Does this mean that we have an old ship?

The ship is about 24 years old, refurbished 2 or 3 years ago. We cruised on her twice when it was Pacific Princess and fell in love with her. Just a comfortable fit for us. A bonus is we love TA cruises. Our last cruise on this ship was Rome to Fort Lauderdale. It is definitely NOT a Carnival or RCCL large ship experience. And it appears there are over 80 cabins showing empty at this time so crowding will not be a problem. Not that it ever was.

  2. I am going to be doing the same thing.

My plan will be to exercise a little more so that I will have 2,000 calories a day to spend.....I  don't expect to lose. But hope not to gain.

I usually have veggie egg white omlettes,  oatmeal sans extras, or small bagel with salmon for breakfast.  Salad for lunch.  And limit my breads, starches, and sauces at supper.

I don't usually do dessert, but will have soft serves every day.  And I keep the drinks under control.

It take some work, but is possible.

  3. As the Pacific Princess leaves Princess cruise lines, so do I.  After sailing on her a few times I have been spoiled and will no longer sail the larger ships.  Now looking to Oceania, Crystal, and other lines with smaller ships.  Of all the ships that I have sailed, she was my favorite for so many reasons.

  4. We were on the Pacific Princess in July and went to the lounge the first night. After I felt guilty for crossing the border to the Elite lounge and "stealing" snacks I sheepishly walked back from where I sat. As we left I looked back and saw the sign Platinum, Elite and Suite guests. Being Platinum I felt pardoned of my misdeed. But we never in 14 nights saw anyone checking cards other than to charge off the drinks.

PS: We loved this ship so much we leave this December 5th for 17 nights. Can't wait.

  5. A few answers to the questions

Just another note, the pool area was always open but they never opened the water park, the ropes or anything like that. Only miniature golf was open on the upper decks.

    Cheers

I did notice that the ropes were open two of the last sea days, and the rock wall was open quite often. But the Slides were never open and I heard they would not be open until after drydock due to damage caused by the storm. The second main pool and little kiddie pool were open also more days.

  6. Ship is pulling into dock now. We arrived earlier than anticipated.

Ocean was much calmer last night. Hope all those cruising the BA next have a wonderful time!

There is some exterior damage. For those of you who have thermal spa package, I’m sure you will love it as much as my DH & I did! Just a heads up - the hot tub and pool in spa were emptied yesterday and still empty as of noon today. Probably because of sea conditions.

Thank you for the best wishes on the next cruise. We are sitting in a hotel lobby right now waiting to head over. They have asked us to wait until 8 before boarding but many have already headed over. Not sure when we will get there. Sounds like you had a different cruise then most of us have encountered. Glad you made it back safely. Stay warm.

  7. This has happened on the TA I am on in November also. I call it Cruise Line Math. When you do a dummy booking it starts off looking good and then at final billing there is huge jump in price. Makes no sense, Same as the specialty restaurant package they offered. Small discount for early booking that magically disappears when you actually book it. The have some serious problems in there promotional department that need to be addressed, and soon.

  8. It is odd when I look back to my first cruise on the old Nordic Prince in October, 1986 New York to Bermuda. We had the midnight buffet, tiny hors d'oeuvres on the bars and a book listing all the passengers by name and home towns. We thought it was great at the time and it was. And don't forget the one dining room for all three meals at the assigned table. Over the years the Nordic Prince has gone through growing pains and much competition and become a behemoth in both ship size and passenger levels. We have seen the perks slowly grow over the years to what they are now and the changes on the ship have been accepted. No more pillow chocolate, no more bar hors d'oeuvres, no more passenger manifests. But we still cruise because we love it. We will reach the D+ milestone on our next cruise in November. What lounge I have to go to at that time, or if I have one at all is of little concern. I am going to be on a beautiful ship, cruising with a couple thousand people that enjoy being at sea as much as I do and everything else is just frosting on the cake. Just my opinion.

Okay, stepping down from my soapbox now and happy cruising all.

  9. This is the thread that doesn't die

Yes, it goes on and on my friends.

Some people started reading it not knowing what it was

And they'll continue reading it forever just because........

Tried to attach a photo of my front yard under 5 feet of snow to dispute your claim but I am not tech savvy enough. That is a beautiful picture you posted. We are in the early stages of looking for property in Florida. Started in Vero Beach and worked south from there in January. A fall put my wife in the hospital in FLL for two weeks and she is still out of work recovering. Odd we leave the northeast and she has a slip and fall in Florida.

  11. Can I say I am happy with the change? No. I reach D+ on my upcoming cruise but am booked in a GS anyway so I guess it won't affect me until I cruise in the future. But after seeing the number of people using both the Viking Crown lounge and the overflow in the Colony Club on our last cruise you knew something had to give. Still not sure this is the end of it. I am not loyal to Royal but up to now it has been by favored cruise line. But travel is opening your eyes to other parts of the world, meeting new people from all over the world and trying new things. This can be done on Royal or any other cruise line. These changes just level the playing field for me. Never had a bad cruise on any line. It is what it is and any day at sea is better than a day sitting home.

  12. Thought this would be a good place to ask. On your C&A login page, if you go to profile or reservation page there is a tab labeled "Messages". Has any of you ever received a message? I check it once in a while and have for many cruises over the years and never received anything. I would expect something once in a while, whether it is a reminder or a change in policy. Just wondering.

  13. According to recent posts, the Seaview is now all seafood! :(

I have seen the same on the boards. Last time I was on the Brilliance it was pizza, pasta, and sandwiches. I will miss that. I haven't seen anything though on whether it is all fried foods. I go to seaview because of the seaview, so I am sure I will find something to eat there.
