  1. Rickdog,

As of today a category IC is going for 879 and Family mini suite prices about 1074. You must have paid less than 879 for the cat IC. That seems like a lot of money for an inside, especially when the inside guarantee is 279.

Sounds almost like they charged you the difference between the going rates on the rooms.

    Hi

Rates have dropped since I booked back in January. For the same category suite today (M2), if I would have booked today, it would have been $1000 more total, and we paid $400 more. My original fare was $1018, and now they show me at $1418 before junk fees with my kid being no charge.

  2. Hi

I got a wonderful for this weekend's Getaway 9/18 sailing. We had an Inside Stateroom (Cat IC) and for $200 each, $400 total, got upsold to a Family Mini Suite Balcony. I thought that was a fabulous deal as it would have been another $1000 more versus what we paid when you do a mock booking. We still retain the $150 OBC and UBP. Thanks to all the advice on this forum or I would have had no idea of the Upsell line. Appreciate it. Does everyone agree that I got a great deal?

  3. Hi

My sailing is on 9/18 (10 days out). I already have a Inside Cabin (IC) booked on deck 11 mid ship. For $318.20 additional, I can upgrade to a balcony (BD), but I would lose $50 of my $150 OBC. They seem to have a lot of inventory left. Should I do this, or wait and call the upsell line next week. Would I get a better deal you think? On the balcony upgrade it would be a guarantee in that category. Are there really bad ones in that category they can stick me in? I am on the fence, but could use some advice. Thanks.

  4. Update on my OP. The TA researched it and did indeed admit fault and has added the UBP to my account, and has paid for the gratuities for it as well, to the tune of $173 and change. So I do feel satisfied, but I should not have had to pull teeth for them to do it. Thanks for your help everyone.

  5. Seems to me that your TA may have forgotten to select the Free at Sea UBP option when booking in January and therefore the 18% was not charged. I think the cruise fare may also have been a bit less if a Free at Sea option was not selected when booking, as we booked the same cruise for the week before yours, inside with same options that you wanted. (free 3/4 pax and UBP). The UBP gratuity was shown on the confirmation.

The UBP price did go up since January but if you already had the UBP selected in January you would not need to pay the extra gratuity to cover the extra cost of the UBP. We recently upgraded to a balcony and for that reason we had to go with current promo so the UBP gratuity is based on the current cost.

Thanks for the clarification. I do hope they can get it straightened out, and I will make the TA honor the original gratuity price before the price increase. They are currently researching it and will get back to me by tomorrow. If by chance the TA does not add the UBP, why is it so difficult for NCL to add it to my reservation when there phone agent said I should have access to it. It is NCL's offer and they need to stand by it.

  6. Did you have an earlier post that your reservation isn't showing the beverage package? I believe you stated you booked an inside, which I thought at one time NCL had only one free perk when booking an inside, and 2 with the oceanview, balcony, etc, etc. If your original pricing document didn't at that time show the fees for the drink package then it wasn't added. Seemed to me like you chose the 3/4 guest free instead. Perhaps if you had booked an Oceanview then the drink package would have applied.

    Hi

Yes I did have an earlier post that is showing the beverage package was not added to my reservation. At the time, they were doing Kids Sail Free on select sailings and choose one of the four Free at Sea offers. No they did not charge me the gratuity for the beverage package when I booked, as they said it would be charged on board. I did call NCL and they even agreed with me that I should have access to the UBP on my account as my promotion, but the agent was not able to add it, and said to contact my TA. He stated if the TA won't do it, he stated to call back after they run the inquiry and a supervisor at NCL should be able do it. Hope that clarifies my issue. Thanks for your assistance.

  7. Hi

I need the expert's advice. I booked my NCL cruise on the Getaway that leaves in 30 days. The promotion they were running at the time was to pick one of four Free at Sea offers plus 3rd and 4th person sail free on select sailings. When I booked back on 1/23, I had a long discussion with the agent and was told he was adding the UBP package to my folio. I even have an email from him from May 13 when I asked how much the gratuities would be (because NCL raised the price). He confirmed even though I booked early, I was not grandfathered into the rates and would have to pay $99.54 PP. I am disputing this with a manager, who says I need to wait until 8/25 at the latest for them to sort it out. What should I do? The TA is not returning my calls. I even have an email from NCL sent out on 1/22 that was the special they were running that was good until 1/25, which is the reason why I pulled the trigger when I did. This is a copy of the email:

Any suggestions if the TA does not honor what they said to me? Thanks for your help.
