  1. My daughter/bf just returned from a cruise and prior to them departing I posted a question on cruise critic inquiring if anyone had taken a post cruise excursion through RCCL. In particular I was curious about the Land and Sea or the Miami sightseeing. I believe there was one response re: the Land and Sea excursion. They opted for the Miami Sightseeing Tour as they preferred a double decker bus over a tour bus and there was supposed to be a walking tour.

They had to be ready to disembark the ship at 7:30am. They boarded the bus then they had to wait for passengers from other cruise ships. They started the tour around 9am. There was a guide on the bus as they were driving around. The bus did stop at South Beach and they were given 1 1/2 hours to walk around. There was no walking tour. At noon they reboarded the bus and headed to the Miami Airport where some passengers we dropped off. The passengers that were going to FLL also had to get off the bus, get their luggage and wait for a van to come get them. It took an hour for the van to come. Then they were taken to FLL airport. No air conditioning on the van made for a sweaty ride. They got to the airport at 1:50pm and everything was smooth getting checked in etc. In summary they would not take the tour again. They had a 4pm flight and wanted to kill some time. Had never taken a ship excursion as we have always used private tour operators. It wasn't terrible....just nothing they would repeat. Hope this helps if there is anyone wondering about the tour!!

  2. We are planning on doing the all inclusive. Did anyone use the lockers? I assume there are locks.....what type? Also I read somewhere that the towels are NOT included in the all inclusive. What was the fee for a towel? Thanks

  3. I asked a similar question on the RCCL forum and here is the answer I received:

Just off the Liberty a few weeks ago and took a land and "sea" tour offered by Royal, with a drop off at FLL. The tour was painfully unorganized. We lost 45 minutes to an hour of the tour because we waited for Legend passengers to show up. After boarding at the Liberty dock they took us over to where the Legend was docked. It was about a 2 hour wait as there was some sort of mis-communication about times on the Legend.

The land portion was rushed due to the time issues, and it really showed. We did enjoy the "sea" portion. We really toured the inter water-ways of the area, and never made it out to sea.

This tour only confirmed why I rarely use Royal for excursions, and it I doubt I would ever take a Royal excursion again.

  4. Thank you so much for your response. We have taken a cruise ship excursion once on our first cruise when I did not know about independent tour operators. The only reason I was looking at an excursion with RCCL was it looked like a simple way to kill time before our flight at 4. Your luggage travels with you etc. I definitely do not want to have an experience like you had.

  5. Thanks so much for your responses. I have a couple more questions. Is there a buffet by the pool on sea days? I read that in one of the threads but it might be old information. On the other ships there was a place on the pool deck where you could get burgers, fries, etc.....does Liberty have anything like that? Is there a station where they make fresh waffles etc? I know..... it is all about food!! Thanks

  6. Have been on Radiance and Voyage class ships but never a freedom class. Also have never been on a cruise shorter than 7 days. My daughter/bf are taking a 4 night cruise on the Liberty in Feb 2014. Is there a theme night (white ball, etc) on a 4 night cruise? Formal night? How often/times are the outdoor movies? Is soft ice cream available and where? Do you know what nights/times the shows are (Ice, Sat Night Fever, Air)? Where are the cantilevered whirlpools located? Thanks!

  7. Hi,

Wanted to book the Marriott Harbor Beach but it has no availability for the night I need it (2/5/14). Want to stay between 300-350. Now considering the Hilton Beach Resort. It is for my daughter/bf. Only there one night so would like a really nice hotel with nice grounds, close to shops and restaurants, near nightlife (or at the hotel). Doubletree Gallery One looks nice also. Is on location better than the other? Any other suggestions? Originally I was looking exclusively at beach hotels but they are only there for one night and don't arrive until 5pm so beach really isn't a major factor. Thanks.

  8. Hi. I've decided to book a pre cruise hotel for my daughter/bf for a cruise leaving Port Everglades in early Feb. She has booked a hotel but the reviews are not great and I want them to have a nice start for their vacation. I have read several threads and know there are many selections. What I am looking for is a nice beach hotel in an area where they can walk to things (restaurants, shops, etc.), nightlife at the hotel or nearby, fairly close to the cruise terminal. Thoughts on Bahia Mar, Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort? Under $300. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

  9. My daughter has booked a pre cruise hotel stay 1 night (Feb. 5) at the Historic Hollywood Beach Hotel on 101 N. Ocean Drive, Hollywood (yes, I know, the reviews are not great!). How is the location of this hotel? Any place to buy wine nearby? Distance from airport and cruise ship? Taxi best option to get from airport to hotel to port? Thanks!
