Hi, I have always read the reviews from other people and have learned alot from them so after 11 cruises, all with Carnival, I thought I would finally write my own. We sailed the week of 9-17-11 to the Western Caribbean. We had an aft extended balcony on the Vista deck, cabin # 9477.
I will give my honest opinion about everything we encountered. If you have questions, please ask. We took alot of pictures so I will try and put them in order with my review.
Alittle about us, we are from Ohio. This was our second time on the Dream. We always cruise in September. It was myself, wife and our 13 year old son. Last year on the Dream, we noticed that the service was possibly beginning to slip, especially in the dining room. I will say on this cruise, everything was fantastic. From our room steward to our head waiter and her assistant. All the bartenders throughout the ship were great. Butch the cruise director and his possible girlfriend/assistant cruise director Amy or as she was also called (6'3) were incredible. This was our third time in a row with Butch as our cruise director and we absolutely love him. Don't know if there is a better one out there. Butch did tell us that Amy and he will be moving to the Carnival Magic out of Galveston in January.
We took over 500 pictures and since they are still downloading to my PC, I will come back tomorrow and start this review. One big item I wanted to bring up early concerning the sewer smell. Last year on the Dream, we smelled it only once at the back of the ship. This cruise we smelled it everyday. It was evident toward the back of the ship as we walked the hallways to our cabin. One night the odor was so bad, people were literally holding their noses getting in and out of the elevators. It was really bad. Didnt stop us from having fun, but the smell is there.....:eek::eek:Ok, tomorrow the fun, indepth review with the pictures start..... Have a good night.
WOW !! Not GOOD ! I appreciate you honesty and will be looking forward to the rest of your review.

Hampton Inn East right across the bridge offers Free parking and the rooms are nice and clean for 79 to 89 a night. Plus theres a Ruby Tuesdays right in front of the hotel. Taxi cost around 12 bucks to go over the bridge , to the port .;)

Yes, playing games. I cant name the TA site, but I know one who uses 1A prices as starting prices .. and Carnival uses 4A prices as their starting inside prices.. so if you are seeing what you think is a lower price than Carnival's in public .. its game playing.
Your right on with that post ;) !
Makes me wonder how many others on this board are catching on to Carnivals little game .

Playing games for comparing early saver prices! :(
Absolutely ;) ES is the price to beat.
For example internet Cruise sites can't sell any rooms cheaper than Carnival .
These sites are offering those rooms as an illusion to the cruise shopper.
Makes the cruise shopper think there getting a better deal than with Carnival .

Whew ! OP started this way back September 4th, 2008, 10:20 AM .
R-17 would be the larger room ;)
Current today ,
Interesting things I have noticed concerning the 1 A's is that internet travel sites offer them when while Carnival site says there sold out ??? .

TO BEEP MANY ;)
Hello Carnival ,revamp is in order  !

The size of the pools , on all the ships !

I know of no other parking a block down .
Best bet is to find a hotel that offers free parking while you cruise .
Then your all rested up the next morning and ready to board ,for about the same price you would have paid to park at the port .
Fairly good rates around Jaxport for park and cruise hotels.

First of all - yes, the drinks did flow! AS O said, they were pre-made so there was no delay waiting for the bartender (unless you wanted something special). My lord, I was toasted at the end of the hour and I am a big guy who can handle a lot of liquior. I easily had 7 of these blue marghetta's. Yummy And then a pair of ladies offered me a shot of something at the bar - called a "milky nipple" - how could I refuse!
I told many people, including Carnival staffers, that I am on Cruise Critic and most were not impressed one way or another. I mentioned it specifically to the staff at the party and the Carnival customer service person I talked to on board about the party. I did not mention it when booking the party initially because of stories on this board that Carnival did not like booking CC groups to these kind of parties due to difficulty in controlling who was attending and payment. I really do not know if this is 100% true or not, but I did not want to take a chance. Of course, the way we did it eliminated that problem.
Confirmed 100% true , There is more to be said here on this topic.
I'll leave it at that .

I called Carnival Customer Service and told them what I wanted to do. I just told them the group was my "friends and family". I did not mention Cruise Critic.
You did good :D.

According to the Ocean Players club, http://oceanplayersclub.com/AboutTheClub/MembershipAndBenefits.aspx
1 point for every $2.50 on slots,
1 point for every $5 on video slots
Table play is based on your average bet over a period of time ???
Also on the Dream last month there was a sign saying free drinks with 1000 points.
Plus when you get above 1000 points you get cash back at a rate of 1 cent per point.
So $2.50 to get a point, then after you bet $2500 you get $10 back.
I think I will just play the slots for fun and pay for my own drinks....[/quote]
Luv it ,when common sense comes to play ;)

Not a perfect view ,but a view is better than the side of a lifeboat.;)
I love the 4K cabins while theirs no balcony ,the French doors open inward for fresh air .

You would think somebody invented cornflakes , again ;).
I cruise for the ship, not the CD. Never did and never will see the glamor with it .

Television question on Carnival Cruises.

Not gonna see that on the in room TV. However if you look around on Lido ,I'm sure you will see several people that remind you of the show ;).
So it's not a total loss :D.
