  1. We returned 2 days ago from our cruise.  We had the PERFECT day at Coco Cay!!  We rented a beach bed for $199.  We felt that it was well worth it!  I didn't think it was to much money.  We were on vacation and really did not want to have to rush to get good seats on the beach.  Like everyone else says, you don't have to purchase anything.  I couldn't even imagine going to the waterpark even if it were free.  Different strokes for different folks, We had a wonderful time snorkeling, swimming, drinking, having a delicious lunch and just relaxing on our beach bed.  All in all, a perfect day!

4 of us were denied boarding the Celebrity Millennium February 1st because celebrity decided to deny anyone who transited though Hong Kong. We arrived in Singapore Thursday afternoon and received an email Friday from Celebrity saying we were not allow to board Saturday. We were booted out of our hotel and headed back to the airport for our 36 hour trip home. Everything was booked though our TA, so when we contacted them today they said we would receive only what the cruise cost. We have over $8000 tied up in this trip including airfare and hotel, they said since we took the flight and the stay in the hotel we would not get that money back. We have insurance so my thinking is they would pay but I don’t know.

So my question is if anyone else has experienced this can you let me know how it came out.

I'm so sorry this happened to you!!

So to answer your question, no, to me it wasn’t worth it but that doesn’t mean you will have the same experience.

Thank you for posting your experience and photos.  I appreciate all the information I can get.  Now I will be mentally prepared for a crowd 🙂

We booked a beach bed on our cruise on Harmony last June.  We LOVED it!  The beds are set up right next to a bar and a short walk to the restrooms. We received bottled water and a delicious lunch served to us by a server dedicated to the beach bed/cabanas. If I remember correctly, you receive a menu at the start of the cruise on what you can order for lunch.  My husband has Celiac and they had no problems accommodating his gluten free diet even at Coco Cay. It did rain while we were there. The beds are covered and we just untied the curtains on the sides of the bed and we didn't have any issues with the rain. It was one of those brief beach showers that passed quickly.

you planing on hitting up the windjammer for dinner on the night shorts are allowed in the MDR?

just kidding. Might look for the cruise compasses for your itinerary that someone posted a few weeks before your cruise

LOL !  You are funny!  No, I must have given off the wrong impression!

I like to "theme" dress!  It is fun 🙂

No, of course not, as a dress code is simply a rule put in place by a private entity.  One can choose to patronize that entity or not.

Some people do take umbrage with others dressing a certain way, even though the private entity allows it, thus appearing to shun freedom of choice.

Also, you appear to enjoy the company of subjects over free citizens, per your own anecdote.

I really don't care what others wear-with the exception of swimwear in the MDR.   I was just teasing 🙂

No, thank you.  I much rather concern myself with what my party is wearing, while allowing others to enjoy the freedom of doing the same with their group.  Freedom is pretty cool; some people should try it.

I'm just curious, does having a dress code equate to lack of Freedom?  🙂

Might want to dive into the cultural difference in swim attire.... Some overweight Europeans seem to think speedos look good.

I could care less how someone looks in their bathing suit at the beach...  Bathing suits are meant to be worn at the beach.  I just think that people should wear what is appropriate for where they are.

But for the OP, if shorts are now allowed in the MDR-so be it.  I just know for my family we will dress nice for dinner as we always have.

Again.  That’s your opinion.   Not what’s actually happening on these cruises.
the dress code has changed a lot.    But thank you for your opinion.

Has the dress code changed or is it not being enforced?

We have only cruised 7 times.  Six cruises were in Europe.  It was wonderful!  People actually dressed for dinner!  Which of course I love to do.  and the dress code was enforced!!

We cruised 5 years ago in the U.S.  I couldn't believe how people dressed in the MDR.  I was very disappointed that the dress code was not enforced....  We only eat in specialty restaurants and the MDR for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Never in the Windjammer.  I do not want to see people in their bathing suits while I eat.

I was appalled that people were allowed in the MDR for breakfast half naked.... It really was disgusting.

I have finally decided to try cruising again the States.  I am hoping that the time of year we are going will yield an older crowd with people that might actually have some etiquette 🙂

I believe this poster was referring to the Coco Cay Beach Club day pass and not the beach bed.

You are correct!  I responded to the wrong post because I am looking for information on the Beach beds to see what is included and if it is worth it!  I can't figure out how to delete my response 😞

  11. Hello fellow cruisers 🙂

It's been 5 years since we have cruised.  I have a few questions to help me prepare 🙂

We will be departing Baltimore for an 8 night cruise on February 20th.

How many formal nights should I expect (love getting dressed up 🙂 )?

What are the current shows on this ship?  (LOVE the shows!)

Does the ship still have art auctions?

Will the Casino be open all day sea days and each night that the ship leaves port?

Thanks for taking the time to respond 🙂 !!!

We booked this for our February cruise on Symphony. At the time we booked, it was around $60. From what I understand, if you have the Ultimate Beverage package, it is included at Coco Cay. Since it also included the buffet, we felt it was worth the $.

The price on the RC website is $199!!  Is this the same beach bed?
