This-I can't get over how many folks on cruises or airplanes think their music is better than anyone else's.  Let each one use the airpods!  My grands do and I'm grateful. lol Thought about the coloring books but I have a huge case of pencils so, probably not.

  2. I know there are accessible tenders but what is there in Belize to do for someone who is stuck using a scooter nearly full time? He can only walk short distances and that not comfortably. I want him to enjoy this cruise as much as possible. Going in late October. Thanks in advance for your help.

  3. Yes, my comment about the elevators was because you could only use a certain bank of them for some floors and other banks of elevators for different floors. Unwieldy at best. At least we weren't the only ones confused!

And indeed, it was truly beyond belief to sail with no lines, anywhere! I know that part will never be repeated. Thanks to all who had hopes for us to have a good time. We sure did.

If someone can teach this old gal how, I will be happy to add on some pictures.

  4. My group of three was supposed to sail on the 9th but didn't get to go until the 13th, with itinerary change to Mexico. No biggie for us on itinerary change as we were just happy to get to go. Got to port in plenty of time, considering power outages and debris. No power to escalators at port. Oh well! Got on board in just a few minutes. EVERYbody was so nice! Had FTTF but that didn't matter much as there were only 800 people cruising (not counting crew, of course). Never again in my life will I expect such service on a cruise ship! Plenty of help for everything. When we first walked around, the ship seemed a bit less clean but by the evening, all was spic and span! You have to remember, some of the people cruising had been on the ship 13 days! After exploring a bit of the ship, we all decided they needed to add a bit of shaded area to Serenity. It was hot, hot, hot! We are used to the heat but this was way too hot. The cabin was a little smaller than expected but it worked out just fine for 3 women and all their stuff. The worst thing on the ship is the elevator system-can you say confusing? Met an awful lot of people trying to figure out how to get to certain areas because the elevators are set up strangely. lol It got to be a joke after a couple of days. Due to so many folks cancelling, the pools were nearly empty at all times. We got to simply enjoy. I will post some pictures as soon as I can get them all off my phone.

  6. Doubtful they are letting people fly in, people are having a hard time flying out! Last flight out tomorrow from Miami is 2:00 pm and that flight is going to Houston. Lots of people are stuck!

Indeed, last I knew ALL our airports along the coasts are closing or closed. Living sw FL, we watch all this stuff pretty closely. I feel awful for anyone who got on a plane yesterday thinking they were cruising this weekend. This is going to be losses in the billions for the companies and much worse for those in the path.

  7. Supposed sailing 9/9 now sailing 9/12 but no update on cruise docs. I am getting out of Dodge! Will be back just before then. I realize a lot is going on but updated cruise docs is key. We live in sw FL and I still have to work today but after that, no access to my "stuff" for a bit. Does anyone know how long it will be until they update? I mean, the weather/travel advisory still says they will update tomorrow-from Wed. lol And southern Mexico had a major earthquake yesterday.

  8. Ok, thanks all for your responses! I admit it, I was having a "stress out" moment. It's over now....I think.;) but I do thank you all for your advice. I told my hubs about going to port without them. He likes the idea of the 2 of us going the night before so he can see me off.;):* Then the other 2 ladies can get there when they get there and I will be finding a spot in the shade. lol

  9. You must really like your boss. My boss is the LAST person I would want to spend my vacation with.

Actually, she's quite a sweetie, just always late. She's very kind and generous person and we were friends before she became my boss. It's the late thing drives me bonkers at times.

  10. Please tell me you are not sharing room with them.

Getting to the ship for embarkation is the least of your worries. What are you going to do when they are being lolly-gagers on the island? I hope they have hefty credit cards. I'll have to agree, going on a cruise with my boss would be the last thing I would do, unless they were paying. Then I would still not share a room with them. It's nice to be coworkers as work, but we are all different people without our makeup on. Agree with others, get their on your own. You can meet up at sail away for a drink, etc. Good luck, happy sailing!

We are not doing all excursions together, hooray!! We are doing a couple things together. Yup, staying in same cabin. lol Still thinking it's gonna be fun (may slip one of the a half-valium! JK, jk, jk).

  11. If your boss paid for this cruise and you are getting "rewarded" from work, then it sounds like you are screwed.

No, thankfully, we each paid our own way. I am listening to the other posters and just may leave for port by myself, sit by the pool with a cool...something. lol

  12. Look, you are not your brothers (or boss/coworkers) keeper, these are grown women that will get there when they get there. Why are you stressing out about what others do??? Get yourself to the port when you WANT to, get settled in, have some lunch and probably a drink from the sounds of it!!! No way am I going to be responsible for a grown person that is completely capable.

I guess I sounded a bit like a raving lunatic. lol The problem is we are riding together. As to anything else, I am gonna take the back seat and play my games or read a book.

  13. Going on Vista in a few weeks with my boss and a co-worker. It was my idea to book this cruise so I am getting very nervous about a couple of things, number 1 being getting 3 women to the port on time! Boss is habitually late, co-worker decided to work "a couple hours" that morning and I don't know what to do. We live about 4 hours from MIA so I would like to be on the road by 8:00. NOT gonna happen now due to co-worker:(. Boss thinks it only takes 3 hours to get there so she would like to leave around 9-ish, which really means 10 or later for her;p. I bought us the FTTF and it says our time is 12:30. Is this a static thing or can we be a bit later and not have an issue?

Next is the ability to communicate with one another while onboard, if we are going separate ways (please, God, yes) for part of the time. I must be getting senile because I can't figure out on the Carnival page how to work this out without it costing too much. Help!

Lastly, you all post such marvelous ideas. How do I implement some of them without seeming like I am being a....being pushy? I want to have fun, not think about work and not be pushed into doing anything I don't enjoy. Too much to ask? LOL Thanks for any insights you have! Don't be afraid to answer in detail. I can re-read it if I need to. :D;)

  14. The big difference is... Mickey Mouse. I can see him at the Magic Kingdom! Sorry, we are just over DCL and laugh at their prices now. Trying to warn others that the emperor has no clothes.

Our friends who have always been staunch Disney cruisers now cannot afford to go. Not because their income has changed but because prices are through the roof. Even as DVC members, they can't afford it. Most of the big incentives are gone, too.

  15. Hate to break it to ya, buddy, but.. most people are up and around by 8!

By 8:30 there are hundreds of us lined up to disembark the ship to go ashore and explore.

I'm assuming you hit the cabin to crash sometime well after midnight?

    .

There may be hundreds of you lined up to disembark but you shouldn't ASSUME when someone else goes to bed. With my health issues, I must sleep larger normal amounts in order to be able to enjoy a few hours of activity. Just because you get up by 8 doesn't mean each and every person SHOULD. Besides, for all you know, these people normally work late shifts and the vacation time is for recharging.

  16. My husband and I want to celebrate our 45th anniversary with our kids and grands on a cruise....now to choose which one. Obviously, activities are a great factor as we won't want to tie down the young ones with us boring old folks but also a factor is price. It will be one son and wife's first cruise, also a first for all the grands. Any suggestions?

On a side note-both husband and I have some disabilities for movement but we still want to enjoy the cruise.:)

Our plans are for some time in 2015.

  17. @Karysa-I think I love you!:D You're very wise to teach your children to be grateful for being ABLE to take the stairs! On our first-and last-cruise, hubby and I are both having to use canes and literally can barely make it up 1 step yet children would run up the stairs and into the elevator while we were still standing there waiting to get on it. Thanks for teaching the right thing to do.

@others who post they've never seen this behavior except on cruises, let me tell you, I have seen it at every resort we've been fortunate enough to visit. Maybe it's the "vacay" mentality, rather than locale because we have had more than 1 run-in with people who feel they have a right to board before you can get out of the back of the elevator. It's especially tough when you are on a scooter, as we had been forced to do and yet people will get on before you can get the thing out! I WILL run over toes if you don't move!:p

I guess basically, somewhere along the line, people are not being taught simple good manners as often as they should.
