  1. We shuttled to FFL and stored our bags then took the Sunline (I think that is what it was called) to lunch in downtown FLD. It was nice but we really couldn't find any shopping so just hung out on the riverwalk. There was a Christmas boat parade setting up so pretty cool as we are from WI. Still, this time we are going to rent a car and find a spot for brunch before our 3pm flight.

    Have a great vacation!

I know this has been asked probably 100s of times and I've searched this thread (transportation, FLL, Port to FLL, etc.), but sometimes it's easier to just ask again...

We will disembark the Escape Saturday 9/10. Our flight is at 445pm from FLL.

We don't want to spend 8 hours in FLL airport and instead do something and arrive at the airport at by 3pm.

Is there a transportation service or a tour that would bring us to somewhere and then pick us up and bring us to the airport afterwards?

Should we consider renting a car? Is that easy?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

  2. I was on the Reflection on my second cruise in December of 2014. I had a great trip and the only thing missing for me was the custom eggs benedict that the Eclipse had. The line was horrifically long as only one poor man was making them and you only had a choice of salmon or ham. The Eclipse had multiple options including a fabulous Italian version. YUM!

Honestly, the most disturbing was the people in line in various locations actively complaining about staff when the staff was in listening range. I was appalled with the behavior of these cruise patrons.

Happy Sailing! I am back on the Reflection in 1 year and 2 weeks!

  3. I am always concierge class and we have standard alcohol drink packages. We have 2 water bottle choices. I think the regular 12oz comes with our package but typically, at the bar at Mast, we can get the larger bottle with the package. I have no problem getting bottles, we just put a few in the fridge in the room (which I have cleared out when we arrive).

  4. Going on a Carnival Cruise in November with my children, DD 6 and DS 4.5. What do they need to wear for dinner on non - formal nights? Can they get away with their daytime clothing? I know no bathing suits. Thanks everyone!

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app

Oh, you have already sailed! On our first cruise my DD was 5 and she wore a nice dress, similar to what you would wear to a recital or Christmas. Easy to find on sale at any department store or to borrow from a friend.

  5. Here are a few of my dresses, though not on me until December!

This TART dress can be worn in zillions of different ways, the top is a wrap style. I can wear it like the pic, strapless, twisted, etc.

I saw this on Instagram on a celebrity. It was only $89 and is by BCBG. It is also for formal night.

My last dress is a BB Dakota. Love this brand. Stylish and affordable.

  6. We have a late flight day of disembarktion from FLL. My BIL/SIL do as well so we are looking for a company to do a shuttle combined with a tour. I looked into bigbustours.com but we will have our luggage as I cannot confirm valet service with Celebrity to Southwest airlines in FLL. Any experience with a company? We would like to do the Everglades, though not sure about the weather in mid December.

    Thanks!

  7. We have a 6 pm flight out of Ft Lauderdale after returning from our cruise in January, Looking for suggestions as to how to spend the day....planning on luggage valet so we won't have to drag the luggage around all day

    Thanks

What cruiseline are you on? Wondering if Celebrity does valet for Southwest at FLL.

  8. just print the one in ticket booklet yourself and call it a day. or have the porter at pier affix one.

Not worth the breath or bandwidth it takes to ask how to do it.

The preprinted ones don't make the luggage appear any quicker anyhow.

    Love your signature, Curt! :)

  9. I had an Italian version of eggs benedict in the OVC nearly every morning. YUMMO! They make multiple versions....

I 100th the escargot and I 2nd the "dip your bread in the leftover butter".

I didn't care for the tiramisu (but am picky about it) and ended up having Crème Brule nearly every night, as well as my BIL.

:) Discovering (and not paying, but yes paying ;) ) is all the fun!

  10. Thank you for the great replies! I feel like lunch is a great time for tenders/burgers/fries, but in the evening lets try something a bit more well-rounded! Plus, comparing my 5 year old in 2011 to my 8 year old now....she is much more willing to try other foods!

I may ask our maître de to not even give us the kid's menu!

    Cruise #2

    Celebrity Reflection, December 2014

    Cruise #1

    Celebrity Eclipse, December 2011

  11. Since I fly in the day before we sail, I make a trip to the local CVS/Walgreens and purchase my shampoo/conditioner as well as sunscreen and a few other sundries such as a and a febreeze spray and pump soap for the bathroom.

I do the same. I share with my DD8 who has super thick, long hair so usually end up using it all in 7 days, esp with swimming, etc. Whatever is left I throw out (no judging, lol).

  12. On our last cruise, the kids were always given a specific kids menu. They were a bit tired of the same few choices each night. Now that they are older, they would likely like steak or fish, etc. Is this allowed? Any experience here? This is only our 2nd cruise and YES I have already searched the forums. ;) ;)

    Thanks in advance!

  13. DD at 5 and her cousin at 6 loved the Kid's Club. We cruise again in December at ages 8/9 and will be happy to report how they liked it this time. We are going on the Reflection this time, though I am pretty sure the club is the same as on the Eclipse.

I will say, that when at sea during the day, the girls just wanted to swim so our extended family just took turns with them by the pool. We used the club in the evening while we were getting ready for dinner (late seating) and they often ate with staff since dinner was so late. There is a charge for dinner time hours now, $6 an hour?, but there wasn't in 2011 when we went before.

Will post again in December after our return!

  14. tophatgirl: First - WELCOME to CCF! On this thread we love to hear ideas that work, but we're also ready & willing to help and support soon-to-be-cruisers:cool:.

I agree w/ the shorts, tops, swimsuits. For me casual dinners are perfect for sundresses - easy to pack, too. My formal night dresses are short and lightweight so 2 don't take up much valuable luggage space. DH takes 2 pairs of long pants, several Hawaiian shirts, shorts, a couple golf or T-shirts and he claims 2 swimsuits are plenty for him...

Hamper?? We use one of the large suitcases, standing on it's wheels, partially unzipped. (The other large suitcase holds the rest of our clothes.)

I TOTALLY agree that an over the door shoe holder is one of the best organizational items to take! Look at the photo below...before the shoe holder, all those shoes were thrown in the closet and under the tiny table!

I am sailing Celebrity S class. I believe there are only pocket doors, so no over the door hangers for me. I am bringing a pop up hamper for convenience.

OK - here is what I have so far...

    Me:

1 silk dress - formal night

    1 grey/burgandy dress - formal night

1 pair black ankle dress pants

    1 pair cropped white jeans

    2-3 dressy tops

1 green silk top for Xmas family pic

1 sundress for cover up or whatever

    4 pairs shorts

    few tanks/tees

    1 pair dressy black shoes

    1 pair flip flops

1 pair brown sandals (no flip flops in MDR)

1 pair silver cut out ballet shoes

some other pair of shoes for other dress, haven't decided. I am trying to find a cute black dress to limit another pair of shoes. This is easily an excuse to shop somemore.

    2 swimsuits

    1 black cardigan

    DD5

    5 shorts/shirt combos

    2 swim suits

    2 sundresses

1 red velvet dress for Xmas family pic - formal night

1 sparkly sweater and satin skirt - formal night

1 dress - more dressy than sundress

    2 sandals

    1 flip flop

    1 sparkly ballet shoes

    DH

    2 polos

    1 blue button down

    1 khaki pant

1 grey sport coat - formal night

1 white button down - formal night

    2 ties - formal nights

    1 black slack

    2 shorts

    tees

    1 pair swim trunks

    1 pair brown dress shoes

    1 pair black dress shoes

1 pair Columbia low hikers for everyday

What do you wear on embarkion day? Miami in December - 70's? How long until it is hot enough to wear shorts?

    Sara

    PS post thoughts please!!

  15. Love this thread but I feel SO unprepared! 1st cuise in 5 weeks, packing for a family of 3 and overwhelmed! DH won't make any decisions, I have to pack for him as well as my dd5! I have no idea what to wear for daytime, what is appropriate for embarkment day (Miami), the list goes on an on! Trying to pack all of us in one large suitcase to check plus two small carryon suitcases.

I am up to page 17 of this thread...keep it going!
