Thanks. We're currently just overwhelmed looking at all the various tours available for our Intensive Italy cruise. OH has snapped up a visit to the Ferrari museum but beyond that we just don't know how to choose!

I'd say, from what my DH said, that the Ferrari museum was excellent; quite a long coach trip (from Ravenna) and well worth the journey and the cost.  This was recently - early May, on Onward.  And, generally, we think the excursions ARE worth the money... however, we are senior citizens now, and we enjoy the comfort and safety-net of being escorted.     Sylvia.

That's useful, Phil, about being able to drive around the streets - perhaps there'll be a 'next time'.

  2. Now, I’m really muddled - sorry.   This is a question for Host Kat.  Please see my question, above, which shows as a ‘reply’ to Post No.1.

The Roll Call  I’m trying to join is 2nd May, maiden voyage of Azamara Onward.  As I said, I have joined RCs before - just seem rather dim at the start of a new year.  Please help.

    Many thanks,  Sylvia  (TillyTheGreat)

Hello Host Kat.  And a happy new year to you, plus all CC members.

This is a question, rather than a reply - so I do hope that YOU WILL SEE IT….?   I have forgotten how to JOIN A ROLL CALL.  I have in the past joined, as you will probably be able to see.  Either the instructions have changed, or, more likely, my aged brain isn’t switching into gear like it used to. 🙄😏   Could you please help?  Many thanks.  Sylvia (aka Tilly)

Has anybody else had this experience?

Setting off for Southampton in the morning no idea if we will be allowed on the ship.

Hi.  We do sympathise with you.  Ten days prior to our sailing (23July) we were ready to cancel everything.  Far from being a tranquil, easy staycation the ‘jumping through hoops’ had become toooo much.

Stay with it… by now I’m guessing you ARE in S’hampton…. and for the benefit of anyone else who is frazzled by the apps, the paperwork, the testing procedures,  it WILL  all be worth it once you get onboard.  And Celebrity will bend over backwards to ensure you do.

    Enjoy your cruise.

I posted earlier but just wondering if  anyone has managed get their PCR cost refund yet? We sailed 17th July and nothing yet. I did get a call from USA Celebrity a week ago asking for my debit card details but nothing. Not happy 😞

Hi. We were on 23rd July sailing.  Similarly to you (mid-Wales),  there were no Eurofins within 1.5hrs at that time, so we travelled to Southampton two days ahead, and booked our PCR at a Medic Direct there… the deadline was scary!  Last week, like you, we hada call from Celebrity, checking details.  It  IS  all very slow; rather annoying.  😠

It was a promotion when we booked!
Later they were advertising free parking, but we missed out on that, as we had booked too early, 30/04/21.

Thank you.  I contacted Captains Club, who confirmed that we had indeed been credited with double points (48).  It’s not easy, is it, to find out all these little fringe-benefits.  Someone earlier had posted about Matt’s Planet, on YouTube - I’ve found his blog quite forensic in it’s comparisons.  Very helpful. 😊

Just wondering if anyone has yet had a refund due to 3rd party Covid testing. We sailed 17th July and submitted the details and receipts and have had nothing back. We did get the standard 'thank you for your email' reply. Thanks in advance x

Thanks for reminding me to chase the refund for Covid test, 38anchor.  Lucky you, with that wonderful sunshine!  We were on the next sailing, 23rd July, with quite different weather 🙄😔  although a lovely experience!

On another matter, (upwarduk)  how/ where do I find out about Double Points please?

I wanted to let people know that if they had any problems with their PCR test results the system they have at the port is  very slick.

Lovetoholiday - many thanks for your re-assuring post, about the cruise in general and about PCR re-testing in particular.  We're very glad that you had a thoroughally enjoyable experience.  This '72-hour' test, and it's implications, is what's causing us such worry that it is spoiling any sense of anticipation that we might have had.  Thanks again....  🚢 (not long now!)

  9. Thanks! TiVo set. Nigel was filming on our Quest trip around India in December too.

    Phil

Hi Phil. I hope to find the Sky 109 channel that the Nigel and Azamara programme featured in, yesterday evening (plus the forthcoming episodes).

But mostly, I wanted to thank you for that most thoughtful act of kindness at Athens Airport. It made the world of difference to my long and tiring day... just as well, as there was a huge motorway detour on the way home from Manchester... I arrived home around 1.5hours late (after midnight).

Best wishes, and regards to Helen too. S.

  10. I would like to see a sparkling wine included in the daily selections. This has been discussed in the past and it has been reported that Azamara likes to use the sparkling wine for special events only.

I say an Azamara cruise is a special event and I would like to celebrate it with sparkling wine at more than the special events.

Plus 4!! I too would love to have Sparkling Wine included in the 'all-inclusive'. I don't drink spirits, and only white wine, so it seems unfair that my choice (Sparking Wine) is not included. How about it, Azamara...?

  11. I can't for the life of me find a place to even set up a profile!

UK, Explorer level, loyal Azamara re-guest. CANNOT, after so many emails and promises from Le Club Voyage, ever get on to their mailing-list. I am, I have to say, losing heart in Azamara - why won't they listen to us, when we, more than any First-Time guest, are far superior 'Ambassadors' for the Company....

It's getting me down. Thanks for the link Andy - I'll have a look, tomorrow.

  12. We have just come back from a lovely cruise on the Quest which was up to the usual standard with just one exception.....there was no About Rose room spray. On questioning our room steward he said it was no longer given out, when did this happen? Is it only on the Quest? It was certainly supplied on our Spice Route Cruise in April this year on the Journey.

I know it's only a small thing, but its sometimes the little things that matter:)

Yes, I too missed it (on Quest in April), but failed to question it at the time. I wish I had done so... as you say, it's those little things that you remember - and are important when you (aim to be) a returning guest... these days I think that returning 'customer' is more appropriate...

  13. 1st June 2014

It will be interesting to see how we value this trip having been so cruise orientated recently. Certainly the bathroom, bedroom and balcony will be much bigger and we'll have lovely mountain views. Service will be top notch, so little difference there.

I follow what you say, English Tim, and the point I want to make concerns the Solo Traveller... Yes, land-based hotels provide magnificent service/facilities for the cost - for a couple. However, for a solo traveller such as myself, I consider myself very fortunate if I have a chance conversation with another guest at a 4* hotel, let alone be invited to join their table for dinner.

Cruising, particularly for the solo-woman, provides the perfect environment to socialise . . . "without appearing forward" or pushy.

This is where the concerns over the future of Azamara alarm me. In order to cruise (and due to poor health), I need small ships and 'luxury-lite' at a reasonable price. Thank you for reading...

  14. Bonnie I think this post sums up the problem

Hello Wondering Words and Bonnie, I'm in the UK, have registered and been assured by LCV several times that I'm now 'on the list'...but still nothing.

It does make me cross, un-acknowledged, irrelevent.

I must start taking more of notice of those companies who DO trouble to mail me...

  15. Hello YOW. (And Hello David&Julia).

What an enormous shame, and I can sense your disappointment in having to relay this story (on top of the disappointment of your gesture to your friends turning to dust...)

What is it that Azamara is failing to grasp? It's loyal customers are willing it's tremendous product not to crash. But the Company seems blind to these 'little' issues that matter SO much.
