Galveston is not consistent. Sometimes you will be there and you get the impression it is the fist day on the job for all. They do seem to have good excuses ready. I have heard the computer glitz many times but if you look many are working on their computers.

I have been on a good number of cruises, seems to me the kids behave much better than the entitled adults. you would see one child that was more active than he/she should have been and shake your head but immediately turn the corner and come across 4 or 5 entitled adults. Came close to being the last winter cruise.

Over the past months we have seen many labs that touted the accuracy of their test to never live up to them.
-
Booked a family cruise for May 21, figured that would give sufficient time for some to get their act together. Nor impressed with either the CDC or the cruise lines.
-
The main concern is how accurate is the test? Some of these rabid test are not all that accurate. In fact there was a couple being pitched for use that were only 50% accurate but due to low cost they would be of benefit. However, they would be of no
benefit for something like this. If you will look at the actual data there are problems with all of the test.

This is why corporations and government entities should do a daily backup. You tell the hacker that has locked you out where to go. Wipe your hard drives and reload.

This is a mean sneaky virus. Even if we get a vaccine that works, not everyone will be immunized. We are all different. It will make no difference "what rules" are in place, people will most likely continue to be infected unless you stay in your basement. This virus will be with us for several years. When cruising starts it will be with people that understand that there is a chance that they could contact the virus. With ships cruising at less than full capacity there will be sufficient rooms to let anyone that does come down positive to allow them to have their own room until the ship returns to port as scheduled. If you will look at actual numbers the doctors are getting better at treatment without using the expensive Rx's.

It really depends on how sensitive the test is. Will it detect someone that was infected that morning or days previous?

Ok, people describe different things as "choking" so was OP not breathing, face turning blue kind of choking or was she coughing her lungs out kind of choking? Because if she were coughing that means she was breathing and waiter wasn't supposed to do anything.
I am glad someone finally pointed this out. A lot of people think they are to run over and slap the person on the back.

When ever I use a straw, they end up in the trash can. I do not litter.

No, I do not think cruisers should quit complaining, however, the complaints should be directly with Carnival. What is odd though, since we put negatives on a questionnaire, we have not received any! We have been cruising for many years and have seen many cutbacks. During the last two there were several days where you had a much greater variety of selection for the lunch buffet then dinner in the MDR or in my opinion anyway. From what I have read on the boards over several years there will always be those that defend them to the hilt. I have always wondered if they were employees of Carnival or Travel Agents? I would have no problem with Carnival raising rates then go with further cuts.

Just off the Breeze and my impression was that not only bar staff was less but overall staff seems to be less than several years ago. Why do I
think this? I was only hit up twice to see if I wished to purchase a drink. I also noticed a large number of cruisers heading up to the bar itself to
get service.

If Carnival truly wanted to take care of the problem they could. It seems as if they have become more "conflict avoidance" as time passes. It seems as if they have gotten to where they do not wish to back up any of their rules.

The odds are you will not get a reply. I have done this several times, no reply, request is handled.

I use to drink sweet tea until moving to Texas, way too sweet to drink. May as well just get a spoon of sugar and eat it. I have had Carnival tea in the past and didn't think it was all that bad, will try on my next cruise to see if it is as bad as several try to claim. I do not remember having had to add anything to it. Doubt it though. People just get use to one thing and cannot tolerate any type of change.

If this would be your dream job, you shouldn't worry about any proficiency test. If you pay attention during class you will have no trouble. They usually only weed out those on the very bottom, if that.
-
I often wonder if the increase came about to make up for those that do remove the gratuities? To me, the lines should just put this line item in the up front cost. It should be less for those that do pay.

One cruise several years ago there were three of us buying drinks for the group, no doubt we would have hit the so called limit of 15 with ease. Most of the drinks I have had on board were not very strong, a can of beer seems to have more alcohol than the mixed drinks. Never have even come close to 15 on my own but could see where during the day it would be easy to accomplished and like I said with weak drinks not be drunk.

a bit cheeky in my opinion. (Unless someone is sick or confined)
That's what room service is all about.
However, there is nothing to stop you from doing that
Like others, see no reason for the post.

Many need to read poz222's comments. I have read about the same in the past plus that this job makes it possible for the worker to actually save sufficient funds to purchase a house "back home." To me, the initial tip is just part of the cruise cost then you add more when earned.

We have sailed on the Ecstasy several times, great ship and one of the better crews.

You should bring back what you wish, just be sure to declare it on your custom form. I have gone over a few times and like others, never had to pay any tax. I have a feeling they do not wish to slow down the line for a few dollars. The first few times figured I would get a tax bill in the mail but it never happened. If you needed the porter to handle ten cases for you, bet you would end up paying the tax.

The main problem with once a day is we like dry towels after a shower and usually will take more than one a day. Even if a person slept in late wouldn't they be staying up very late, when I mean very late, I mean after 3 or 4? and that could create the need for more than one shower. Now, if they would let us have access to the towels and ice on the same floor, once a day for room service could work for a lot.

This is an old post but the OP did slam the Magic. I was on the Magic probably three times prior to this post, felt the crew was very good as well as the food. Once in a while you did run into a crew member that did not seem to know what their job entailed but never one that was rude. I agree with other posters, in that what the OP describes does not appear to be bed bugs. I would venture to guess a possibility is an allergic reaction, I know there are some laundry detergents I must watch out for.
Carnival luggage weight
in Carnival Cruise Lines

Check the definition of "should" it is a requirement. I have had bags marked as heavy, I had not weighed them so not sure of the exact weight.
