  1. Hey y'all! This is my families first time on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and just curious as to what we should expect? Any tips on what to skip, or must do's on the boat or at ports? We have cruised Carnival many times before so we know the general idea of cruising. Cruising the Navigator out of Galveston in June going to Cozumel, Jamaica, and Grand Cayman. Any tips are appreciated :)

Like the others said, everything about the ship is mostly great. We ordered the Specialty dinning package that included Giovanni's, Chop's, Sabor and Izumi. If we had it to do over again, we would not get the package. We had a bad experience in Chop's.

I ordered a New York strip in Chop's and it was one of the toughest steaks I have ever had. My wife had the filet mignon, and it was good. She gave me some of hers. I had a side of corn in Chops that had a funky flavor and I could not eat it. I would skip Chops.

We really enjoyed Sabor. That's a must for us again. The best margarita I have ever had. Table side guacamole is fantastic. We were stuffed leaving Sabor.

Giovanni's is good. The filet in Giovanni's is the same you get in Chops, so if you want a filet mignon save $10 each and go to Giovanni's. Izumi is good too.

Flowrider is fantastic. Make sure you stand in line for your ice-skate tickets so you get the time you want. It's a must see. It's free, but you have to get tickets because the rink only holds 750 at a time.

  2. Oh, another thing... Carnival seems more crowded to us. For example, Mariner of the Seas is listed as 138,279 GRT and Carnival Magic is listed as 130,000 GRT. A Gross Registered Ton is how they measure the volume of space in a ship.

Mariner of the Seas is listed to hold 3114 guests and Carnival Magic is listed to hold 3652. Magic has 538 more pax in 8279 GRT less space. To me, it fees like it too.

  3. Read again... Why are RCL ships the best? You mean all of the stuff to do on them? Rock wall, etc, shops, restaurants?

I like RCL ships because of the layout. Very roomy. I love the open areas. The promenade through the center of the ship. The ice show on Mariner was pretty "cool". How many ships have an ice rink? We liked that.

But the layout, I know this is vague. We just found Mariner to be easy to get around from one end to the other.

  4. Oh I'm not an employee! I was very sincere when I posted. I've inly been on Disney but I'm very much looking forward to my Carnival cruise. I know so much about Disney and next to nothing about Carnival. I posted to learn more about what people love and what I can look forward to. I'm very excited about trying Carnival for the first time. I posted earlier that I'm very low maintenance and only have been on Disney because I'm a local southern Californian Disney nut, lol. I love Disney. However, Carnival is here local this summer. A cruise is better than no cruise IMO so I'd rather try a local cruise than spend money to fly out to Disney this summer. I love Disney for the theming and family stuff but I love cruising just for relaxing and looking at the ocean. I don't need Disney exclusively for that.

Oh, I did not mean to offend (if I did). We really enjoy Carnival and I'm sure you will too. My wife and I are looking forward to our next cruise on Magic in August/Sept.

  5. I sometimes think threads like this are posted by Carnival employees. Carnival is nice, but so are the other cruise lines. My wife and I cruise Carnival most out of convenience, as they operate full-time out of the port we use most often.

I have cruised on many different lines and out of them I would rank Carnival third behind Disney and RCL.

We liked Disney because of all the entertainment you get on board (and off). We like RCL because of the ships. RCL's ships are the best. RCL's on board entertainment is better than Carnivals.

That being said, we have cruised on Carnival the most, like I said out of convenience of schedule.

We have done inside and outside but no suite yet. I really like the inside cabins because I sleep much better, but I love the ocean views and sounds of the balcony. I agree that you should get more if you pay more, but to me it seems like all you get for paying more is the same cabin, same service but in a more desirable location on the ship.

  6. Hey Marie,

Not sure why we aren't on the list. We did receive a phone call from Crucon about a week ago with the same info. Hard to tell exactly how they do things. We did receive a bit of OBC from price reductions, but the phone call renewed my hope about the original amount for booking with the group. I guess we'll wait and see.

Same here regarding the call. Kathryn left a message. I sent Kathryn an email and she replied that it would be arriving when we return home.

    :(

  7. I enjoy looking at all of the webcams from the places I've been and those I would like to go. I have pulled the ones I like together into a simple site (see my signature) so that I can find them without digging through a long list of Favorites.

If you have a favorite webcam that you think I would like (think beaches, pools, and cruises) Please let me know. I'm always looking for more good ones!

    Thanks

    Thanks Larry. Fantastic.

    :)

  8. Synchronize what your eyes see to what your body feels. Get up on deck and look at the ocean, at the horizon. Drink plenty of water and be active. Walk around the deck and look at the ocean and horizon. Your inner ear will slowly get used to being tossed around, especially if your brain can confirm it from a couple sensory sources.
