  1. So I want to mail post cards from different ports of call on my Panama Canal cruise.  How is that best done? Can I take US postage stamps? Has anybody done this?  I don’t want to just wait to get back to the US to mail them. I don’t care how long it takes, but would like them postmarked in the country’s I mail them from.

  2. Ok so if you’re happy with the price of the Fitzpatrick Grand Central book it. It’s far enough from the madness of Times Square that you can avoid the madness on New Years Eve.

When it gets closer, reserve a time for the ice skating it’s very popular. Your hotel will be very close to Bryant Park which is set up with a European style Christmas market with a tree and ice skating rink. Very pretty at night. If you have your heart set on a specific show it’s better to purchase now than wait. Make sure you go to the official show website. There are many websites that are third party sellers which add on ridiculous fees.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated

  3. Yep, cruise leaves Manhattan terminal Jan. 2nd. Thought we would catch the red eye the night of Dec.29th. Portland Oregon to JFK for only $250. That’s 3 nights in Manhattan before an 18 night Panama Canal on the Gem. Girlfriend wants to see a broadway play and ice skate at Rockefeller center

  4. Ok, I got it. Thanks. We just got off the Jade. We didn't have the SPD and went to Moderno. It was $24.99 before any gratuity. So I was thinking 3 nights = $75 and 4 nights = $100. Wasn't sure where they came up with the $84, but if that is what they sell the package for that makes since now.

    Thanks

  5. Wow long thread. I wish the search function was still here. This thread is way to long for me to read it all. Anyway I am looking at doing an Alaskan cruise departing from Vancouver. I want to take the Amtrak from Vancouver Washington to Vancouver BC. Looking at their on-time rates I am a little afraid to take the train the same day. Has anyone had problems making their sailing due to Amtrak running late. If that is too big a risk looking for recommendations for a hotel close to train station/port in Vancouver BC.

    Thanks

  6. When we did this 2 years ago we booked direct with dolphin discovery. If you go to their website and look for the coupon or specials they have a buy 1 at regular price get one for $1. I belive it was $129 for two of us for the Royal Swim. This included transportion. For the transportion we were told to just grap a cab to the park. Once you get there you let them know you are there for the dolpins. A dolphin discovery employee will pay for the cab. For the trip back they give you a vocher worth $15 for cab fare. ( They give you the vocher so you can do other things in the park before going back ) we use the vocher to take us out to Nachi for the rest of the day, and then used cash for a taxi back to the dock. There were two ships in port that day. The Liberty ( ours ) and the Valor.

When we got their we were early by about an hour. We were the only ones there from the Liberty. Shortly after we got there a group came from the Valor. ( about 6 people ) Their reservation time was not the same as ours. I can not remeber is it was later or earlier, but we all went together. They paid around $100 per person and had to pay their own cab fare. But beings they put us together they got to do the Royal Swim instead of the dolphin encouter that carnival offered. ( The dolphin encouter does not include the foot push )
