  1. I originally signed up for the UBP promo on the Dawn. I'm not a big drinker but the ability to have a drink (for "free") when I wanted it was appealing to me. But now I'm thinking that I would likely prefer to have a frozen drink instead of a regular drink. Are frozen drinks included in the package? And are they likely to be more than the $15 limit?

I think I could live just fine for the week on iced tea and lemonade and get a drink or two if I really felt like having one - even a non alcoholic frozen drink and just pay out of pocket. Although I guess if I plan on getting a frozen drink (non-alcoholic if it's included) or 2 every day - then the UBP would still be worth it since it comes out to only $14.14/day (which is the service charge). Right??????

Or should I just switch to the signature dining instead - although between the 2 dining rooms and the buffet and the other little places to eat, there seems to no shortage of food choices!!

What would you do????? I need help making this life altering decision lol!!!

  2. I am trying to decide if the UBP is worth it for me as one of my free promos ( although I would be spending the $199 fee) I would probably have only one alcoholic drink per day (the drink of the day) but would easily have one or two non alcoholic frozen drinks per day. Plus soda with every meal and maybe one or two between meals . Can anyone tell me approximately how much a soda is and how much a non alcoholic frozen drink might be? Thank you for your help 😊Also, is that $199 in lieu of tipping the bartender with each drink?

  3. EEEK!! I'm a little concerned. Sailing Boston to Bermuda on the Dawn next Friday may 23rd and the 10 day extended forcast shows the weather for Friday and Sat (May23 and 24) to be rainy and breezy in Boston. Anyone have any idea how the waters will be? We have never cruised before and am wondering if we should start taking our Dramamine and wearing our SeaBands ahead of time. Any suggestions/experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

  4. 1. Can I bring my own happy birthday decorations to decorate our door and room with?

    2. What time are the evening shows? I am trying to plan a birthday dinner for my daughter and want to make reservations at Moderno but not sure if we should go before or after the show. (on a sea day)

    3. When I booked with a wholesale club travel agent, he asked if we were celebrating anything onboard. I told him about DD's birthday and he added a cake to our reservation. How does that work? Can we have it served at the restaurant that night or must we have it in our cabin?

    4. What is the best way for DD (24) to meet other people her own age? I'm sure she doesn't want to spend all her time with her mother LOL! Is it appropriate to go to the roll call board and ask if there are any solo travellers going to be sailing that cruise? Or at least other young people without kiddos? She is unattached and would enjoy spending some of her time with other cruisers (male and female) of the same status.

    5. For her birthday I'd like to give her a gift certificate to the spa. If I order it online through NCL, can it be printed or will they mail me an actual card? It doesn't really say on the website.

Whew - that was more than a couple of questions but as it gets closer I have more and more questions! I guess I'm a little nervous about my first cruise. Now if I were going to Disney, I know that place like the back of my hand!

Thanks for all the great info on these boards!!!

  5. Celebrating my daughter's 24th birthday on the Dawn. We are allowing ourselves one specialty restaurant to celebrate. Would you recommend Cagney's or Moderno? We are definitely meat eaters and like to try an array of different foods so we are leaning more toward Moderno but would love to hear both sides.

  6. I'm normally not a stupid person - I am an RN with a Bachelor's degree and graduated 54th out of 800 in my graduating class but for some reason I cannot seem to wrap my head around how to get around in Bermuda! I just looked at the bus schedule that was posted earlier and it looks like Greek to me! I'm getting so agravated with myself for not being able to understand this. I know it's not a hard thing but I can't seem to GET it!!

I will be in Bermuda via NCL May 25 (arriving 8AM), 26, 27 (departing at 5pm).

We have an excursion booked for 5/25 at 8PM (from the ship so I'm not too worried about that one) but please help me figure out how to get to the following places - I don't care what order we go in. We are getting the 3 day bus and ferry pass.I also have a bad knee so the less walking the better.

    We would like to see:

    - The Caves

    - The pink sand (I know the water may not be good for swimming but that's ok) - we realy just want to see the sand. We don't really even care about lying out in the sun - we can do that on the ship

    - The beach with the sea glass

    - The perfumery

    - the glassworks factory and rum cake factory

    - The zoo if we have time.

    - Wouldn't mind going past some of the beautiful homes on the way to one of these places.

We are not history buffs AT ALL so have no interest in the forts or other historically relevent things.

We plan to eat on the ship but might be willing to try a rum swizzle if there is a place nearby one of our destinations. Do not want to make a special tirp - it's all I can do to get to the regualr tourist places!

    Can someone please help?

I've only ever gone on vacation to WDW and know that place like the back of my hand - I'd be glad to return the favor if you need someone to help you plan a WDW trip :)

    Thank you!

  7.

    LOL :D :D :D

For the Chicago PBS membership drive, they have a DVD called 17 Seconds.

It starts at "17 seconds" left in the game and then it goes to home video of all the players and what they did with their turn with the Cup. It may to "too soon" for you to watch it, but as a hockey fan - its kinda cool to see what these players choose to do with it. Some drink out of it; but most take it back to their rink where they started and let all those mini's touch it. Very cool DVD.

We have it - we just don't watch it. Or CAN'T watch it - not sure which.

  8. Cruised last year during playoffs and there were NO games shown. Had to follow the games on the running "ticker tape" at the bottom of the screen on the sports channel.

That's it - I'm calling NcL in the AM to find out. We take our hockey VERY seriously here.

  9. Oh. My. Word. I just realized that there is a possibility that we may be on our cruise WHEN the Boston Bruins enter the final round for the Stanley Cup. Please, please tell me they will likely broadcast it onboard. I'd hate to cancel my cruise and lose all that money but I will if I have to!! I should have planned this better LOL!

  10. Where do I print out my luggage tags? I thought they were included in my edocs but when I printed the edocs, no luggage tags printed out. Am I wrong in thinking that I should have been able to print them or do they send them to me snail mail? Thanks!!

  11. I just finished my online check-in (woo-hoo) for myself and my adult daughter. When I printed the edoc , it had both of our names on the documents. Do I need to print out 2 of these or can one document be used for both of us when we get to the cruise port? We are traveling DAWN out of Boston on May 23rd.
