  1. I noticed there’s no ships at coco cay on 5/6 or 5/7, a Saturday and Sunday. What are the chances this will change? Is there maintenance going on during these days?

I impulsively booked a 5/5 cruise on independence of the seas only to realize the next day that it’s just a Bahamas cruise and not stopping at CC 😭 this is 100% my fault but I’m wondering if there’s any chances it could change and we wind up stopping there. I’d lose half my money to change since we’re under the 90 days but I’m debating on just taking the hit.

That's what the Captain of the Norwegian Escape said last month,,, until the wind forced her aground in the Dominican Republic stranding a couple of thousand passengers and taking the ship out of service for a month while they patched a hole in the hull.

Yes it’s going to be breezy all week starting later today. I live in south Florida. Bahamas gets canceled a lot due to wind. It’s a very narrow area to go through and with wind it is always canceled. You are missing nothing with Nassau anyways. It’s rare Coca get canceled. I have only seen it happen a couple times there. With the east wind it should be fine there.

Yes we weren’t getting off ship in nassau anyway so I’m fine if we miss that port, the boat might just be a bit more crowded that day than I’ve been anticipating! But we’re really going for coco cay since we did this cruise in December and my 4 year old just LOVED IT. If that port gets cancelled I know he’ll be sad and asking for “pirate island”

I don't recall what the wind speed was, but the captain reported 40' to 45' waves on the Oct 2015 Anthem transatlantic.  The ship handled the conditions very well; some of the passengers, not so well.  😄

Was eating lunch in American Icon (deck 4 aft), next to the windows, and a wave just plastered the windows.

😱 not sure this makes me feel good About cruising 🤣

Just because there is high wind does not always equate to high seas. If there are high seas it does not always equate to sea sickness. It is the interval between waves which should be a bigger concern when it comes to sea sickness. On the bigger ships it usually takes about 8-foot waves before one would experience movement. Looking at the wave report for this weekend I am only seeing a forecast of 3-6 ft waves. It is all relative though because I know people who just look at the water and get sick.  My suggestion if you or someone is not feeling well, go to the center of the ship lowest deck possible. Somewhere near the casino would work...lol...they don't want those chips flying off the tables. Bring some Dramamine or purchase some sea bands...they seemed to work for my daughter when she was young.

This was very helpful, thank you!

I wouldn't worry about rocking ship or seasickness with those winds.

You will appreciate the wind when wandering around Nassau or going to the beach as it was high 80s and humid when I was there 3 weeks ago.

Cococay...they have be known to not be able to dock if winds too strong.

If you cancel now and rebook you probably be hit with extra charges and a more expensive future cruise, depending on ship, etc.

Yes I’ve been looking for alternatives cruises and the prices have skyrocketed! We booked two adjoined junior suites for this cruise. The price of just one balcony is $1000 more than what we paid for two JS! Looks like we’re going this weekend 🤣

  7. How bad is it to cruise with projected 20-30mph winds? This weekend we are going to Nassau and Coco Kay and the forecast isn’t looking great. We have two small kids and two elderly grandparents joining us and I’m afraid of one - rocking ship/seasickness and two - missing coco Kay. Should we cancel and rebook for another time?

From Carnival's web site: 5 day on the Paradise (from Tampa) leaving July 6 is available, as is a 5 day on the Elation (from Port Canaveral) on July 8.

Thank you! Yes carnival told me about these as well, but we were just gifted 5 days off at our jobs (4-8) so we would need to go now. It’s all good though, I knew it was a long shot

Yes, keep trying! Also check the website. Know that's it's not going to be a "deal" though, they aren't desperate.

Ok!! I’ll keep checking. I didn’t mean deal as in that it would be cheap at all, I’m not expecting that. I just want a trip away 😂

  10. Anyone ever have luck finding last minute cruises? I know it’s crazy, but I’ve been trying to get a room on board a ship leaving from either Tampa or Port Canaveral for this holiday weekend. The agent told me to keep calling back in case anyone cancels but I was curious to hear if anyone has ever had luck with last minute trips, especially on holiday weekends??

  11. Blue Lagoon does not include drinks. However, they have a bar there. They do include food. It's an EXCELLENT spot to go with a 1 year old. No need for a taxi, etc. Their boat is nice, covered, and not a bumpy ride. I wouldn't want to take my 1 year old in a taxi in Nassau, no way.

When you figure the prices, just factor an extra $30 for a few drinks and don't worry about it. I would definitely suggest Blue Lagoon for a 1 year old for a beach day. The lagoon has no waves, it's shallow, and really perfect for what you want to do.

    Great, thank you so much!

  12. I’ll be in Nassau next February with my fiancé and our one year old. I’ve been to this port a few times, but never to the beach. I’d like to do an all inclusive beach getaway so my fiancé can have a few drinks and we can relax by the beach with our son. Does anyone know if the blue lagoon tour offered by the cruise line includes food and drinks? What resort would be best for our family? Thanks for your help!

  13. In addition to wine tasting 101, pretty basic, Celebrity usually has an around the world wine tasting for about $25 pp. They have wines set up at different stations from different countries, a red & white, and you can wander from country to country and sample as much as you like. They also have a Reidel tasting, about $85 pp, which allows you to taste wine in a standard glass and then in the Reidel glass. The price includes a set of 4 different stemmed Reidel glasses.

We've also been to higher end wine tastings and port tastings on different cruises.

  14. For some reason Karaoke seems to be hit and miss. I have been on some sailings where they have had it almost every evening, others where they've only had it once or twice, if that. I am not sure what the criteria is for scheduling it.

It's good to know you have seen it though, thank you! :) I do NOT participate, but I love to watch the people that have the courage to get up there.

  15. Hi all! I will be taking my first Celebrity cruise aboard the Constellation next year, and I'm wondering if Celebrity offers wine tasting while on board? It's a 9 day cruise. Also, is there karaoke on board?

These aren't deal breakers, just things I'm used to enjoying on my past cruises, but I haven't seen them mentioned on the website or on here at all, so I'm curious. Thanks for any help/insight you can offer. Happy travels! :)

  16. Great review! I just booked the constellation for 2/16/16, for my 30th birthday! I, too, have only sailed Carnival, and I've loved every cruise, so I'm a bit nervous going outside my comfort zone. Did the ship seem updated? I know it's an older ship, I'm worried about signs of wear and tear. I'm super excited, and really appreciate your detailed review!

  17. Great points! That settles it, paradise wins! I'm so excited! It's been 2 year since our last cruise. I'm going to tell him we're going to Disney for the weekend and then surprise him and drive straight to the port! Now I need to brush up on my carnival info, seems things have changed a bit!

    Thanks again!!!

  18. Thanks for the replies. The prices are similar, and I keep thinking if we so Miami, we'd have to go the night before & get a hotel room and plus the gas & parking it'd be way more pricey than the Tampa cruise.

We don't do much on the ship besides exploring different areas and hanging out on lido, I guess the paradise would work. Do you feel the waves more on the smaller ship? It just looks old to me so it makes me nervous lol. Guess I need to start reading some reviews on it!

  19. I'm going to surprise my husband with a cruise for our anniversary. We live in Tampa, and we could go on the Paradise for 4 days traveling to Cozumel. Or, we could do the Victory out of Miami for 4 days to Cozumel & Key West.

I like the idea of leaving from Tampa since its so close, but I'm worried about the ship. I've never been on a smaller one before. I'm not sure if we'd like it. I've been on Victory in the past and loved it but I'm not crazy about the drive to Miami.

    Any advice? Thanks!
