  1. Thanks for all of the responses.

Obviously lots of choices and options, will continue to research as our cruise gets closer.  The final answer may become more obvious based on the weather at the time.

We have been to Bermuda on a number of occasions, just have never been docked in the West End on a weekend without the option of taking the direct ferry through the cut to St. George.  Most likely to ferry to Hamilton and bus from there.

    Thanks again, all.

  2. Requesting a little guidance on the best way to get from King's Wharf to St George on a Saturday in May.  The direct ferry does not appear to run on weekends, so it would appear the options would be to:

Ferry to Hamilton, bus or taxi from Hamilton to St George

Bus all the way from Kings Wharf to St George

Taxi all the way from Kings Wharf to St George

Any help with these options would be appreciated, as well as any other options that might be available.

    Thanks for your help

  3. Flying in to San Francisco on Wednesday the 1st, arriving around 9 AM, will be catching a ride to the pier around 10 AM or so after picking up luggage, so we should be at the pier around 11 AM. Once we are able to board the Golden Princess, will we be able to drop carry on bags in our rooms and leave the vessel to explore a little bit of the other piers before we depart at 4 PM, or are we not permitted to go back on shore once we check in. Thanks for any help on this.

  4. If you haven't gotten it yet, you are not going to. Write to Post-Cruise customer service and tell them.

Funny. I thought that the smoke in the casino wasn't nearly as bad as most ships I have been on lately.

    :)

Ha - That certainly confirms that your results may vary - smoke was of course much worse at night than during the day, and there was a marked difference when entering the casino from the Centrum side v. the Palladium side.

  5. Pretty simple question -

RC Grandeur of the Sea 7 day trip from Baltimore, about 2 and a half days at the Dockyards, port fees = $ 178.67

Celebrity Summit 7 day trip from NJ, a bit longer in port, port fees = $ 223.63

Charged by the hour, ship size, is the cruise line getting a cut, any explanation for why the Summit pays almost $ 45 more for roughly the same experience?

  6. Actually it would be true if they are using canned coke. Duty free rum in bulk is less than two cents ($0.02) per ounce. Coke out of gun would be cheaper than that, but probably not out of a can. Given that labor is paid for by tips, the most expensive item in any non-call-brand drink is probably the paper umbrella in frozen drinks.

Water is in short supply in the Caribbean (the ship makes their own from sea water); all those days of sunshine come at a price of not much rain outside of hurricane season. Land resorts in the Caribbean often have complimentary afternoon rum punch parties - it turns out that rum punches are cheaper than long showers.

    Thom

Correct me if I am wrong here, but that computes to a cost of less than 64 cents for a quart of rum.
  7. Quick question on the decks of the Explorer - What deck would be considered the "promenade" deck on the Explorer, a lower deck in the shade with a walking track and deck chairs to sit outside but out of the sun. It appears it may be on deck but would appreciate any input before booking rooms. We always like to be close to this deck and use it as our balcony.

    Thanks for any help.
