most of these once you board or beforehand?
We sail in April and I know that the week before spring break is bound to be busy so I want to get as much as I can pre booked and have my plan on what to go book as soon as I get onboard! Thanks in advance~!
  6. We are traveling with a group of 15 across 6 cabins celebrating my niece's 16th birthday. The way I read it, we would need to get a different package for each family (4). Is this correct? If not, it would be an awesome deal. But, otherwise it would be approx $800 for all of us....not a good deal to me....someone please advise if I don't understand this correctly!

  7. A couple more Falmouth Shots:

Now about the two young ladies I mentioned from The Crypt. These young ladies were seen for a great part of the day at a little outdoor bar in port drinking and drinking and really during their dances as in the Crypt, on top of the bar and everything. The Jamaican men were really liking this and more than glad to dance with them. As I was standing out on the balcony enjoying the scenery and having a beer I look down and see a security person escorting in arm them back to the ship and handed them over to the ship’s security. They look like from my vantage point on the 9th deck that they were talking a lot of trash to security and of course drunk as usual. Well I had seen them many of times around the ship, but after this day we never saw them again the rest of the cruise, so we wondered if they were confined or thrown off the ship. We never knew. As I sat out on the balcony, I fell off to sleep and the next thing I knew the ship had pulled away from the pier and we were underway and it was then getting close to dinner time. This was the day we ate at Chops. We had a 7:00 reservation and once again Chops was delicious. After we finished a litlle after 8:00, I took our deserts back to the cabin and the wife went to the Promenade to wait in line for the BIG Michael Kors store sale! When I came back down, I saw that she was lucky enough to have secured a spot about 5th in the line and there was a long line. When they opened the doors, the big rush in was on! They were just grabbing purses that they had scoped out earlier that they knew they wanted and some just held on to one or two until they decided which one they wanted........ "It's A Madhouse........A Madhouuusse" OK now.....What Movie?????? Don't know???? The Original Planet Of the Apes! LOL!

So are the "big sale" prices really that good? To me a "big sale" is at least 70% off a $300 purse. What kind of prices are you looking at? I need to know in order to put a little aside in a private stash as we sale on Freedom in April! Shhhh...don't tell my husband! ;)

  8. This is a little off topic of the Norovirus... When we were on our last cruise another cruiser suffered a heart attack on board the ship and needed medical attention. We were on an older ship that did not have a helipad. Obviously, his condition wasn't that dire or they would have called the Coast Guard to transport him off the ship. But, it was dire enough that we were diverted and skipped our last port in order to get him to a port in the Bahamas that could care for him. What was our compensation for missing a port of call for something that was not "our fault"....nothing! And, you know....I'm okay with that. I just hope the other passenger received the care he needed and was okay. I figure it's kind of like going to the beach for a week of vacation and it rains the whole time...or going to Disney and a hurricane hits... Just be thankful that you arrived there safely and that you make it home safely... Yes, it stinks that your vacation was ruined by all those passengers who "decided" to get sick... think about them.... I'm sure it wasn't very relaxing and enjoyable for them. As for reimbursement from RCCL, I think what they offered is fair. In all reality they don't have to give anyone anything... I think people need to step back and quit trying to get everything for nothing. I know I'm probably going to get bashed for sharing my opinion. So, go ahead...I'm ready!

  9. I believe if you go to the Cruise Desk on the day you board they can use the OBC to pay the tips. But, the OBC is assigned to the stateroom, maybe this is why they are having trouble dividing it??? If you don't get an answer you like, understand, or want to hear call back. You will most likely speak with someone else on the phone and maybe they can clarify for you. This is something I have learned after many years of dealing with RCL operators...some are awesome....some are horrible!

  10. Great review. We were on EOS in April 2013. Some of the things you said were exactly the same. Our dining room service was terrible on the first night. My husband was actually told "no" when he asked for something specific. This NEVER happens on a cruise! But, as the week went on the MDR service was better. Our main waiter was not great. But, the assistant was phenomenal! I think his name was Ardin. He was always quick with a joke or to show us a magic trick after dinner. Loved him! In Boleros, we had Erdie who was from Turkey. He was very good also. Made quick friends with him. Our favorite bar person by far was Jefferson. He always had drinks waiting for us wherever we were. Loved him too! I will say, compared to the other ships we have been on, the service on this was just not as good as the others. That being said, I would greatly encourage you to go on another RCL ship and see if it is better. I think one of the problems with Enchantment is they expanded the length of the ship. But, did nothing to expand the public areas, like the Windjammer. So, everywhere seemed really crowded. We sail again April of this year on the Freedom of the Sea and can't wait to see it. It's our biggest ship yet! I like the smaller ships because I think the service is more personal....they do remember your name! So, it will be interesting to see if they are up to par on a bigger ship!

  11. We are cruising the Eastern Caribbean with a stop in St.Thomas. I know there are taxi stands at majority of the ports. We are hoping to do a Paradise Point Tram Ride (i believe we can walk to this) and were talking about an Island Tour. A few years ago we were in St Thomas and did a tour on an open air bus. I believe we just walked off the ship and jumped on. Does anyone know if these open busses are still running? And, do you know the approximate cost & how long the tour is? Thanks!

  13. Going on FOS in April. Can anyone tell me if there is a charge for the kids club after 10pm? I read somewhere that they have dance parties for the older kids (ours are 13 years old). But, it listed a charge of $7 per hour per child from 10pm until 2 am. Is this correct? Or, is that a baby sitting fee for the younger kids? Please help clarify this for me!

  14. We are cruising in April on Freedom. There are 15 of us traveling. We are going to Florida a day early. Can anyone give us suggestions for the name of a hotel near the Port Canaveral Cruise Port? We would like somewhere reasonably priced, but not breaking the budget. Thanks in advanced!

  15. Going on FOS on 4/6-4/13. I have a D1 balcony Connected to an inside. There are only 2 sets of cabins like this and they are both aft on deck 9. Has anyone ever stayed in these cabins on FOS & if so, what is your opinion? Because they are the very last cabins aft I know the walk is gonna probably be long... I had heard about a stairwell back there that took you up to the dining rooms, but it was crew stairs... but the guests at the back of the ship were using it. I know there is a cabin review board, but my cabin #'s are not there....so taking a chance here! Thanks!

  16. Hello, We are booked on the FOS to Eastern Carib in April 2014. We will have six kids in our group ranging from 6-16 years of age. I have a 13 year old son and 13 year old step daughter. My son is debating whether he wants to participate in the kids club. I have heard from Royal Carib operators that the club is really fun. I would like to hear from my CC friends! If you have recently sailed on Royal Carib, especially Freedom of the Seas, what kinds of activities did the kids club do for the 12-17 year old group? Also, if there are activities he or she does not want to do can they decline the club for that activity and rejoin them for other activities? Please provide any and all info you can! This is a first cruise for the kids, but Mom & Dad love cruising. So, we want them to love it so they want to go back! Thanks in advance!

  17. They are now calling for 8-10 inches in Baltimore starting today and ending tomorrow before day break. I cruised out of Baltimore (& live North of Baltimore) last April. We arrived to the ship around 10:30am. We drove right around to get our luggage tags (problem printing them at home), drop off our luggage, and got dropped off at the security entrance with very little stopping (thanks mom for driving us!). Security had a small line but we moved through quickly. Counter check in had a small line also, a little bit longer wait, but no complaints! Then they lined us up seated in chairs to wait to board the ship. Waited approx 15-20 minutes there. We were on the ship by about 12 noon. Rooms were opened by 1:00. It was awesome to get there early and I would HIGHLY advise it! People arriving after us had lines out the doors. Have an awesome cruise, you are leaving at a perfect time. We are going on the Freedom in April this year and leaving from Port Canaveral....with 12 inches of snow heading toward us our cruise can't come soon enough!
