    HI

Table 402 is an oblong table for 6.   Great location in a corner right next to the window.

Thank you for prompt reply deckchair. I may attempt a "request" for our upcoming trip.  Thank you for  photographs.

  2. Thank you for your feedback. Apparently all Atrium view staterooms are now sold out on the crossing she was considering, the TA did say they were always a popular choice.  I must say the privacy issues ( window opposite and glass elevator) would have been a deal breaker for me. She is now happily booked in a balcony room, it will be her first crossing and is giddy with excitement  !!

  3. Just in case of late arrival of luggage to our stateroom I always pack a dress, heels,a set of unmentionables, cosmetics and hair "stuff" in my carry on luggage.Safe in the knowledge I would be able to shower and prepare properly for our first evening onboard. Relieves the stress a little, especially after a long day of travelling to the port.

  4. I think I would probably book an appointment for a shampoo and blow dry before a trim is necessary. This gives you the opportunity to have a consultation and develop a rapport with the stylist. He/she will then understand your wishes ,have experienced styling your hair giving you the best chance of a happy result. I think the idea of asking a female member of crew for a recommendation is excellent.

  5. Hmmmn. Any particular staff?

    Onboard or shoreside?

Of course each and every one of us who sail with Cunard are subject to being on the 'Cunard' computer system.

Just my opinion of course but if one believes that there is a random computer generating programme for Cunard upgrades then one should also buy lottery tickets regularly.

My husband reliably informs me that the information re:- computer generated upgrades was told to him by a senior officer in conversation at a cocktail party held to celebrate a friends birthday. The information was in response to my husband remarking on Cunards generosity at our upgrade to QG.. Husband looked at me aghast when I asked if he could remember said officers name or position:) Don't do the Lottery either, don't like leaving anything to chance....:)

  6. Well, lucky as we have been with upgrades, it has certainly not been "who we know" in our case. We know nobody of influence in Cunard, nor Carnival, and I do suspect they have been computer generated - or we've been amazingly lucky!

Agree totally, I've been a "Cunarder" since I was a small child travelling with my parents...Could not count the number of Cunard voyages we have enjoyed..I can recall been offered small upgrades (usually within grade) on only a handful of occasions, but declined all but one. We know which staterooms we want, book them and are happy with our choice. The one upgrade we accepted some time ago was to QG from PG. In conversation with staff we were informed that upgrades are computer generated...

  7. Thanks for info we are also from north yorks - one more question did you find it kept the sea sickness at bay ?

Luckily I have pretty good sea legs and never suffer from sea sickness (even when tottering around in four inch heels).1069 is pretty much midships and a low deck, I believe this to be advantageous . One other important point I love the pillows and found the bed to be comfortable . One negative, the TV was not mounted on the wall but sat on the desk/dressing table taking up valuable space...Have a wonderful time .....:)

  8. Hi look forward to reading all about your venture,

we are doing the cruise next oct in delux inside on deck 1 1069 so interested in how you find the location especially around traffic noise and how you fare going through BoB, not sailed Cunard so any info appreciated

I stayed in 1069 last year on a cruise with my girlfriends. I occupied the stateroom as a solo and was pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness . There was a sofa, chair, stacks of wardrobe and drawer space. There are very useful drawers under the bed.The bathroom was a tad on the small side but adequate. I found the location quiet and very convenient for the Grand Lobby, one deck up and you have Café Corinthia, Golden Lion, Library , Queens Room etc. Deck 1 is also convenient for the theatre' if you walk forward on leaving your stateroom you can beat the crowds :-) I had a wonderful time, as it was a winter cruise I didn't really miss the balcony. Have fun !!

  9. One of the advantages of embarking in Southampton..no worries about the weight of my luggage . I agree,Austcruiser 84 if I had limited luggage allowance , extra shoes would win every time ! :)

  10. Each to their own I guess, my favourite is Cloudy Bay not Oyster Bay.......The SB on the wine list is not to my taste. We regularly select reds from the wine list, cost does not come into the equation. A few bottles of Cloudy and Veuve packed and loaded with the rest of our luggage is not a hardship. One of the great things about Cunard policy is the adult approach to guests wishing to bring wine onboard. They certainly make a nice profit on our bar bill. :)

  11. We have taken both gifted bottles of champagne and bottles of my favourite Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc to the MDR. We deliver it to the maitre d' in Britannia ahead of time (usually breakfast or lunch} so that it appears suitably chilled at dinner. We always pay 20 dollars corkage. I prefer to think we are discerning rather than cheapskate :) In any case fellow diners are oblivious to the fact. Other evenings of course we choose from the wine menu.

  12. We were also on this cruise and concur wholeheartedly with the above comments. A lovely cruise, our eighth on Elizabeth. We booked quite early on Cunard fare and were allocated a table for two in Britannia as requested. The table was in a run of three placed quite close together. With delightful neighbours, our table for two quite happily became "six" by the third evening. Both my husband and I remarked the quality of food was superb at both dinner and lunch. In fact for the first time I occasionally chose from the Spa menu and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavours. Our stateroom was kept really well by our "invisible" steward. All in all a lovely cruise helped along quite nicely in Commodore with extra OBC due to hubbys military service!! Hic !

  13. We have on occasion taken a favourite bottle of wine to the MDR, We have always paid corkage. My husband usually pops it down to Britannia at lunchtime, gives it to the maitre'd who marks it with our table number. It is waiting for us at our table that evening. In the unlikely event of the bottle not being finished that evening it is brought back the following evening. :-)
