  1. Just off the Carnival Sunshine. We ate at the Steakhouse on the first night. Food was absolutely wonderful and service was great. We were offered a free bottle of house wine or 50% off any other bottle. We drank 1/2 of the bottle and they re-corked it and gave it to us for the rest of the cruise.

  2. We just got off the Carnival Sunshine yesterday. We were greeted by our stateroom steward within the first couple hours. He handed us the card and asked if we wanted morning or evening service. I asked for both. He said fine and I checked the box on the form. He then let us know we may not see him often as he had 34 rooms and they were on 2 different floors. On our 2 final sea days we told him that we just needed morning service, which he did, and our funtimes was placed in a mailbox outside our door. Personally, I think it's unfair for one person (or even two people) to be responsible for 34 rooms. He did a great job and we appreciated him letting us know we wouldn't see him much.

  4. Thanks all for your comments, we leave for our cruise in 18 days. I spent some time on YouTube watching pier runners. We always take Carnival excursions and I never bring my passport or credit card on shore - just cash.

  5. I'm curious about those that actually miss the ship. Sure, Carnival has a representative at the port but there is so much more to it. Do they help you get a hotel room for the night, transportation to the hotel, do they get a plane or boat for you to get on to your ships next port. What if your passport is in your safe, in your room. What if your wallet is in the safe, with your passport. I'm just curious how things work out for those that miss the ship. Anyone know?

  6. Depending on how many shoes you take, they can be heavy - I pack those in my airline carry-on. I use packing cubes (love them) to keep things organized in my suitcase as well as in our cabin. I use one small cube for first-aid, another small cube for underwear, also, small cube for electronics (cords, cameras, etc). We bring cards, Uno, Five Crowns, small pad of paper and pen, this all goes in one small packing cube so that it's easy to grab and throw in my beach bag. I purchased the packing cubes on ebags.

  7. Thank you for such great information. I will be printing out your thread to pack in my suitcase. We will be flying in the day of the cruise. We purchased our flight through Carnival (due to high air prices) they were able to get us a really good deal. My concern is that we won't get into San Juan until late in the day with no/little time to get soda/water from CVS and no time to walk around the ship before it sets sail. Again, thank you for taking your time to help us all preapare for our cruise (we leave Feb. 20, 2011).
